Not exactly news now, but here's the TMZ link I got from Reddit yesterday: includes the video of Yauch announcing his cancer.
Truly, I wasn't a very large fan, but I'll always enjoy the occasional nostalgia trip of License to Ill. My mother really enjoyed MCA and the Beastie Boys when I was young, so it feels a little odd that one of the guys who became such a staple part of my youth's background noise is now gone.

For those who are not ashamed to continue liking Coldplay, a sort of tribute:

I liked Mike D better, but fuck man, those bastards used to be my heroes. Too bad the last album they released was instrumental.


And coldplay is still cool in my book, I saw them do a tribute to REM at a concert in Atlanta the day they (REM) broke up. Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head are their only good albums imho.

Also, @CaptainBaconMan, A Rush of Blood to the Head is the only album I like as a whole, but I still can't bring myself to jump on the hate-Coldplay-bandwagon.

Yeah, I had to turn off the Coldplay thing as soon as I realized what song they were singing. That was easily the worst cover of any song I've ever heard.
