/////////////Below was what the original post contained.///////////////

Hello. If I ever do make something BCB related, I'll post it here. Starting with this guy-

Attached Image: McCain.png

I tried to shade it with lines like the method used in the webcomic, but it's harder for me than I thought. So I gues I'll be practicing lines just for making BCB stuff.

There seems to be a border surrounding the pic. or maybe it's just my PC.. anyone can tell me how to remove that?

Oh, it shows up when you use the Attach Files from Computer option. If you want to avoid it, try uploading it to an image hosting site like www.imageshack.us or www.tinypic.com and then post the link here.

Also, that is a really funny drawing. ^_^
  • #2

McCain is adorable in that pic. Good job!
  • #3

very nice man

http://fc01.devianta...l12-d36bj4b.png This is one with Paulo and Jasmine in it. Err... I need better instructions in posting pics I guess.

How exactly do you post pics without using the computer option?

Post the image like this:

Or, in your case:

Then you will get this result:

Oh. I kind of tried that only I used <>. And I keep asking myself what's wrong. So that's my idiot side showing now.

They are always watching. Even when you're just reading the webcomic, they're all secretly looking back at you. Plotting to rule the world. Disguised as awesome characters in a high school drama. Just saying.

Ah, well, it is an easy mistake to make. BBCode, which is what is used here on the forums, uses [] instead of <>. ^_^

I do not understand how you can make such wonderful drawings.
  • #16

Practice. years and years of practice.
  • #17

Yes. Also, trial and error... and sugar.

Bah, I can't draw characters in dynamic poses in my normal style(which is what you see up there.) I can only draw them well when they're just standing. So everything in my art style is still needing progress.

I'm pretty sure people have seen this one over at Candybooru already.
  • #19

If you don't mind me asking, is this done in a pixel based or vector based editor? My dad's been trying to sell me on inkscape, though up to now I've been using GIMP.
  • #20

Quaddy, it's done in Photoshop, so it's pixel based, raster. But since I know how to use GIMP, I'm pretty sure you can make the same effect with that.
  • #21

Cute style, MouseCat! I like it.
  • #22

Hmmm, the artstyle reminds me of something....

The style of the lines is really neat, I'm at a loss as to how you make them. The finished effect is beautiful, and looks so much more polished than any art I try and make.

Wow this is pretty impressive. I don't believe I've really seen an art style like this. Look's similar to heavily vectorized images.
  • #26

I think its just the fat lines that makes your think that. I think Puffy Ami Yumi had a similar style so it could be that to.

Should I post a drawing with thin lines? It would take a whole amount of patience to make thin lines looking really smooth though.
  • #28

MouseCat, try varying your line weight and observe how they affect your drawings. You might learn a lot of interesting new things if you do so.

I was thinking they were just really chibi looking drawings with a stroke affected added to give that clean, puffy look. But then again, I don't know much about this kind of thing since the only thing I can do is simple photo manipulation.
  • #30

Nice art style! Also, the shading looks really good. Nothing wrong with it.
  • #31

Forum people, I... I'm tempted to make a fancharacter. Even start a five page comic about it. Should I? Well, if I do make a fancharacter, I'll probably keep it and use it for original stuff in the future.
  • #32

Get the pitchforks and flaming torches, guys! We've got a fancharacter a'coming!

Um. Why make it a fancharacter? Your art does rock, so why not run an entirely separate, non-BCB story for people to follow? You could put it in Recess, and I bet it'd still be popular.

Do what you like, Mouse. I'd take cues from the other people who've made FCs, specifically the ones who failed at it, if I were you.

Your art style is definitely awesome enough that an FC from you miiiiight be pretty decent. But it's not just in the visuals, I guess. Anyway, that HairLucy and Mike pic is just so damn cute! Great job on that one.

But I think your talent could go towards a fully original setting, and it would turn out better.

No you should not. For what purpose would you use it? Why do you need to insert a new character to tell ANY kind of interesting story about BCB? There's PLENTY of established characters who take the forms of many different types of person. What would adding somebody not associated to the series really even add to it?

Also, transferring a fancharacter into an Original Character is a redundant and pointless endeavor. They would be made to fit the BCB world. Not your own.

If you want to create original content, then that's great! Create away! But don't feel like you have to somehow tie it to the BCB world. Just write your own story, or create a fan comic about the existing characters.
  • #37

Everyone just gave so many points. Well, I won't make a fancharacter, unless I need it to further the story.

But the fancomic is a go, I'll start the first two pages in pencils. Then photoshop it if people like it.

Now that sounds like a plan. I look forward to seeing the results!
  • #39

I have no criticisms here. You have a well developed art style already, and they don't totally look right, but their consistently different and look as though you know what your doing; adapting your own art style to BcB's. Good job, and keep up the good work!

hm I haven't seen this one in the bcb group, have you added it to D.A yet? I absolutely love it when your art is posted there,I always accept it so quickly ^w^
  • #41

It's on DA... it seems I haven't submitted it to the group. But personally, I don't like that picture. The shading and colors are way off. But that's what I get for experimenting.
  • #42

Your art is so cute! I love it!
  • #43

Hey guys, since all you've seen from me are digital stuff, I figured somethings traditional was in order. These are just some posing characters and my lineart. Not BCB related though. They're a bit blurry too, sorry about that.

D'you use a scanner? I'd love to see these colored eventually.

I actually like them better than your digital drawings. No slight intended against them, of course. But I like the occasionally comical figures and the stances. ^_^
  • #48

MouseCat your style is impeccable.

Very impressive work, keep it up!
  • #49

Dr. Klaus, I do have a scanner. And, lineart is the only thing I can do well traditionally... I tried some colored pencils... here's a sample...
Spoiler

===========

Err... one of the reasons why I prefer digital and don't do traditional much is even though you can totally have so much more freedom in line making... I have this terrible paranoia when holding pens, or non erasable stuff for that matter. I get so scared, "Oh god, oh god, oh god, I'm going to mess up, I'm going to mess up." And it feels horrible when you really do. Of course, I think I'm good enough to fix it with Photoshop once it's scanned. But still. What ILB said, I too like my traditional better. But then, I WANT to get better with Digital stuff.

Also, the two pointy eared things in the third picture? They're cutouts if you look closely.
