I never really got into Anime or Manga that much, I just last year got into Bleach, and that's really it. ._.

Other than that, I love Anime. I would usually read Manga just to see if it's worth getting into it, if it is than I'll watch the Anime.

Anyone suggested SGT. Frog yet? It's hilarious. The manga is better, but the anime still funny.

lolololol the anime is called Keroro Gunsou in Japan, I think they call it SGT. Frog in the USA and maybe UK. But I'm not 100% sure though. :/
My dad has the first, second season of it in Chinese dubs lol. The people who got the videos clipped it from a Chinese childrens afterschool show which made me laugh.

I know. What do you think Gunsou mean. I love the ending disco song. I love to dance to that! 8-D

Elfin Lied
Gurren Lagann
Rave Master
Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
FLCL
Keroro Gunsō
Kaiketsu Zorori
Gun Frontier
A.I. Love You
Cade Closed
Code Geass
Death Note
Special A
Gintama
Mahoromatic
Clannad
Naruto (I guess...)
And I'm trying to remember the name of this one anime where this dude turns into a girl and is forced to fight, him bearing a blue band. He likes this girl who is possibly a lesbian and there's another chick who is sweet and innocent but when she transforms she becomes... the opposite. They also go to this school where half of it is separated for boys and girls. Need more?
  • #106

@ darkwolf you should start with a simple anime like Lucky Star, or The World Only God Knows

FLCL is a very good one to start off with
  • #107

While I did watch Naruto, it caught my attention at times, but I would stop watching.

See my edit.

Darkwolf, I'm starting to take pity on you. Allow me to take you under my wing and you'll learn a lil' more about anime, and how to spot out which fans are dangerous and which are not.

Why's anime so sexual, AKA Hateni (is that how it's spelled?)
  • #119

Henetai wolf it's henetai

This whole Anime.

I just don't know....

And if Pokemon and Beyblades is an anime, then I didn't watch those either.

Exept Beyblades, I kinda just wanted to know how it ends.

And then the Pokemon movies can be somewhat enjoyable, as long as I get distracted every 10 minutes....
........-_-
  • #121

Some are better than others. Anime originates from Manga

Yes poke on and beyblade are anime
Pokemon is based off the game not a anime
Beyblade I think is based off the manga or vise versa

To Love-ru is suggestive in that manner, but it's more funny then sexual. The opening is really something though. By the way, it's hentai (boyXgirl), yaoi (boyXboy), and yuri (girlXgirl). Not all our sexual. Keep in mind, censorship laws are different, such as you can see a woman's tit on a show, but they cannot show the vagina without a little censorship, as with guys and their penis. That also applies with the rectum, which is sometimes just shown as an X or a * on an animal. Also remember that boys bathing (or girls bathing) with each other is not a bad thing, since it is traditional. Plus, some shows you can see a baby boy's privates, but not when he gets older.

Some words in Japanese translate as swear words in English, but they can get away with it in Japan since it is not a swear there. Like in Naruto (with English dubs and Japanese lang), you can hear stuff like "shit" or "bastard", but it's not a bad word over in Jpn.

But, the last Pokemon fans I knew were those anime fans. And that gave me a seriously (ruined my school life so I transferred) bad rep in my wannabe gangster school.

You didn't be a closet fan? Are you fucking serious? You need my help, man. You need to learn how to be a closet fan.
  • #125

Or bleach did like when they censored out Uryu getting his hand chopped off instead his arm is broken

Or when Hyori gets chopped in half instead she just gets pieced in her lower abdomen
Or Harribel's bankai
The show has been really censored because the manga was way more brutal than the anime

I wasnt a fan.
I probably would have been, if they hadn't worn Pokemon clothes and brought cards to school. WHICH WAS GREAT IN 6TH GRADE! Let's all act like adults randomly!
And honestly, I kinda thank them! >:(

You gotta let that inner child come out sometimes. Otherwise, that kid will fuck you over when you're an adult. You'll be there one night on your bed, trying to go to sleep, and then that lil' bugger will keep you awake all night.

Edit: this goes for you too Darkwolf

yeah anime is awesome
just gotta know when and where to start
a good place to start is figuring out what kind of cartoons you like to watch normally, or what kind of stuff you like, and find an anime associated with those interests, and let it progress from there.

In my case, my cousin asked me those questions, i answered: mecha, steampunk, fantasy, action, stuff like that (violence..., this was about 3 or 4 years ago) and she showed me the original FMA series, and i've been hooked ever since, and i tend to watch anime in pairs (meaning i watch two at the same time). heres a list of anime's i've watched so far:

1: Fullmetal Alchemist + Code Geass = (both dubbed)
2: Bleach + Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood = (both dubbed)
3: Evangelion + School Days = (Evangelion is dubbed, School days isnt)
4: Hellsing + Hetalia (what a combination... -_-) = (both dubbed)
5: Gurren Lagann + High School of the Dead (both dubbed)
6: Heroman + Asura Cryin' = (neither dubbed yet)
7: Hayate No Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler) + Death Note =(Death Note is dubbed, Hayate is partially dubbed)
8: Deadman Wonderland + Durarara = (Durarara is dubbed, Deadman Wonderland isnt, but its good anyway)
9: Demon King Daimao + Demonbane = (Demon King is dubbed, Demonbane isnt)

(lots of D's lately)

FMA, Naruto, and Bleach are good places to start watching anime, but arent to everyones tastes. I got a friend interested by showing him High School of the Dead, and my little brother's friends interested by showing them Hellsing (Ultimate/OVA's im not stupid. The original series is not as good) but you really dont want to watch subs first if your just starting out, watch the dubs.

The thing is, you CANT grow out of anime, cuz its not just for little kids. Evangelion is over 20 years old by now and still has thousands of die-hard fans (theyre remaking it with Rebuild). And theres also that anime movie classic: Akira (was on Syfy on Sky recently. it was awesome)

Its not like anime fans like EVERY anime either, and the only real differences between anime and manga, and american cartoons and comics, is the format and country. Theyre more or less equivalents, but Japan loves its mobile suits 8-D

as for manga, Bleach is probably a good place to start reading, but Scott Pilgrim is probably more to the majority's tastes, though its technically only manga-inspired, since it didnt originate from japan, its from Canada (its not officially classed as manga or american comic)

It is hard to suggest an anime because one one person loves, another may hate.
Darkwolf, just us some examples of the Cartoons/TV shows/Movies that you like to watch. This will give us an idea of what you like and can allow us to give better suggestions.

For the longest time, any anime I came into contact with had always been over the top exaggerated weeaboo bullshit, so I never bothered. A particularly cynical guy I know thought FMA would be dumb until he watched it and was hooked, so I gave it a shot and I really like it. Only 10 episodes in.
