Curtain Call
Obviously, the situation is constructed on a solid foundation of awkward, there Paulo just jumped out of the same room Lucy is in, while coincidentally being all sweaty and having his fur roughed up.

Nice to know that Paulo can just fluff up a bit and look normal again. Hopefully his boner isn't giving him away.

That's still what I think. Paulo could have freaked out because Lucy kissed him without showing any of the usual emotions that would normally be associated with an invitation to make out. In other words, being physical while keeping herself distanced emotionally, so as not to become attached to / dependent upon Paulo the same way she was with Mike.
Mike will be his usual bitter self, no doubt. Annoyed with Lucy because he thinks she's created yet another victim of her dependency habit, and quite possibly also annoyed with Paulo for taking advantage of her (if so, oh boy double standards). Will he mind his own business and simply ask for a read-through of the upcoming scene, or will he choose to comment on what he just saw? If the latter, this may be where the play falls apart due to the resulting friction.

Also, wacko gets to overthink this. Generally speaking, he is likely smarter than you and so provides more insight than any other casual fan. His input contributes the story; unless it's Taeshi popping in to clarify something or Suit dropping in just to sodomize your theory with common sense, Wacko is pretty much the undisputed voice in here.

I simply stated that people might be over thinking things, whether I am right or not doesn't matter, because my goal was to remind people that things might be simpler then they are making it out to be.

Occam's Razor certainly has its place, as indeed people often do construct theories that are more elaborate than is really necessary to explain the evidence. In any case, wild speculation is half the fun; the other half is showing people precisely why their assumptions are wrong.
Discussion is welcome here; what is your theory to explain the panels as we see them?

Lucy is just be feeling awkward from the sudden change from making out with Paulo to dealing with Mike.
I know crazy speculation is fun as hell, but if it's all the time it's just not the same.

Overthinking things is a privilege when the result of what you have to say from overthinking them contributes to the conversation. It's a badge of honor insofar as one has said enough relevant and interesting things that they can go ahead and do this. So, naturally, I do focus on who is saying what because not everyone has a track record of making excellent points and observations. It's generally true that a lot of people who overthink things aren't worth reading; not so with wacko. As you're not a regular contributor, it's pretty presumptuous of you to assume you can apply your own standards to an established forum dynamic. Moreover, nothing is likely that simple as the comic has gone on long enough to establish precedents for any kind of speculation and avid readers can use those to their advantage when putting forth a new theory. Yes, it might be simpler, but there's plenty of evidence you have to ignore in order to draw that conclusion.
I digress: if you don't have anything insightful, interesting or funny to add, you're just wasting everyone's time by knocking on analysis you don't believe is needed when everyone else who engages in it has some amount solid evidence to continue on with those assumptions.

People who overthink things aren't necessarily worth not reading, even then they could bring up or spawn valuable points in the reader. Furthermore who is to say for certain who thought too much or too little?
I personally thought some of the people here (I was not thinking of anyone in particular) were overthinking things, and I hoped that some people would notice that thus potentially spawning more discussion.
It could be more complex then less, but you start having to make presumptions/assumptions to make a solid theory.
Also I am sure I'm not overthinking people are overthinking, as it's just an impression. If I was that would be Irony so strong it would have to be an alloy.

i feel like a lot of people are just along for the ride and don't care all too much about "overthinking" the comic. it's just an enjoyable read that i feel doesn't require too much thought.

While your theory, on the face of it, could explain the panels as we see them, I feel that it kind of ignores what has gone on previously, and the character dynamics previously established. For example, on page 12, panel 3, Paulo is dashing out the door. Given that he's exiting so hastily, I feel that he is already uncomfortable and making that face before he even notices that Mike is there.
As for Mike, we've seen before that he got annoyed with Lucy for being overly friendly with Augustus. Mike had stated earlier that Lucy was dependent on him, and he was not wrong in that. Hence in "Call Waiting" he made the assumption that she was transferring that dependence to others (in this case Augustus). So it's not unreasonable to guess he's making the same assumption here: that Lucy is now clinging to Paulo. What Mike doesn't know is that Lucy has changed as a result of what happened in "December", and is now trying not to be dependent on any one person. This is somewhat borne out by the fact that she hung up on Paulo before he could talk too deeply with her.
As for Lucy's expression: you may notice that nowhere in the previous pages of this chapter does she express warmth towards Paulo. In fact, she seems a bit annoyed at first, and then when she does ask him to make out with her, it's totally by surprise and with this weird piercing look on her face. I think Paulo picked up that something had definitely changed with Lucy, and that's why after the kiss, he left the dressing room with the uncomfortable look on his face. After all, we the readers know about the reason for Lucy's depression, and her potential suicide attempt, and her conversations with Augustus, but Paulo does not; in fact, he has barely seen Lucy in three weeks!
Anyway, that's my reasoning. We shall see soon enough who is right.

Well very likely she has chosen that way but is unable ,or maybe even unwilling, to completely do that. I sort of think that because of the very subtle changes that occur in her facial expressions, like she's trying to hold it back but can't completely. Other than that, Wacko, I agree.
I'm just kind of frustrated in trying to read her face; I think I'm sort of on to something, maybe, lol. I hope this isn't too minor. e_e;
...
Anyway, I do like being stumped, it makes this more engaging. Well done, Taeshi.

I would find it odd that Mike would immediately assume Lucy is shifting her dependance to Paulo right now, because in those other situations Lucy was the one being more friendly to other people then usual.
Mike knows that Paulo came to her and he is always nice to her, He also has no idea what they did and how out of it Lucy is. It isn't too farfetched for Mike to just assume Paulo hit on her and she kicked him out.

So now we have Mike.
Either, he will still continue being self centered and call Lucy out on being what he probably considers a bit slutty, or if she was doing it for his attention just wait for her to say "Don't you care?" before saying "No, not really. I always knew you were a whore." or something olong those lines.
He feels bad about what he said and has been over thinking things, as he was before which led to said conversation and was planning to apologize during the play, away from the accusing eyes of Lucy's pets, but after seeing this will continue to be angry and say "I was planning to apologize but you don't deserve it!" or fume silently at her as he tells her she's on soon, or even after calling her name and she does not respond merely leaving.
Or he might still try to apologize, though Lucy will most likely ignore it and continue her "Woe is me I must ruin my life and go out with a bang" policy we have been seeing for the past little while.
