Also I love Pokemon too My favorite is Torkoal then Furret then Snorlax, everyone else comes down after that I own Yellow, Blue, Red, Saphire, Platinum, and Soulsilver
In my opinion however I think they have kind of pushed pokemon a bit far I loved the first two generations the third was pretty good, fourth was okay but I'm not looking forward to generation five

HOWEVER.
The fact you can battle each other means that it's still pretty damn popular as a "casual" game even amongst older people, at least I've found.
I personally dislike the newer games, they attempt to include a plot (which they shouldn't unless they can make it a GOOD plot), and some of the game just isn't fun (sidequests, epic grinding, stadiums or whatever the hell they are).
The new pokemon that get added, well it's been the case in EVERY iteration of the games, there are a few awesome ones, and the rest are lame. People just look back at the originals, which have grown on them due to nostalgia.

I agree with some points and disagree with others.
Pokemon is a huge stress relief for me, no matter how old I am. I hate fighting other people--I'd rather just duke it out at the Battle Frontier. The Side Quests are horrendous, and level grinding is a pain in Gen 1 and Gen 4 (I quit playing Diamond because it would take me a week to level up to stand toe to toe with the elite 4 even though I had no problem with any of the gyms), but Gen 2 and Gen 3 (Emerald in particular) are not bad. I never cared for the plot either, but that's not why I play the game.
Now if there was ever someone who could shatter the "most pokemon are crap" concept it would be, of all people, my mom. Yes, my mom who once beat the Elite 4 with a Mightyena, Hariyama, Azumarill, Swellow, Furret and Gardevoir. She curb stomped them despite being on the lower end of their levels.

I'm really starting to like Emonga as well, it's about time they release a Pokémon that's both cute /and/ useful.

Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Teach Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all--
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokemon!
Ooooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all--
Our hearts so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Yeeaa.
Every challenge along the way
With courage I can face
I will battle everyday
To claim my rightful place
Come with me the time is right
There's no better team
Arm in arm we'll win the fight
It's always been our dream
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all--
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokemon!
Ooooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all--
Our hearts so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokemon!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Yeeeaa!

Get it. I swear to you it's the most fulfilling Pokemon game since.... I can't even remember. They really put their all into this one.
Also, I disagree. Pokemon is a fairly great series and, if Black and White prove anything it's that Gamefreak's still got it. I'll admit, this generation's Pokemon has some of the worst designs HOWEVER it also has a lot of the BEST designs I've seen since Red and Blue. It's also the most difficult and mature Pokemon game thus far which is very welcome!

I disagree. There is still a lot of fun to be gained from it. Especially if they make another Mystery Dungeon game. ^_^

Actually, Nintendo executives have said that they still have ideas for, oh, about five hundred more Pokémon. Keep in mind this was said around when the 4th Generation was starting, so no, I doubt this will be the last one.
That said, Generation V has proved to be a pleasant surprise so far. They moved the setting from Japan (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh) to North America/Manhattan (Unova), and this has caused some fun changes - for instance, there are no more Zubat, Geodude or Tentacool everywhere you turn, only the 155 new Pokémon. The effect this had on the anime is entertaining, since Ash's new rival is racist against those from Kanto, and most everybody in Unova are shocked to see Pikachu and Meowth. Other differences are that Team Rocket are actually acting competently this season, and that Brock has been replaced.
The games have also changed, storyline-wise - the exact formula has been altered slightly, and the fact that no Pokémon from previous generations may be obtained until after beating the Champion makes for a refreshing change. This, in part, has caused Black and White to get perfect ratings from Famitsu, and very high scores from other reviewers. That said, I have not played them myself yet, so I cannot personally say how this affects the games. ^_^

It's arguable. The games have definitely grown up a good deal with Black/White. I think a lot of this talk of more mature is coming from the content of the story this time around (also, game actually has a story, shock), and the fact that it frequently and continuously questions the actual morality of catching and battling pokemon, etc etc.
I don't know that I'd say the game is more "mature", but they're definitely trying to give Pokemon a lot of the moves forward that it needs to keep going in the current market.

Aaah, Pokemon was my main refuge when I was younger, so I have a big attachment to it still. The only thing is, I REALLY hated generation IV I didn't like any of the starters, didnt really like the male/female character. I guess I never really gave it a chance, but it when i did play it, things like bidoof. really got on my nerves. Also, it was harder to train them up too. I think what made me annoyed, was that it was during my GCSE years, so I wasn't able to research it as fully as I had done the previous generations.
Plus the Anime STILL didn't bring misty back... She was, my favourite character ever.
I loved mystery dungeon, completely refreshing way to play, I got so attached to my little buddy Toto (A totodile. Go figure) And was devastated when the storyline finished and he changed into a normal pokemon... It was heartbreaking...
Man, everyone thinks is so lame for liking pokemon. But I wouldn't change it for the world!

To grossly simplify and whatnot, it doesn't deviate much from the standard pokemon story formula, start out, gym badges, derp derp, etc. The biggest thing is just that the main antagonists of the story aren't just bad for being bad, there's a lot of questions about the morality of battling and capturing pokemon in the story, and the whole goal of Team Plasma is to "liberate" pokemon and whatnot.
It's kind of interesting but it's admittedly not a huge leap in the right direction for the series, more of a baby step.
