Don't be silly Raxki, they're just lineart. They don't even take 30 minutes to make. You can do that too if you try hard enough.

See, the kind of paper I use is glossy. These are perfect for lineart. They're not that absorbent so there's minimal threat of even the smallest ink bleeding. Smooth lines, you know. But it takes more time for ink to dry in glossy paper since they are not really absorbed. But glossy paper isn't porous enough. Colored pencils aren't much when used on this paper. But in theory, they should be awesome for markers... I don't have any regular paper right now for colored pencils. That said, I am out of practice when it comes to using those.

Aaaaaaaaaaaa, I really hope that you can conquer your fear of messing up traditional inking because I just think it looks so VASTLY superior ;____; I mean your digital work is great, but a lot of it has this.. incredible wonkiness to it. Especially when you draw eyes.

It's hard to describe, but it's something I noticed when I used flash to make T-shirt designs for spreadshirt. I believe you've stated before that you don't use vectors.. but like.. whenever I drew something in flash and smoothened the lines, Souppy then had to press an automatic smoother tool to see if the lineart was safe for printing (like if some lines were too skinny for spreadshirt)

But like, when pressing the "smoothing" button, the lineart would then go all weird. Like some areas look unnecessarily chunky, and other areas look unnecessarily thin. It requires me to go over the lineart again, only to press the smoothing button and toy around with it.

Like a lot of your digital work looks like you drew it, pressed the smoothing button, and didn't go back to fix some of the lines. Which is really confusing as you don't use flash, apparently?

But like.. there's a free, flowing flow with the way your traditional art looks. The lines look smooth, they aren't wobbly or chunky, it's like you got a good grasp of thick and thin. Whereas in some of your digital works, some lines look confusingly out of place. IMO, though, I don't know what the difference in method is, honestly. But I am totally digging the traditional work.

^^^^

Yes, I do not use Flash. All my digital is done in Photoshop. But, I always thought that the wonky lines were good. Taeshi is the first person to say that there's something wrong. Awesome. I appreciate that.

It is finals week so I can't draw anything new... so I'll bump with some of my old stuff.

Some digital lineart:

The second and third are awesome too~
  • #56

Hmmmm very crisp style. good job friend!
  • #57

heheheh those seem fun :3

Once again, the Pencilled work is positively phenomenal. The foreground objects most certainly "pop" out at the viewer. The color selection is flawless, and the lineart...geez, what can I say. Yet another time that I am suffering from a lack of sufficient synonyms.

For Summer, I am going to try drawing more BCB stuff... maybe some dragons, and Gundams, and DC. Just to take a break from cute stuff. Then you guys can see how much I fail at things that aren't cute. It'll be awesome everywhere.

Raxki, do not call me kitty. You have to wait a bit on those Gundams. I don't actually have full access to my laptop this Summer. The one with Photoshop and Illustrator. There's also the threat of me losing my internet connection one of these days. And the time I do get with the laptop(about 2 hrs per day?) is preferred spent on doing other stuff. I can't even play my games in peace. Mind you, I'm typing this on a desktop.

I did have time to make some comic pages for a personal project.

Man, I love your line work, it looks fantastic!

Keep up the good work. Karo is watching.

Yep. That's Dessy. She's a girl.

I haven't mastered that shiny hair thing I've been doing for this comic's style. Also, I might redo the 'clouds' in p1 some time. Also, I just found out that people really do digital paint using a mouse. Hm.

Just to bump the thread.
  • #74

I don't like the girls legs. They look so traingular >.O
  • #75

She's supposed to be a plain girl. That's her character type. That's also why her breasts can hardly be seen, and her hair is uncombed. Though she looks nice with messy hair. If I make her curvy then it defeats the purpose of being plain.
  • #76

I still think she's hot.
  • #77

But her feet, they are so tiny :S I'm not so much talking about her figure as I am talking about the difference between the other people's legs, both the boys behind her and the shadows of people in the background, and her's.
  • #78

I have this thinking that big feet is more of a guy trait.

There's 40+ characters already drawn, but I don't even think it will reach any part where they're introduced soon.

I moved the owner of the purple silhouette. And... most females appearing in RiGBY have disembodied floating ears, sometimes their tail. University starts at the 13th of this month so I'll be doing some other stuff too. Also maybe draw some other related things.
  • #79

I still must criticize on the thighs of the front girl. THEY LOOK SO POINTY!! IT HURTSS!!!

There is actually a total of 40+ characters for the character line up, but that's enough for this pic. I want to do something else.
  • #83

But there's only four women: Dessy, That one in the right who looks like Katie, the pink librarian-y one, and the evident tomboy on the oversizde white tee.
  • #84

Fiiine, I'll draw 5 more women, maybe get it done before tomorrow ends if all goes uneventful.
  • #85

Do you have a site for your comic, or is it all on deviantart? I love your style!
  • #86

It's only on DA for now. Since I don't work I don't have the budget to maintain a site. And the webpages will be a problem, even if I do base it on some site template the only web programing languages I know is html, javascript and jsp. I've always had a groupmate do the css. Also the mySQL. And even then it would look below standard. I was thinking of putting it on Smackjeeves until then.

Oh, I've been working on those girl characters but... someone else is hogging my laptop right now. The one that has Photoshop.
  • #87

Holy shit, all of that was done in Photoshop? Damn, it's all nice and clean. Just how did you manage that? I have this problem where I have shaky hands as I draw the line, and my linework tends to come out a bit wiggly because of it. Still, though, you have an awesome inking style, and you should keep doing that. :) How long did it take you to draw all those characters?
  • #88

I just used the Pen Tool. It takes... less than one hour to make one character? And I finished 3-4 characters a day. So it took me a good week.

Posted Image

I think I made the breasts too big. And given that 3 of these are rushed I'll redo those 3 and vary the cup sizes before adding to the character line up. Yay.

Well, some of them look fine if they're adults: like the one on the left looks like a teacher of sorts, and the one on the right is hot, keep her that way.

You guys know who they are.

For some reason, I'm tired of this inking style. And the texts I placed there doesn't match with the characters. I'll try making future texts look cartoony.

Thanks for the drawing, I liked the way you drew his scarf.

Hiro, look epic. Thank Mouse
