Ship AugustusXDavid just because it horrifies Radial.

It's so tragic. They could never make love to one another because they both have dicks that tear any living thing smaller than a horse a second anus.
  • #3

I totally just realized that this comic is about animal feels.

Augustus your life sucks kill yourself. :3

Gotta make sure that booze ain't wasted, eh Augustus? ;) Should I guess it's close to (or past) new year and that Augustus deadbeats for parents has been drinking? Seems like they are so useless that Augustus would really be better off without them. It's certainly one of the good reasons he didn't let Lucy tag along. But if she actually had gone that far to see how Augustus lives, maybe she would have some re-considerations over her own life. :smirk:

Augustus is wearing that poncho which indicates this takes place before his junior year. Still, I wonder why he's heading out. Maybe he's just going to distance himself from his parents for the coming new year.

I also thinks Augustus' parents was doing a 69 in the couch until his mom got tired and rolled off onto the floor.

"Back to the present day! No flashbacks this time, I promise" - description says. Maybe Gussie just came back to his old style :)

New chapter! I'm excited for this!

As has been noted, this is in fact the present day, most likely New Year's Eve. Also, Augustus is just cleaning up a bit from his alcoholic deadbeat parents by setting a bottle back upright. While he himself may drink from time to time, he tends not to overdo it (unlike his parents).

His parents also appear to have left the door open, thus making the house cold and potentially waking him up. Guess he's going to leave for a while. Wonder if he might wander over to Tess' house to see how her party is getting on?

At least Augustus still has a house to live in, and a room of his own (threadbare as it is). If he could support himself and find a better place to live, he probably would. Until then, he's pretty much stuck with his parents.
  • #9

So, yeah, isn't it kind of normal to get drunk on New Years?
  • #10

I'm guessing at least one of the adults passed out is not blood-related to him. Alcoholics never seem the type for fidelity.

Myself excepted.
  • #11

I'm looking forward to the next page already.
  • #12

An Augustus chapter! YES! :D

Is that his father, or just some random junkie his mother found?
  • #13

I'm not sure. It kinda looks like that person has dog ears, but maybe it's just drool on the couch.

As far as I know, Augustus' parents are still together. They may be completely useless wastes of space, but at least they still drink together!

Anyway, I don't see any dog ears. Those look like cat ears hidden behind the arm of the couch.

Just to see the look on Abbey's face, I would gleefully approve.

Given that Molly is already ten years old, she doesn't have long to live. Less than a year and a half. XD But yeah, "you won't last till midnight" would probably have been a better choice of phrase, unless for some reason it's actually supposed to be a subtle allusion to "Disaster Dominoes".

Kevin playing Connect Four with the kids. He's a great foster father, thumbs up to him.

It would be creepy if Augustus were watching the scene from outside. I doubt he'd care that much about Abbey though, unless he just happened to be passing by. Though if Augustus is in fact watching, I bet he wishes he could trade his own parents for people who actually gave two shits about him.

Augustus and Abbey IN THE SAME STORY ARC? :O

Because we know how well that works out. http://www.bitterswe...om/c40/p18.html

Edit: He should have kicked Augustus' head in. What a pansy. :C

Hum. I just realized I spent like 5 minutes going over connect 4 strategies.

(Hint, it would be super easy for Molly to win right now)
  • #24

Molly can actually win in three turns easilly.

first, place a red piece on top of the t-block shaped group. the dad would be forced to block off a diagonal win. then, another red piece in the middle column, and then the dad is trapped

A wild Sam appears! This chapter is not about Sam though, nor even David. It could be about the person who's the focus of concern on this page: Lucy. In any case, it does seem we will cover a variety of characters, especially with Tess' New Year's party occurring this night.

It can probably be inferred that Lucy has chosen to spend most of the holidays cooped up in her room without interacting much with anyone. The gift from Paulo was a brief morale boost, and following that the pets did manage to get Lucy out of the house for a bit, but then Mike walked by again, reminding her of what had happened one week previously.

I wonder if Lucy will choose to stay in the house as per her usual habit of late, or if she'll be encouraged by her concerned family to get out and go to Tess' party. Or maybe she'll simply decide to go for an introspective walk in the snow, and so run into Augustus and chat with him.

Also: these watercolours are gorgeous.

Its a chapter about Jasmine, duh.

I'm kind of afraid it might though...

You mean you're afraid this is the chapter where Paulo dumps Jasmine's ass for Lucy's? :P Don't think it will happen quite that way, though in the medium term that is essentially what I'm speculating will happen.
  • #32

Lucy's upstairs reading Fifty Shades of Gray. Paulo's out being white trash. Jasmine is praying to the porcelain god after having taken a meat booster shot of Paulo's welfare tadpoles to the uterus.
  • #33

Haven't seen this guy for a long while, but for once, I'm actually happy to see him again. :)

I wonder what role will have in this chapter, as well as any plans he might have for Mike (provided they actually encounter each other again)?

I'm not sure Sam will have much of a role in this chapter, any more than Molly will. They're minor characters, after all.

I could suggest that Sam will offer to drive Lucy to Tess' party, but we all know how she feels about Sam's driving. Heaven forbid that Sam should find out Mike is the cause of Lucy's despondency though; he's even more protective of Lucy than Jordan is.

prediction: Lucy is made to attend an all-girls boarding school where she learns the magic of lesbianism.
  • #36

Whatever it is all 3 of them know what the plan is, maybe it's simply a case of getting her to see a therapist? Lucy might see that as abandonment because her own mother thinks she's gone loopy. I wouldn't be surprised if they were considering getting her out of town for a bit maybe as well to stay with Sam, though that seems a little drastic (presuming none of them knows why Lucy has become even more of a hermit than she was before...)

I guess she got worse after Mike's appearance, if the family is at the point of crisis talks a week or so later.

The brown is Lucy's elephant entering the room.

The funny fact is that Sam is only 19 years old, so he's not that much older than Augustus.

Funnily enough, I had kind of the same thought as Kaxbe upon first reading the page. But I think jennytablina is more likely to prove right: that Lucy's family is considering getting her to see a therapist. And perhaps that would be a wise move, as Lucy could then talk things out in private and get a grip on her emotions so that she can start to move past. After all, Abbey benefited from seeing a therapist, and Lucy knows that, so perhaps she herself would be open to that.

Launchpad McQuack wannabe.

I honestly hope it's a therapist. The way they're talking about it, it sounds like they'll be shipping her off somewhere.
  • #43

did you know you can ship your cats off to a professional breeder when they're in heat
  • #44

Lucy's mother is just concerned over having her daughter thrown into the dungeon. Sam has come because he's going to take Lucy away and get the job done. Sam comforts his mother by saying Lucy will understand this is for her own (and all the other's) good. Lucy's family will now do what's the only right thing to do.

I also gets a feeling that what happened between Mike and Lucy is meant to remain a secret. Lucy already has bottled up an unhealthy amount of guilt over Mike. The last thing she needs is to have Sam the Terminator burden her conscience with even more guilt. Lucy indeed needs help in getting a grip of her emotions. Even if she can potentially sort her own feelings out, it would possibly take so much time that it could stretch past the intended BCB timeline.
  • #45

I also thought 'This is Lucy entering the room', but I think it makes more sense for it to be Lily.
  • #46

Sending her to a therapist?

It would be funny if it were Lily addressing the other members of Lucy's family. Would they necessarily take heed of a pet, even a wise and knowledgeable one?
