This isn't a flashback so much as it is Paulo's imagination running away. Unless Taeshi means the next page is going to be a flashback.
The shirt designs are hilarious. They really show Paulo's inner conflict; he wants to be with Lucy, but he's with Jasmine now. So he has to remind himself of what happened in "Another Shoulder".
Now I'm sort of thinking Paulo will wander over to Jasmine's house afterwards, chat with her for a bit, and then just end the conversation by breaking up with her.

I like Lily's snide reaction when she opens the door, but I don't like that he can't see her. For as little amount of time as the pets have been involved with Lucy's failing...psyche, I think Paulo could maybe at least talk to her. Obviously, if he came all the way down there, he'd probably want to speak to her face to face.
I'm guessing Jasmine threw the snowball...which sucks, because then Paulo is forced to go off and play with her. Lily will see her, probably comment on how Paulo's time would be better spent with his girlfriend or some shit, and then just close the door on his face.

Lily's birthday was the previous day, so that adds to the joke as well. Paulo is understandably more concerned about Lucy than Lily, though.

Lily knows who Paulo is. She's just never been properly acquainted with him. Also she's aware Lucy doesn't want to be bothered by anyone right now, so that's why she makes up an excuse on Lucy's behalf.
I would also guess that Jasmine threw the snowball. That would be consistent with her fun-loving nature. The only other person who might throw a snowball at Paulo is David. Though if it was Jasmine, then she now knows that Paulo brought a present for Lucy. Wonder if Paulo will try to make up an excuse for why he doesn't have a gift for Jasmine? Maybe he'll try to distract her by spending time with her on another activity (such as making anatomically-correct snowpersons, ha).
I also wonder if Lucy will be appreciative of Paulo's small token, and be more likely to approach him with her woes again, despite what Mike said about him. After all, after "Pick Me Up" and "Another Shoulder", Paulo does have a history of supporting and comforting Lucy.

The watercolor looks much better than digital in my opinion. The texture makes even flat surfaces look interesting and watercolor tends to let you get away with implied shapes more. Its a good look, and its evident from the art that Taeshi is enjoying this. Some people are just more comfortable with traditional media.

Actually, I know it from my Animal Behavior class. It had a lot of information on animal sexual activities - and how their anatomy figures into it. For example, rat penises are extremely flexible, and can be used like a plunger to pull the sperm of another male out of the female's vaginal tract. The human penis's club-like head also functions to scrub competing sperm away. Then there's the "knot" in the canine penis, which holds the male and female together for several minutes after copulation...

Well, so it was Yashy who threw the snowball. Didn't even think of her as a possible culprit. That'll teach me to actually run through all the possibilities.
Also it's a wonder how Paulo is managing to hold on to the present in the first panel, since his right hand seems to be dangling straight down (following the arm line).Paulo takes advantage of the distraction to find Lucy. Love his expression in the sixth panel. Though it's anyone's guess as to what he's noticing in the last panel. For all we know, it could Lucy's mom in the bathtub, after which Paulo would probably flee in embarrassment. Or it could be Sam, who might be annoyed enough at an intruder to throw him out of the house. If Paulo does find Lucy though, she'll likely be moping in her room. She might not be receptive to a surprise visit, even if Paulo does have a gift in hand.

The new scanner makes the pages look SO MUCH better. I'm warming up to the watercolors.

Probably not the parents, because then Paulo would probably look a lot more nervous. Hell, they'd probably throw him out. Lucy's mother doesn't apparently like Paulo, so we can surmise what would happen from there.
