7th graders drive an elderly woman to tears

So, I'm sure that most of you must've heard of the video that went viral on YouTube, if you don't then it's just an awful 10 minute long video of how four 7th graders insult a bus chaperone (who is an elderly, her name is Karen Kline.) and they keep telling things like "Oh my God you're so fucking fat, I don't want to touch you because you're a fatass and sweaty."(Something around there) and keep going on and on, but later in the video some guy asks "Hey Karen, are you sweaty?" She said no but then he asks "Then why is there water on your face?" She then says that she's crying but I guess they seem to ignore her and continue to insult her until the end of the video. >:( what a terrible thing to do

Later when someone saw this video they made an Indiegogo account, and they made funds for Klein to take a vacation, it was going to be just $5,000 but then it ended up being around $650,000.
The kids that bullied her got suspended for the 2012-2013 school year and were forced to do 50 hours of community service involving the elderly. The kids apologized to Klein but she refused the apology, but didn't press charges against them. The boys will attend the town's District Reengagement Center as well. That in itself is a sign of shame from which the kids might never recover. Still, it seems fitting given their own particular brand of unforgivable cruelty.

When they make this into an awful Lifetime movie, it should be called "Porky's Payday."

EDIT: Silvia, you asshole, I thought she was going to be more obese than that. At least a two-seater, not a one-and-a-half. Cocktease.

Oh well. Thanks for brightening up my day.

Hope she used that windfall to buy a treadmill.

i dunno, man. it doesn't really meet the requirements for a lifetime movie? i mean, there's no rape, blackmail, prostitution ring, etc. like, all lifetime original movies have that unless it's a biopic about a female celebrity sometimes.

I don't know. We entered the video in the middle of things. Maybe she's all bloated and greasy because they took turns on her.

Or drove past a Wendy's.

She got at least 5 times the amount she needed for her vacation through donations.

Jerk's brand of jerkitude is really leaving a bitter and bad taste in my mouth when it comes to this story :\ I feel completely bad for this woman because she has had an uneasy life and it wasn't like she was making that much chaperoning those kids anyway. And apparently they knocked out her hearing air and she's partially deaf. Nobody deserves that kind of abuse, they even brought her to tears.

I do feel relieved the schoolkids got what was coming to them, though I"m intrigued by one thing: How the fuck do you not consider what might happen if you post a video like that in the year 2012

like seriously

how stupid could they be

like did they really consciously go "hey this is funny let us post this because we will be the life of the party on the internet"

rather than completely looked down upon because they bullied a poor woman

they even said shit about her relatives dying because they didn't wanna be near her.. and she's a widow/her son committed suicide. That's some serious awful shit and I don't feel comfortable about her getting teased more.

moral of the story: be bullied, post proof on internet, get money

I couldn't feel much enthusiasm about fat jokes unless she was, say, this fat:

That disappointed me. When you're, like, seventy nobody gives a fuck about your weight. Even so, why would you agree to be a bus chaperone for snotty middle class white kids in the first place? If your school system needs bus chaperones, hire a black dude, the biggest fucking black dude you can find. They've only seen them on the internet so it's likely to scare the fuck out of them.

But no: I didn't watch the whole video, just a part of it. Otherwise, I couldn't give two fucks about the entire thing. I was hoping it was something like making a morbidly obese math teacher cry, I could get behind that shit. But harassing the mall-walker? That's boring. That's regular shit that happens everywhere everyday. The only entertaining thing about this is the backlash they got from posting it.

Right about the same time that the school hires a black guy as a bus chaperone, students happen to be showing up to school high more often.

I used to think that, but then i took a statistics class.

It is childhood, unfortunately. Mockery is almost second nature to them, because at a certain age that is how children act to separate themselves from others, and to define their very own personality ("I am not like you, because you are old but I am young"; "I am not like you, because you sit still while I am active playing football"; "I am not like you, because you are stupid but I have good grades"). This carries on into adulthood, of course (although it is more subtle then), but when you are that young there is - for some reason - a compulsion to set yourself apart, and define yourself as "the superior person", by spouting abuse. And with it comes the group mentality, the thought that it is Them against Us, and that you need to join with whoever is most like you. Or rather, to join with the attacking side.

I do feel sorry for this poor woman - it must have been extremely hard on her when her husband died, and very possibly more so when her son committed suicide, but to have it all brought upon you again, by jeering faces, with the added message "nobody loves you"; that must also have been very tough. It is something I do not wish upon anyone.

Their reason for posting the video may be clouded, but again, these are children - and they do not have the same mentality that we do. They thought, since they were supported by their peers and had their laughter to back them up, that everyone else would do the same. It may not have been conscious judgement, and it most likely was not, but such is the curse of our race that we get caught up in immediate detail and never look at the big picture, or even any part of the picture beyond ourselves. And I am reasonably certain that quite a lot of grown-up people have had ideas similar to this, but have been held back not by compassion but by experience of the world.

Humanity is, invariably, dark. :x

Ah Jerk, you know your utter disregard for social parameters on the web actually GIVE ME HOPE for humanity. Since I know you don't actually mean any of the stuff you say I can imagine that the world's unapproachable jerkoffs on the web are mostly people not giving a shit, and realizing that it's the internet and no one else should give a shit. Not people with their views actually so horribly askew.

Though I can't say the same for the kids that did this. It makes me shudder what terrible things are happening in the world right now. I mean you KNOW that this is just the tip of the iceberg... only a handfull of idiots are dumb enough to post their freakin video of scarring old persons or other victims on the web. So many cases are no doubt never reported and dealt with.
