Black Friday, the death of humanity

Black friday, seems normal enough right? Wrong. Its basically hell on earth. The stores are filled with ctazy shoppers who would do anything to get their gifts for Christmas. Infact here are some examples. 2 years ago in Florida a woman brought a tazer with her to Target. She tazed people to get to the front of the line. Last year a man just bought a xbox 360, walked out of the store and had seizure. A man drove up grabbed the xbox out of his hands and left. This year in Colorado a brawl broke out in a apple store for the remaining iphones. So lets think about this. Is it really worth it to wake up at 2am, go to a store and wait in line for items 20% off?

You can get the same deals just by shopping online, so it's not worth it. It's definitely worth your time to watch from the sidelines or even mess with people at the stores.
  • #2

Honestly fighting over stuff on sale?
And some people have to fight over food in other countries just to survive.
  • #3

People are crazy, shop online. Makes me wonder what it would be like in Canada if we took Black Friday seriously. Boxing Day is pretty god damn pleasant around here, especially since most big electronics stores have gotten good practice over the years to get people in and out with their purchases in less than 30 minutes. It's also the time of the year when you see just how many Asians there are living in Regina ;)

I never got the point of Black Friday. Stores have sales all the time anyway, so I see no reason to this is any different.
Except for the violence, of course. That usually doesn't happen with a regular sale.
  • #5

We had this whining shit last year. Yes, people are horrible whenever you turn on the news. If that surprises you, you're retarded. Full stop.

They don't report on minor acts of courtesy, they don't report on all the kindness and good gestures because it usually goes unrecorded and, even if it were, it wouldn't be newsworthy to producers. Those people don't fucking do it for attention anyway and would likely rather not be noticed.

People do little shit every day just to make a stranger's life better, it doesn't have to be some grand operatic gesture, but it does constitute a fuckload of data that you're simply not receiving.

Black friday is a riot that is allowed to happen evry year. If you dont have any thing better to do then wait in line for like two days and then fight over whats on sale you need a new life.

let's go watch Dawn of the Dead

Definitely agreeing with Jerk here.

but also, maybe you could think about the people who are worse off than most of us here?? i mean, i saw something like this a little while ago, and i honestly think it really come in over here. think about all the people who usually cant afford the clothes they want, or that one toy their kid has really been wanting. now, i know what youre thinking, "if these little shits are more worried about fun stuff than paying off their bills, then they deserve to stay that way".

i guess, yeah. but whats wrong with wanting to indulge a little? i mean, think. theres this family thats working so hard because they have a hard time holding a job. the parents try and try, but they get layed off within two, three months, max. businesses arent doing well, neither are they. their rent has been late three times in a row, and theyve even almost thought about taking their eight year old out of public school. the seventeen year old is almost done with highschool, and she needs it, so she isnt an option.

so when next monday rolls around, they can all get new shoes. the old ones are riddles with holes, but they keep them just in case. the little one has a new stuffed animal. thats not all, they have some other stuff too. a used ps2 that passes the time better than cards. even a pretty awesome flatscreen (at least they can sell it for a decent amount if they have to). they all feel a little better, feel new. a step closer to being the regular middle class family.

i have no idea how accurate this is, but it seems believable to me. then again im just a dumb eighth grader, what do i know. but theres a general idea here. black friday isnt necessarily just for people to fight and bicker over new shiny electronics and stuff, but there are actual people who are probably better off because of black friday.

I would totally line up at 5 a.m. to buy this

But I'm not sure it would be up to my expectations.

Sadly chivalry and honor are just about dead along whith good morals. Plus there are way worse things then black friday that made me lose my faith in humanity.

Seriously cavara? you can get those at the two dollar shop any time. And they wear down your sweaters like limestone. I appreciate you were exagerating on the 5am line, but this product is just not worth the effort of using it.

i just realised the joke. durp durp.

I'm going to try emptying all the clothes and toys out of my closet and attic. It's not great, I admit, but it's better than nothing.

Bullshit, bullshit and bullshit. Lose faith in humanity? Be my guest. It's your loss. The world is, statistically, getting better and better.

That was enlightening.

After your vapid whining misanthropist text-vomit, I figured you required additional education.

You're welcome.
  • #15

Yeah, the world has supposedly been going to shit for like, what, a thousands years now? All I see is that crime rates have plummeted and people don't murder each other over petty discrepancies and small blasphemies in broad daylight.

They do it in private.

I was halfway expecting those to be links to porn suggestive material.
And I suppose this world's pretty f**ked up when I think about it.
So I won't. Blissful ignorance.
  • #17

Thank you for demonstrating how fucking little you know me, Mace.

The world is not perfect and I won't say people are inherently good either but reason is gradually, irrefutably, asserting itself.

I am going to call out every person that hops on that whining misanthropy bandwagon bullshit.

Being violent and stupid are two of humanities most outstanding qualities. That will never change.

Well, the percentage of people who die violently has been dropping dramatically over the last couple centuries.

The crime rate has been plummetting.

IQ has been going up by an average of 3 points per decade.

So actually, that's entirely the opposite of present trends.

How is that even determined? From what I understand they reset what the average IQ is to 100 every year.

Just because something decreases dosent mean it's still not outstanding.
  • #24

See, this is why I treat you like shit. It's because you say dumb shit like this. Because it is "outstanding" (which has to be the poorest word choice I've read since Romney stopped talking), we are working on it. And winning. And that's STILL not enough for you because your views on this are so fucking short-sighted that you can't see what a tremendous step forward it is in regard to the entire history of human progress.
  • #25

Furries like to bash humanity and talk about how evil it is because they think they are anthropomorphic foxes who are devoid of sin and spend their days innocently yiffing the hours away.

Spread the word. Educate your minds.

Were always questing for knowledge or information. All in all were doing preety dam good compared to what we strted whith. Your piss off button is very sensitve. I'll behave myself.

I like how this thread stopped being about Black Friday really early on. I am surprised that it became a "humanity is pretty good actually" thread spurred on by Jerk of all people though. The bashing bluefox thread, well, not so much.

Oh and my only response to Black Friday madness: only fun with friends for the experience. Oh vision quests...
  • #32

I know right? But bandwagon misanthropy is just annoying as fuck. "OH NO SOME BAD SHIT HAPPENED THAT MUST MEAN HUMANITY IS INHERENTLY EVIL."
  • #33

BlueFox, are you actually aware of what Ouroboros is/represents outside of FMA? And what does your having a tattoo have to do with your sins?
  • #34

I got 5 seasons of house for 12 dollars instead of 20.

Ouroboros often represents selfreflexivity Especially in the sense of somthing constantly recreating itself. As well of about two or three more meanings.

That's some deep shit. I bet you're very intelligent in real life.
  • #37

If I recall correctly, Ouroboros is most commonly used to represent infinity, but I suppose your answer works. It's usually depicted as either a snake or a dragon biting its own tail.
Just making sure you knew what you were talking about.
