Sue and Amaya both fancy Mike, and Stacy sent him a love note way back in "Puppy Love". She admires those luminous emerald eyes just as much as Paulo does.
KiraDood5: join the club. Seriously, for some reason BCB attracts a lot of bisexuals (among other groups).

I knew about Amaya and Stacy, but Sue as well? When did this happen? :O

Since the time Paulo heard of Mike's relationship with some unknown girl (Sandy), he started to refer to her as a ball-n-chain. Funny enough, I honestly finds that concept in a way to match better with how Mike's relation with Lucy has been.
However, could Paulo actually have not believed in Mike's girlfriend's existence in the first place and solely used it as an excuse to satisfy his own ego? I'm anticipated in seeing how the next page will turn out. Rachel and Jessica being bully victims themselves in the past could catch a strong sympathy for Mike depending on how this will turns out. Exciting!

If Mike weren't already taken and didn't have girls swarming around him, then a relationship with Sue would indeed be drama-free. However, Sue is well aware there are already other girls interested in/involved with Mike, and she's smart enough to stay out of the drama that would result if she got closer to Mike. She is good friends with him though.

I don't think Paulo truly believed Mike had a girlfriend until Mike showed him the picture of Sandy in "Unrequited" (which is about one chapter ahead of the current point in time).

Yup, Paulo was immature in ninth grade, and is still so even here at the beginning of tenth grade. In the chapters since then though, he's done a lot of maturing.

Honor English sure is stressful, eh Mike? It's understandable one reason for his tartness toward Lucy came from earlier that day, tampering his performance. Right now he probably mistakes Lucy for selfishly disregarding the importance of his essay, being a rather urgent matter for him. He takes the school subject he's better at seriously after all.
As for Lucy, I'm pretty certain she just meant it more as an observation and to show him regards. She appears to be frustrated, unable to figure out why he's being upset toward her, oblivious of she's in a way being the reason. It would also not be surprising she's partly genuinely concerned for him, being not her first time to react to him being moody.
In panel 7, I sees that they kinda shrunk into chibi mode. Cute!

Seppucrow: The more that join the party, the merrier. After all, why should I always get all the glory?
The essay Mike refers to is the same one Daisy mentions on this page. I suppose earlier in the day Mike had offered to help Lucy with her poster, but then he went into Honours English and found he had the same sadistic teacher as the previous year. Hence his plans changed, since he now has an essay due the next day (just like the previous year).
Abbey is also in Honours English, as he was the previous year. This does reinforce a point of potential confusion which I first noticed when I was proofreading for Volume 2: on the last two panels of this page, it would be easy to read David's comments as indicating "everyone but Mike", when really it's "everyone but Mike, Daisy and Abbey" (because the latter three are all in Honours English). Guess Abbey just isn't cool enough for David.

I understand how Paulo feels all too well, even though he doesn't understand Mike's growing resentment toward Lucy.

Originally, Mike would be very defensive of the way Lucy acts. A flashback taking place in the freshman year, somewhere between "Wardrobe Malfunction" and "Left Behind" (noting on that Mike didn't wears his scarf during this period) he would demonstrate to his recently committed girlfriend his willingness to even justify one of Lucy's most gruesome example of abuse. However, with time that opinion would start to gradually decline, inspiring him to stand up for himself for his well-being's sake. At some point he would start to reflect his discontent to his friends of Lucy's behavior.
Based on that information, it's assumed Paulo would take those complains as Mike is having some delinquency against Lucy. Being typically concerned for her, he must have seen what just happened as Mike giving Lucy a cold-shouldered neglection. I can see how Paulo has developed the idea of how Mike is being the sole antagonist behind Lucy's mood.
Lucy knowing what happened before when she explained to him how it was out-rightly her fault, had Paulo's bias remaining unreasoned and proceeded to assume revenge on Mike. Understandably it's for the best to just shut him up whenever he's trying to interfere. Last thing Lucy needs is some aggressor against Mike in her name, it's likely to spell serious consequences for the relationship with her love interest. Also she would probably prefer to not risk getting Mike hurt.
Seppucrow&wacko: Aye! There is enough glory for the all of us.
Vigtyr: I could imagine he would do a rage-train after Mike, being fixated on the thought to retaliate. Outcome would of course depend on if Lucy is there to stop him before it's too late.

Viking is essentially correct in his assessment. Paulo's ready to white-knight for Lucy, but she stops him. We also saw the same thing a few chapters earlier. Paulo always has Lucy's back, but he doesn't know the full story of why Mike is growing colder towards her. On the other hand, Lucy is quite aware that her own dependency on Mike is the reason Mike's mad at her, and so she asks Paulo to lay off him. And Paulo does for now, although he continues to bear a grudge towards Mike.

Mike is typically a peaceful guy that assumes to understand other's behaviors to be "just their way". Heck, even when Abbey criticizes Paulo, Mike would still shield him. This is despite the fact Paulo really is being often rude to him and his friends. He even assembled the Cheater Squad to get him kicked into a bloody mess and damaged his reputation (though, ironically being in Mike's favor). Mike still sees Paulo as a friend and appreciates his better qualities, seeing them as enough to be content with him.
Being like this, Mike assumed the same thing with Lucy. He accepts his role to be a confident and supportive friend to keep her feel secured. Of course, Mike pays a lot of attention to his closest, observing Lucy's potential. He monitors her performance showing delight to improvements, while also willing to take a dive to boost her confidence. He attempts to encourage her more open and caring side, while dejecting anti-social behaviors. One can say that he's in a way trying to help her to counter her dependency issues by becoming more open and social. Though, it's speculative how high expectations Mike might actually had for Lucy as those was destined to die off since the freshman year, resulting in he's giving up the case.
My point is that I finds Lucy's violence toward Paulo more justified because he's aware of the risk and in a way is actually asking for it by repeatably hitting on her. Mike, who has really been a kind and concerned person toward her, gets him to do the heavy lifting to maintain the friendship he didn't even originally asked for. I'm certain the earlier slap-stick themed chapters doesn't do justice to the true nature of the matter.

People have this acceptance of the tsundere stereotype that makes them retarded to this kind of behavior. There's patience and then there's being a doormat. Mike stops being the latter and runs out of the former, as it is entirely his right to do so. If you don't like the way he finally snaps responding to her attitude, you are an idiot who romanticizes abuse and you're free to go fuck yourself.

It's really too bad that everyone basically rejected Lucy in preschool and kindergarten (just because she liked to do guy things!), so that she'd later respond in kind by rejecting everyone (except for Mike, and she was still way too rough with him).

Dear Lucy: Get the fuck over it.
It applies to so many things, it's like a Swiss Army aphorism when applied to her.

It wasn't until Zachary had his talk with her that she got to learn that her abusive behavior had actually caused consequences to her relationship with Mike. Upon being convinced, it seems like she even had to start question her own denial before giving up and realizing this very obvious threat. Of course, she would still pick a fight with Mike just to get the boy himself snapping at her acting. I can be assumed she remained under reasonable control the rest of that summer. The first day of school upon meeting Mike, one can see the habit remains, but atleast she quickly suppressed it. Being that the damage is already done, it's of course not going to redeem herself.
A factor I thinks that really could have made a difference in the past would been if the preschool staff was actually competent at their job and noticed how Lucy treated Mike so they could intervene and tell her to play nice with him. In fact, they could have worked on getting Lucy accepted among the boys. Still, I fully agrees that her past has absolutely no justification to be violent to other later in her life, she must take consequence for her actions like anybody else.

I wonder why Tessa didn't wear a cast at Acapulco after Lucy broke her arm when she invited her.

I always wondered what happened between Paulo and Tess. They practically went through hell together, yet she refused to be with him. In fact, it seems like she really stopped hanging out with the cast after Acapulco. I hope here is where we'll get an explanation...

Tess do indeed hangs out less since Acapulco, seen from times being with them at the table. Possibly she has started to put more focus on her school subjects and that hostility toward her has faded to a degree she doesn't need to "use" her friends as a get away.

Paulo is the same height as Jessica. Tess is also about as tall as Jessica. So they're actually both around the same height. You can see it when Paulo and Tess are posing for pictures.

If Paulo is getting nuts because of his future girlfriend Jasmine's unavailability, it could be actually for the better he didn't stick with Tess. I'm not sure if Paulo could have the same patience in waging a long-distance relationship like Mike. It would be quite a difference to see Paulo spending time at home with a phone. Who knows if David in the end did Paulo a favor in finding "the one"?
Also, you gotta love Rachel's ability to ask Paulo awkward questions.
