So watching Sandy strut the catwalk was a sight to behold, huh? That dress was lovely. Well, Roseville High's got some cute girls too, you know. Can you design the best dress for each? Come show your stuff in the RNTM Contest!

Each month (if this catches on) a lovely dame from BCB will be selected as Model of the Month, and it's up to us, the BCB fans, to draw her in the dress you think fits her the best. Can't draw? No worries! A well written descriptive paragraph will do, and you can even team up with someone to draw for you.

This is a contest, so there are prizes! So far all I got is me and Lisa. If you would care to donate a prize(even if you're entering) you're more than welcome to; after all, that's the BEST PART about contests~ ;D

The three judges are Taeshi, RC, and guest judge Jessica from Deviantart.

PRIZE LIST

First Place:
Full Body Full Colored Drawing from RC
Full Body Flat Colored Drawing from Lisa(nothing BCB related)
A Special Video from Lvl 50 Fighter(I hear he's willing to star in it and do something silly. ;) )

Second Place:
Colored Headshot/Chibi from RC
1/3 body from Lisa(sketch)

Third Place
Sketch Headshot/Chibi from RC
Sketch/Headshot from Lisa

Judging will start on the 3rd of next month(August). Upload entries to Candybooru with the tag "contest".Also remember to post it on this thread

This month's model: Daisy!
Make sure to mirror her personality through the dress; after all, she has to want to wear it!

BE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD!

This is cute. I recommend that you draw something alongside a bunch of text and put this info on Candybooru. A lot of the girlier dress-designing artists are more commonly on Candybooru than the forum.
  • #2

Yeeeeeeeeeeeesss.
Definitely doing this .-.
  • #3

I didn't know we could hold art contests. This is awesome. We have a month to finish anyway so there's plenty of time. :D
  • #4

Cool, Suit's okay with it, all systems go I guess! I'll work on it when I get back home.

I made an ad but it's hideous D: I don't have a scanner right now... Well, if anyone wants to make one...

Another entry from Booru! There's actually quite a bit but people seem to not want to post on this thread? Well anyways, here's another:

I can't draw that well so let me describe my dress idea.

Have you ever seen a marine dress blue uniform. well i was thinking what about make the sleeves of the uniform shorter to show the rank and cut off, then the shoulder straps can act like a veil-crow strap where she can roll up the sleeves and just tape them there. then from her shoulders down to belly would be just blank with two breast pockets. then from where her legs start would be a Victorian style layered dress with the two red stripes down the legs. the dress would stop by the knees , and the shoes would be black high heels. Oh forgot one thing white gloves.

I know this is long and i am playing on her inner tom boy but it would look cool.

i know i might not win but it sounds like a good idea

I actually think this would be too much for her... D:
  • #11

Yeah, maybe, but hair Lucy seems like a different character to me, so i guess she might surprise us ;)
  • #12

Oh no, sorry I meant mine :/ I think yours looks nice :)

Haha, what is this? I don't even.
  • #15

Are multiple submissions an option?
Even though the dress is kinda "alternative"

  • #16

@Cavara
Yes, you can submit more than one design, but you can only place once.

However, that is not quite a dress. =P

Uhm, the disclaimer post says "can you draw the best dress?" but i guess it's ok as long as there is at least some degree of clothing ;)
  • #20

so like a frilly loin cloth and pasties would be okay?
  • #21

No ponies, no problem.
  • #22

Well, it doesn't have to be a dress per say, I guess? Like just runway worthy. Dressy. Hell, I thought Radial's wasn't a dress but it sure as hell counts. Formal ish. I guess I didn't specify very well. My problem with the blue ribbon was that it doesn't exactly count as like actual clothing..

And yes, Klaus, that could qualify but you'll be guaranteed not to place. :P

Haha I'm sure at this point it's not about placing, more or less just adding something to say you were part of it.
  • #24

I was remembering that Project Runway show, and I remembered they used to scorn and mock the bottom 3 places. I kind of want to do that to the rock bottom, but perhaps that would get too many trolls..
  • #25

Debatable not something Lucy would wear.

Wacko, remind me never to get on your bad side. You could take down anyone in minutes with that hunting ability of yours. O.o but yay, thanks for that! :3 maybe Mousecat's entry isn't imporbably after all! :P
  • #29

uh, that's great then. I don't even remember Taeshi drawing that.

OKAY I actually made something super last minute, but under the time frame, but was too busy to post on the forum until now! D:
Does that still count? I hope I can still qualify ajsdknada

Judgement Day is here. Stay tuned to hear the winners! I'm posting entries that never made it to the forum thread for the sake of having them all here.

I'm not a judge, but I think Visiface and Panda are my top two.

The chest part of Panda's dress impresses me as it is a subtle reference to the pink ribbon without being over the top, and the wrinkly look comes across as simple and impressive. I think it's let down a lot by the neck tie thing, though.

Visiface's dress is adorable, but it feels less realistic and like more of a silly RPG anime outfit. I can't fault it except for the fact it feels like it wouldn't exist in real life, it's otherwise very cute and uses the giant ribbon in a cutesy, overstated way that really works.
Bridgey
There are some highlights in the others - Jpark's ribbon is cleverly done (although it's altogether too gloomy) and both Bridgey and Radial's outfits are pretty (although not clever enough at referencing Lucy's features) - but overall I think the two I first mentioned are the cleverest and most character-appropriate.

EXCITED TO HEAR THE RESULTS and start the next month's gal
dresses are fun

GASP Judgement Day has finally come! It was a long week because there were just so many great entries, but at long last, here are the results! Here are your winners!!

FIRST PLACE goes to Visiface for her beautiful "punk wannabe space princess bullshit!" Her creative use of incorporating Lucy's bow, as well as the clever use of color to make a feminine but not overly so. In Jessica's words, it was a "nice origional design and stood out the most".
Spoiler

SECOND PLACE goes to Michi for her great color scheme and creative use of the bow. It's "appealing and well balanced," says Jessica, and Taeshi added this dress "is something I wish I could wear."
Spoiler

THIRD PLACE goes to Lace, for her blue dress that was my personal pick because oh my gosh was this a hard one. She used ribbons instead of bows, which was an interesting and unique choice, and I can easily imagine Lucy wearing this, as it's just feminine enough without being embarrassingly so for her.
Spoiler

Congrats to this contest's winners!!! Be sure to claim your prizes!

Also, if you're interested in a critique of your entry, I'll be happy to write my own assessment and tell you how you did. In fact, if you check your Candybooru page, I'll be trying to leave a comment on all of them over the course of the week.

Stay tuned for next month's contest~

Oh lord please don't.

Why not?

Because I acknowledge I am not an artist and I had just wanted to be part of something. I had assumed criticism would he harsh and true, meant to help and artist improve. Which at the moment would just sting I assume.

Perhaps it would not be so bad but I made the same mistakes in poetry writing sooooo.

Sooo if anyone is interested, i'd like to donate a gift. A special video from me to the winner. They either simply ask me to do something in the video that is entertaining..or I'll figure something out for myself, such as a song or something.

Visiface's, Radial's, RC!'s and Stofu's were my favourite ones, I somehow had not seen michi's at all, though. A very nice result overall and heaps of awesome pictures.

I'd agree with lvl50 on a Sue month ;) hahaha.
Though Rachel would be cool, too.
