  • Ask me what I think about Snooths!
You know I might just get black or white (still undecided) just because you can't get pokemon from other generations after beating the league. It makes catching them all an obtainable goal once more.
  • #101

I still remember that song at the end of each episode of the first season.
"At least one hundred and fifty or more to see. To be a Pokémon Master is my destiny."
Now I hear there's more than 600...
I gave up a long time ago on Pokemon.

Who else agrees that the pokemon series should just DIE already... (I mean, it's good, but it needs to end SOMETIME)

Hopin' on that bandwagon set out for the Acceptance Trail? Blah blah blah, I can think of a ton of games that are still around today that have been around longer than Pokémon. To name a few: Starfox, Mario series, Legend of Zelda, the list goes on. So by your logic those series should all die too. Because it needs to end SOMETIME! Bleh.

Uh, i always found catching them all in the later ones to be difficult. You have to download all this stuff! >:(
Just saying though, I completed the pokedex for Yellow and Silver/Gold/Crystal 8-)

Hehe, i was the sad child who had a gameboy pocket and a gameboy color and so could trade across them #^_^#

I would suggest naming one ILB, but it would probably never actually want to fight.

Galvantula

Mienshao

I never nickname my Pokemon, Smugleaf being the required exception.

By the way does anyone have Heartgold/Soulsilver and Chikorita or any of it's evolutions? I have all the Pokemon in the regional Dex except those three and I cannot use the GTS because I have not seen them. I am willing to give up any non-legendary from the regional Dex for one. We can trade friends codes in PM.

Ooh, I know somebody who played through all of Emerald and did not catch a single Pokémon - only used Mudkip from the start and used it to beat everybody. ^_^

It would have to be a bit boring Pokédex, though. "Hmm... So far, you have seen 167 Pokémon, and you've caught 3..."

Also, Goldwulf, I am rather sure yours is the first team I have ever seen to have two Bug-types. I am rather flattered, though. #^_^#

Yes, I do like bugs.
  • #135

Has anyone else noticed that they've barely made any new evolutions for this generation? Have they finally given up on us and moved on completely to a new generation of kids? Have they stopped trying to impress us? Or did they just completely forget the aesthetic of the older generations?

On the subject of catching them all: You guys have heard of Emerald 386, right? It's a hack in which you can find all Pokemon from the first three generation naturally in the wild. The legendaries are still singular and hidden away, but a lot of other rare species have been made A LOT more common. It is my favorite iteration of Pokemon so far. There's also one for FireRed!
  • #136

Okay found my sixth team member Its an axe dragon which i named scotch (tried caracocles or however its spelled but ran out of space) also have Kaxbe the buffalo and Sila the metal soldior thing in storage as back ups. Need to get them all up tp levell 50 before challangeing the last gym, must train!!!

not too worried about haveing two bug types as their second type more than makes up for any weakness of they may have. plus i rather like the designs of them
  • #137

So are these what your talking about?

Scotch?

Kaxbe?

Slia?

I'm just trying to guess what you mean here. :smirk:
  • #138

Nope, Yes and yes, The axe dragon that is scotch is axew, good physical damage and can use a good spread of elemental attacks, takes awhile to reach its final form though so trainings going to be a bit much beofre i get him where i want him

slwsys have to name my teams, adds a more personal touch. dont bother to name the box fillers at all though

wierd thing i just found out on bulbapedia, apparently you cant trade the sarcofagus looking ghost thing over the net without giving it a nickname because of what its nmae contain Confagrius, The game considers it offensive and wont allow for nonlocal trades

How do you mean? That there are no new evolutionary stages for, say, Dunsparce, or a baby Pokémon version of Absol?

The stated purpose was to make Unova a whole new beginning. They did not want to build that directly on the previous generations, and so simply based the region on (a far less populated) Manhattan rather than on Japanese communes and started everything anew. No old Pokémon until you have beat the Elite Four, and none of them are related to any other Pokémon by evolution because they evolved in different parts of the world.
  • #140

Ahhhh, I see. I wasn't aware that that was their intention. That makes a lot of sense. Though it does still kinda feel like they abandoned us. *tear* But so it goes.

btw, we NEEEED an evolution for Dunsparce. I just don't want to believe that anyone could conceive of a creature so lame.
  • #141

My first version of the game was Yellow, I liked it but I preferred the Red version I got later on because I had a choice of starter pokemon (and for the 6th item duplication glitch). Loved the Gold and Silver versions, never bothered with Crystal because I was happy enough with the other 2. Even got a Mew from a friend somewhere along the way, still have it somewhere... I dabbled a bit in Leaf Green (felt kinda "old school" to be able to choose one of the original three and whatnot :) ) and Sapphire for the GBA, but they couldn't really keep my interest for too long.

I have Platinum version for my DSi and it seems to have kept my attention much longer than Green or Sapphire. It was also the version that I learned that I'm better off picking the Grass type as a starter because I find the variety of good wild grass types is pretty bad, all pokemon versions are crammed with pretty decent, if not exceptional, water types and I can always find a wild fire type that I really like (Magmar was my favourite for a long time). Though I believe I stopped playing because I got a little sick of "taking care" of my pokemon by taking them for walks in the park and stuff, but I might go back to it after all this typing has got me in the mood.

Don't think I'm going to bother with Black and White, not really all that interested.

so a im enjoying white, its not bad at all. I wish the first couple of gyms were a little spaced out more but the plots interesting.

Still have to say platinum was my favorite, likes the new region, liked the new pokemon and considering i havent played one since yellow before than there were alot of exciting changes. Also enjoyed the scope of the world in it. much larger than the first generation games i was used to. Not too fond of Heartgold, just seemed like a rushjob, even for a remake.
  • #143

He Dom I've just got the second gym badge so will be getting close to getting your Rufflet.

Well, the old fanbase are those who have been complaining about how there were no new ideas, so I doubt that was their intention. ^_^

And yes, I would like a Dunsparce evolution. That said, I like the original a lot, despite its relative uselessness. It is like the Japanese Bigfoot.
  • #147

wow Dunsparce is ugly, glad it's from a generation i havent played. Still think we need a dragon eveolution of eevee as well as a normal/ghost combo, Still upset by the starter typing of this gen, Fire/fighting again? now i can see a fighting subtype for the ottery thing because of the samurai elements to it, and leaving the grass type pure grass type was just disapointing, here i was hoeping it would get dragon as a secondary type. Sigh....a man can dream

Well, a Dragon subtype would have been overpowered. It would mean a double resistance to Water, and just regular effectiveness of Fire. Of course, if the Fire-type was part Flying and the Water-type was part Ice, that might work, but still, dragons are very powerful agains the starter typings.
  • #149

hmmm perhaps your right, i wa sjust hoping because it would give more incentive to play as the grass type starter, those tend to be chosen more for challenge because of the many weaknesses the grass types have.

still a grass/dragon would make a good pokemon, hmmmm maybe a near legendary type for the next gen, it would still have the 4x weakness to ice and a weakness to posion and bug to keep it from getting too overpowered
