Lucy's look of mild annoyance in the last panel makes me feel sorry for Paulo and what's about to happen to him. Even if he pours it all out and touches her heart, he's still going to get rejected because, yeah, she's not ready right now. She needs distance and time at the moment to deal with the fallout of emotions over Mike breaking their friendship.

The school play takes place at the beginning of January. Given that Lucy wanted to jump off a building on New Year's Eve, I hardly think she has fully dealt with her depression in such a short period of time. Consider that she'd been dependent on Mike for years. Such a thing cannot be gotten over in a mere few weeks. Lucy ought to be going to therapy for that, really. And hopefully she is now; I don't know what her family was considering doing with her.

While it hasn't been revealed what Lucy's true intentions on the roof were - a sane person does not stand on the edge of a high rise building normally. She may of more been half admitting that she couldn't bring herself to actually follow through and jump despite pottering about on the roof. Suicide is not a thing taken lightly, Lucy may of been considering it for a while, and from the way the family talks in "Midnight" - major things had to be happening at home to make even her younger brother incredibly concerned for her welfare.

Is it me or does the 5th panel have the first hint of emotion we've seen in Lucy for a while? She was pretty much dead eyed throughout "Midnight" and the one time her eyes were properly visible in "Just Beautiful" was the wild-eyed anger when she snapped at Yashy. I don't know if the puzzled or slightly curious look is a positive sign, it's like she's almost herself for a moment, but Paulo admitting he's missed her throws her right back into her emotionally dead mode. Looking back at "Peace of Cake" - she also went funny during the phonecall when Paulo said he missed her then too, so that doesn't bode well for this attempt really.

And you never considered that Lucy might try to lie to Augustus about her intentions? Methinks Augustus guessed right, and she was at the very least thinking about throwing herself off the building. Especially since she turned back towards the ledge at least twice during that conversation, and Augustus restrained her both times.

Augustus is not that shitty. He actually cares about Lucy to the extent that he wouldn't want her to commit suicide.

If I had to guess, I would bet that Augustus simply walked Lucy home without saying anything. That is, unless Lucy actually asked him for advice once more.

You might be right wacko, but I keep going back to the fact that she smiled/smirked after Aug screamed "WAIT!!", thats what keeps bugging me. On top of that if Lucy really wanted to jump she would have reguardless of Augustus' intervention (she was up there a long time after Aug left. if she wanted to "end it all" she could have easily done it after he slammed the door).

She also smirked at the end of the call with Paulo in "Piece of Cake" - it's not an actual smile, it's a silent mocking expression, as if to say "oh how foolish of you to think of me or to worry about me"

Lucy didn't jump because she ultimately couldn't go through with it, MAYBE if Augustus hadn't been there - she might of screwed up the courage to do it. It may be that Augustus's plain disgust at her somewhat childish protest made her stop and think about things for a bit, or even the fact that Augustus was effectively saying "look fine, you want to make your own decisions, so I'll let you have this one".

She could have, but she didn't. Why? Because of what Augustus said. He created the expectation that he would be waiting for her after she'd finished whatever she was planning to do, which in my opinion was a brilliant tactic. And I'm sure during her thinking time Lucy considered well what else Augustus said: that she had people who cared for her. Not to mention what Augustus had said before about throwing her life away just because one boy didn't like her anymore.

To be honest, I think Lucy's obtrusive way of trying to reconcile was really pushing the limits. When Mike made the statement she should leave, it was wrong by her to respond with a bossy attitude. When she tried to justify her act by claiming their supposed friendship meant being able confiding in any information, she did practically shot herself in the foot when she couldn't handle the news about Sandy's visit.

An additional note to matter is it looks like she was trying to seize Mike's phone on the fifth frame of this page. If that is the case, she wouldn't only have been crossing his boundaries, but also done an outright violation of his privacy.

On top of that, if there is something I'd refer to as totally uncalled for, it would be the time when Abbey lashed out on Mike. Abbey pushed Mike down and proceeded with going for a physical attack on him when he was still lying on the ground. Somehow it feels unfortunate Molly was there to stop Mike from shredding Abbey's hands.

While at it, Paulo's Cheater Beater Squad is a perfect example of unjustified violence.

One of the only reasons people hate Mike and defend Lucy is because he bottled it up inside and let it explode, Lucy did it gradually. I think maybe he handled it in the wrong way, but everything he said was generally warranted. Basically, I should stop being so defensive over every little thing people say about Mike, but I get surprisingly frustrated when people take Team Lucy and I end up starting arguments, so sorry for that.

I agree with you almost completely, my problem is not with what mike said but how he said it. Mike should have said he didn't like Lucy ages ago when they were young/er that way she wouldn't have became so attached to him but he didn't and as much as I hate to say this, it seems that mike has half a braincell. So from that I can assume that he didn't hate her when they were young/er and from there we make a great jump to almost current time. I don't think that many people are, If we fully embrace the Bcb world it would be better for Lucy to have Mike as a friend due to psychological reasons (I'm not trying to sound smart I just don't want to turn this post in to mini lecture like the others), however I do believe that Mike will leave and if he's anything more then a friend to Lucy things won't end well for her and Lucy being Lucy it won't be fun for her friends either. although I think that both Mike and Lucy could use a good wake-up slap, they need to move on, and I include mike because him moving on then bouncing back to sandy started this mess (I'm not blaming Mike most of his major choices up to now have been crap through no/small mistakes on his part)

when a person hits the wall they tend to hit it hard and that's what mike did, if he'd slowed down a bit everyone would have a lot less but-hurt, except for Paulo this has gone good for Paulo. Anyway, all im doing now is repeating what I said earlier with new metaphors. This is probably a sign i should get some sleep

Paulo needs to turn around, face Lucy, and simply admit that he has a crush on her. Otherwise, he won't get anywhere. Even getting rejected would at least mean an answer (however depressing it may be) and then he could get on with his life.

Granted, he could've picked a much better time to do this. But apparently he's barely even seen Lucy this week at school, so I can't blame him for taking the first available opportunity. Wonder if Lucy has been doing more than just therapy? Maybe she decided to check herself into a mental hospital, as that was what her family was discussing earlier?

Paulo's left arm looks weird in the last panel, although it could just be that the line of his back continues up rather than stops at his armpit.

I'm already preparing the sponges to soak up Spacemouse's tears. I mean just look at Lucy's face, she could not give a shit about this.
