The question would be what will happen to yashi after this

The friendship of yashi and blur perhaps not already completed that blur is not guilty of anything

Yes you would.

She's been kind of neglected in the story recently in favor of her more dramatic counterparts.

Suitcase used the proceeds from BCI to purchase a Daisy fursuit complete with strategically placed holes.

Blur's friendship with Yashy doesn't depend on Mike. He often goes over to visit Yashy on his own initiative, so no worries there. I do wonder if Blur will play a part in comforting her? Or would he be brushed off by an upset Yashy because of Mike?

At least Lily is giving Yashy some comfort. Lily might be in the background most of the time, but currently she's playing a strong role in being a pillar of unconditional support for Lucy and the other pets. Being wiser and more mature, she handles that role quite well.

Wonder what the next chapter will be? The New Year's Eve party at Tess' house? Maybe there'll be a one-page intermission for Friday.

Seriously: what part would Abbey play if not for Daisy? She's original cast, he and Molly are just kind of tangents to that core, though even Molly on her own can be a pretty interesting character, enough so even to be part of that inner circle. It feels to me the only reason even to bother keeping Abbey as part of the story (since Daisy could do MUCH better with three other guys than Abbey) is to keep Molly around specifically because she's a character worth keeping around.

I can kind of see where Jerk's coming from on this one. As a main character, Abbey is unusual in that he wasn't introduced until chapter 23, and even then Taeshi had trouble characterizing him. She originally created him for plot-related reasons, and then threw him into the comic to see how he'd develop. Maybe that's why Abbey sticks out: his character simply isn't as consistent throughout, and still rather rough compared to the other mains, and still being developed and tweaked. Hence he doesn't integrate into the BCB universe nearly as well as the others do. It could even be argued that he's sort of a failed main character, because he's never quite met the expectations of that role. Maybe Abbey should actually be placed with Augustus and Sue as a more important secondary character?

And given that Abbey's backstory has now been revealed, I do wonder if there will be future storylines that will develop him further. It seems like most of the potential drama and conflict regarding Daisy/Abbey would revolve more around Daisy and her choices, and highlight her development rather than Abbey's. I mean, yeah, Abbey'd be disappointed if Daisy were to break up with him in order to pursue Mike, but I think he'd ultimately accept whatever made her happiest. And following that? What would there be for Abbey as a main character? Even if Daisy were to choose to stay with him, he'd still be less prominent than her. The only thing I can think of to really feature Abbey would be a storyline or two where he grapples with his own self as a character, about his white-knighting and his firm stance against bullying and so on. A more mellow Abbey would be a better Abbey.

Molly is a minor character in the BCB context and, being younger, she really doesn't have the chance to interact much with the older characters other than Abbey. She seems to show herself off best in separate, unconnected stories such as "Molly's Adventure".

It's nice to know how that money was spent. I regret nothing. 8-)

I don't really think what is gonna happen to the pets is gonna play a big part in the up coming story, there might be a minor chapter for them but I just don't see it playing a big part in what's to come, they are pretty unimportant in the story as a whole, not saying I wouldn't want to see it, I just wouldn't hold my breath for it.

You're right, the pets don't play a big part in the overall story. We might in fact have gotten more than originally intended (we got an extra two pages showing Yashy's reaction to the revelation that Mike was dating someone else).

Still, it's nice to speculate even on the minor characters, as they do appear from time to time (hey, at least they aren't being forgotten). Besides, it shows that everyone is being affected by the Mike/Lucy drama, even down to the pets. We should soon see more of the the fallout on the other main characters (and Sue as well) in upcoming chapters.

Have we even seen Blur lately? Last time he was sighted was during "Mischief Night" in a single panel but kind of went missing after that, he sure wasn't over at Mike's during December (or was hiding)

I think in terms of pets, they are important in terms of being an indicator of Lucy's current state. But outside that, they don't matter a lot more to the story other than to give some comic relief and support to the most isolated character of the cast.

It's certainly an interesting development that, instead of sheltering Yashy as she's done till now, Lucy gave her the harsh truth and left Lilly to deal with the fall-out. I just it's part of her being Tsundere to protect herself, though I also wonder if she cannot stand to see Yashy's reaction, and fears attachment to ANYTHING right now. After all, Yashy as an Egg was what she originally attached herself to when Mike first left her for Sandy. Though it seems she was acting normal enough for Yashy till now, other than being a bit more down than usual. She can't of totally emotionally abandoned her pets right? It would be sad if the mother and child relationship between Lucy and Yashy was damaged as a result of "December"'s fallout.

Where's Blur? No, we haven't seen him in the comic lately, but that doesn't mean he's vanished. And actually, he appears on two pages of "Mischief Night", not just one.

Yashy did notice that Lucy had been despondent lately, yes. Also.
  • #861

You'd have to be pretty autistic not to notice she's despondent. Like David levels of autism.

Quite an ending to a chapter eh?
  • #863

Not his fault her wallet's getting sodomized by the phone company just because she's too stupid to pick a good plan.
