Anyways, Sandy's mom has a log up her ass. Ugh. She'd make a terrible inlaw.

Yes. Yes it is.

Don't worry about Sandy's mom, Mike. Just give your girlfriend a nice farewell kiss, and cherish the moment. You probably won't be seeing her again for a while.
As for the scarf, I don't know how nostalgic it really is where Sandy's concerned, since Mike didn't wear a scarf in third grade.
- 23 July 2012 - 03:18 PM
I hope he gets hanged with that scarf

I love how annoyed Sandy and Mike are at Sandy's mother. It's not like they both knew that Sandy had to leave pretty quickly and would only have a few minutes to talk to Mike before leaving. Yes, her mother is just being SOOOOO unreasonable. -_-

Kind of sad

That grin looks more evil to me. Like, if she was looking at anyone but Mike, you'd think she would be plotting their death in that gaze.

Seven pages left for Taeshi to destroy you.
- 25 July 2012 - 02:26 PM
And yes, still seven pages remaining in this chapter. Since Sandy and her mother are departing, the next page would seem the logical conclusion of the visit, but who really knows? I'd guess the focus still remains on Mike, as it's been since the start of the chapter, but if so, for what? For Haley to bug him about kissing Sandy? Will the last page turn out to be Sandy reading Mike's letter?
Sandy and especially Mike's hands seem a little too small in panel 3. Other than that, I'd say the artwork has generally been excellent throughout this chapter. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are many webcartoonists who work primarily in watercolour, so it's a treat that Taeshi can do it well. And if she enjoys doing it, all the better.

I forgot how bad that panel was, ughghg
- 25 July 2012 - 03:11 PM
- "baww, we are departing already"
- "we didn't even get to kiss"
- "I think I can fix that at least"
I noticed the number of pages left, but I wouldn't built too much expectations over it. The couple of things left for this chapter can easily stretch over that number, and I doubt there's much new drama that wouldn't deserve more than that to unfold.

IT LOOKS FINE.
I am glad that I do not do anything remotely creative or I would constantly beat myself up too.
And babby penis. I just assumed his hand was tilted further one direction and she was reaching further. WHICH MAKES TOTAL. COMPLETE. SENSE. AAAAAAAA

And relax, Taeshi. It's no big deal. It's just Sandy letting go of Mike's hand (at least, I think they're holding hands in the first panel).

Her hair will now be tied in a yellow and orange ribbon.

can't argue with a model about fashion.

Long version: At first I wasn't very happy about the watercolors. The whole thing looked better, more artistical, more precious.. but the contours were somehow more fuzzy, and the first pages looked almost like someone else had drawn them instead of Taeshi. In short the change from the previous style (ch. 60-69) felt a little awkward and I kind of disliked it.
This is mostly just a matter of personal taste, but I think the last few pages and especially this last one have instead reached a point where I no longer regret anything from the previous style. Apart from the colours, now also the contours are neat and brilliant and I love each panel!
Short version: Attagirl!
- 27 July 2012 - 09:18 AM
Well, matter of tastes I guess.

P.S.: imagine someone going through the body-scanner while trying to smuggle a boa-constrictor under his clothes... the face of the security officer checking the scan must be hilarious.

But no, he's too much of a pussy to ask for that. It'll be something excessively saccharine with some kind of future implication between them. If not the letter itself, her reaction to it.

To Cavara regarding the watercolours: you know what they say, practice makes perfect. For an artist switching to a new medium, it can be awkward at first to get things "just right", and sometimes quite a bit of experimentation is needed (Taeshi had a chance to do that with her "Ask Roseville High" watercolours). But after enough practice, the art improves, and the artist herself is better for having expanded her skillset.
To Volgrand: it's only been 6½ years. And they are both still teenagers, experiencing the awkward stages of love.

Tess (and everyone else) will certainly wonder why Mike's wearing a blue scarf again though.
- 28 July 2012 - 12:40 AM
Nevertheless, this page was quite well-done and the water coloring certainly had improve.

I think he was referring to a possible emotional attachment in giving him the scarf? She wouldn't care, but I don't think he was thinking that Tess would be mad over the cost.
