o.k,
so lets talk about Paulo.
what the fuck ?
i mean really,what the fuck is wrong with him ?
out off all characters,it's safe to say,his love life is,by far,the the most active and most complicated.
the guy just seems to make all the wrong choices,avoiding a meaningful relationship at all cost.

let's review for a second and see what he's been up to so far:
we start the comic with him being a typical,kind of cliche,"cool pervert" character.
you know the type... the guy that if he was a real person he would be in jail for sexual harassment.
it seems he only wants to "bang" Lucy,but wait !
later we find out that,not only is he in love with her,but,in fact,he changed his entire personality in an attempt to get her.
terning him into what he is now. (or possibly into what he was "then",seeing as how the character changed since.)
and then comes tess. the most successful of all self insert fan characters.
he falls in love with her,for reasons equally shallow as the ones that made him like Lucy.
let's face it... he liked lucy because she was pretty,and he liked tess cuz she was kind of slutty.
and so the horror begins...


this is where the shit hits the fan.
they go on vacation,he has a chance to fix his crumbling relationship with tess and...
A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS !
or should i say old ? yep,daisy.
while he's knee deep in tess,he suddenly decides who he REALLY likes is actually daisy !
forget for a second the fact that while daisy was depressed he didn't do jack shit.
forget even that she doesn't,never had and never could have any romantic feeling for him,whatsoever.
he's in bed ! with tess ! right now !
but no,he loves daisy now.
so he somehow switches his erection to off mode,and leaves.

so what then ?
they come back to the states (this is the u.s.a,right ?... alternative universe cat USA. but still.)
and he is presented with another golden opportunity to score with someone he actually likes.
(the daisy thing has long since passed in the five minutes between then and now.)
yes,Lucy ! she comes over to his house,ready to jump his bone like it gives out prizes.
but this time he'll make the right choice... right ?
i mean,he's been chasing this girl ever since page 3 of the first comic !(the old one.)
he know what to do,right ?... right ?...
WRONG !
he blows her off (not in a good way.) and instead opt to sleep with two random sluts he never met before.
two random sluts that have been beating his old girlfriend up for about a year now !
(i'm talking about tess in case your getting confused.)
dick move ? you bet'ya !
and then what ? he starts going out with some girl he practically picked up off the sidewalk at a moment's notice.
all this while harboring feeling for... EVERYONE !

so let's recap...
he spent years pinning after one girl,started dating another.
dumped them both while they were LITERALLY throwing themselves at him.
then he sleeps with some girls he doesn't know,and starts dating some girl he just met.
all off this while possibly still having feelings for his childhood friend,who is currently in a relationship...
with someone who probable hates him. (i think its safe to say Abby a might hate Paulo.)

what wrong with him ?
dose he only want what he can't have ?
were lucy and tess only appealing to him when they didn't want him ?
is it the same with daisy ?
will he just dump jasmine when he gets board with her too ?


what do YOU think ?

Yup we discussed this already. All I have to say is that he is confused between what he wants to be and what he thinks he is. He might get some major character development eventually...I think.

Long story short, you really lack empathy and understanding.

Paulo LOVES to act like he's a manly man who is all about nailing chicks, but if you actually understand him, its very obvious he isn't that person at all - that's just a persona he wears.

Does he love Lucy? Certainly. But that's exactly why he didn't sleep with her. Lucy is, in Paulo's mind, Mike's girlfriend; she loves Mike, and Paulo knows it. When she went to him during Another Shoulder, she was scared and lonely; she wanted to sleep with him not because she loved him (because she doesn't) but because she was desperate to feel like she was loved after being so throughly rejected by Mike. Paulo correctly turned her down. He did not realize that Lucy was redeveloping her crush on him. He had no obligations towards her, and the fact that she liked him is utterly irrelevant as to how ethical his actions are.

Does he love Tess? He did, but Tess rejected him. Sure she loved him back, but she refused to be together with him because of her own mental issues. That is entirely Tess's fault; she could have had Paulo, and she chose not to take him. She thinks she made the right decision, but it is obvious that a part of her really does want to be with him. Moreover, when he thought he had the opportunity to have sex with her, he didn't.

What about Rachel and Jessica? Jessica basically used him to get back at Tess; Paulo wanted to be cool, especially in front of David, so went out with her. But he was trying to have fun with her, and lest we forget, she jumped HIM, not the other way around, and afterwards, Paulo didn't feel good about it.

The same thing happened with Rachel, but it was even worse as Paulo was told by Jess that she DID like him; Paulo asked her out and was a nice guy, and again, he got jumped by her. And in the end he felt bad about it as well.

Thus we see the truth; despite his allegedly being a horndog or being a manly man, in truth he is quite kind, but hides behind his more "hardcore" exterior. When he was sort of together with Tess you could see how he behaved towards her, and he is doing the same things with his first real girlfriend, who he hasn't tried to climb into bed with either. In the end, it isn't sex that he craves, but love - he was unhappy when he just got sex without the emotional attachment.

He WANTS the girls who he loves to love him back, and to want to be with him, but only his current girlfriend has fulfilled that.
