Fat Cats Why are there none?

I have two cats at home, none of them are very slim. In this comic, though, the only fat/obese character I've seen is the pervert in the bar in the Confrontation chapter. Imagine what this does to my cats' self-esteem! Or, to put it seriously, what is the cause of this lack of obesity? Any theories?

That is indeed a very very good question!
Kudos to you ;)

This very question was also posed in the old forum. We reached the conclusion that McCain is a bit chubby, but otherwise the lack of obesity is because BCB is a magic wonderland where everything is perfect (apart from the obvious stuff, like people being silly and everything containing drama and bullying and falling from cliffs and so on). ^_^
  • #3

Wonderland for them bodies, eh? Well, I have a different theory >:3

I realised I have rarely seen anyone eat in this comic. Maybe there is a food shortage Teashi's not telling us about? Mike clearly states that he is very hungry in the Confrontation chapter when he's offered the chocolate.

Somewhat improbable, what with Michael catching fish and Tess's party having rather a lot of things for people to stuff their mouths with. But fair enough. :smirk:

Tess is rich and Mike catching a fish was... ahn... I'll get back to you on that later. 8-D

Kids walk to school, have gym class, make the right eating choices. Except David, but he spends so much time off-screen in absurd hijinks, he burns off the calories fast enough that it doesn't matter.
  • #8

Taeshi is lazy (hmmm, kind of ironic).

I'm not sure wether to laugh at that or be offended by it.

But seriouly, America is a diverse place. I do wonder why there aren't any larger people. Probably because it's very diffrent to draw.
  • #12

I vote that Taeshi should work out a deal to have Garfield as a guest appearance in BCB.

That'll fix the problem well enough.
  • #13

All children testing positive for obesity, retardation or religion (redundant) are aborted or gassed.

These anthropomorphic cats and dogs have the strength of will, the courage, to do what we cannot.

I, for one, salute them.
  • #14

That can't be true. Just look at David. 8-D
  • #15

Well, I think we're closing in on something... Taeshi hating fat people is one reason, but the wealthy Tess thing, and that Mike decided to chase the fish rather than seek his friends... Maybe the class differences are extreme.

No, wait, I'll work on a fat fanchara... woops.

David isn't anywhere near as stupid as he seems. Immature? Yes, but prone to rare insight.
  • #18

And very bad advice where Paulo is concerned. 8-)

i am actually a fattist :-[ Apologies.

Anyway I think part of the reason is because the characters were just designed that way, and I mean I've been considering adding some pounds to characters, but who? They're all relatively athletic/active. I've been wanting to have Daisy get bigger because of her ragamuffin gene but I've been implored not to do that by Souppy because she's like his favourite character, HA.

I just don't see the need in the characters I have so far.
  • #26

She gassed the fatties like she did with the retardeds and the religious characters.

And she did it to the Gay Character too. HMMMMM...

hahahaha i've been wanting to make characters religious as well, but I can't do that or else I'll hate them :(((( *Hit*

I seriously just assume some characters are "religious because of their parents" but they don't EVER really mention it or talk about it because they don't really care. I mean that's how I was at high school and how many of my friends were. I can picture Mike and Lucy's family as christians, but they would be all "huh" about it.

Or rather Mike would be accepting and Lucy would be all "fuck that noise i wanna sleep on sunday :l"

Mike and Lucy used to go to church in the old series, then again. ha ha ha

Relax, that was funny ;)

Someone, please draw a fanart with chubby characters!

Oh, don't make Daisy grow in weight... She's a cheerleader!
She'll cry ;_;

We could assume there was no concept of religion too.

The technology in BCB is too primative for a world that would have no concept of religion. As shown before the cars do not hover, the cast does not teleport to school, and there are no holograms. If science was the only thing that existed we'd have these things in BCB but whatever religions that exist in BCB prevent this from happeneing...what were we talking about anyways fat cats or something? I unno....fat David :|

I guess it'd be kind of tough to introduce religion to the series now. I mean, I guess I can see Abbey and Daisy going to a church of some kind "off-camera" so-to-speak, and maybe even Paulo and Mike. Lucy, not so much. And Sue even less.

But David is a closet-Muslim. You know. Like Obama. 8-D
  • #31

Science isn't always hindered by religion (just lots of the time). I wonder... the cast celebrates Halloween and Christmas, both of which have religious roots. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them even go to church, and they just don't talk about it with each other / we never see it.

And just after I write this, I read Tae's post above. :smirk:

Hee~

Actually, advanced science probably would not exist if it were not for religion. Consider Muslim and Jewish scholars in the Middle Ages, or Christian philosophers in classical antiquity, or even the scientists from the Age of Enlightenment and before. ^_^
  • #33

Actually, very little of modern science contradicts religion, at least Christianity. In fact, up until recent time, the church was enthusiastic about science on technology, evolution and such, and mostly displeased with the new astrology. Only when Darwin adjusted the already existing theories, and at the same time clearly contradicting essential Christian facts, did the church really begin separating from the modern science. And from then on, science has been more obsessed with being separate from Christianity than Christianity has.

Yes, I'm currently reading a book on this :3

But hey, maybe the lack of supreme technology forces them to use their bodies, keeping them in shape.

Will go right in the oven.
And not the cute "Hansel and Grettel" ovens either, oh no.
Think: Auschwitz.
That is where all fan characters go the moment they leave your head.

Well, Taeshi doesn't have to make a character fat or create a whole new one when she could just make an already existing one get knocked up. Yes yes, technically it wouldn't be a fat character, but it's a start :)

Question: Would Suitcase like Daisy if she put on a hundred pounds? Two hundred? Three hundred?

She just seems like one of those women whose looks would go downhill pretty fast. I mean, have we even seen Daisy's mom? IS SHE A FATTY?! IS THERE A FATTY HIDING IN THE BACKGROUND?!
  • #45

Depends if she keeps her wonderful personality. I'd still love her as a character then.
  • #46

She's the sweetest whale in the world. Abbey would start to dress like Ahab during foreplay.
