So um, anyone heard of Noteflight? I'm writing music, guys

It's this really cool website that gives you access to a very user-friendly music-writing software. It even keeps it for you and allows access to works submitted by other people. A lot of people use it to write existing scores for the sake of convinience, or so they can print up multiple copies or hey, some people just wanna play Mad World. Or. You could very well use it to write orginal scores. Ya know, just a hypothetical application of writing music. :smirk:

Okay, blah blah blah, I'm writing music, guys, wanna listen?
Mental Slumber
Insomnia's Dagger
Dance of the Stardust
(Play button @ the bottom left of the score.)

wow. good to see a musician here!

And, no, I haven't heard about that (well, not until I read this) But it reminds me of Guitarpro or tux guitar.....

And I've heard your songs. gotta say, they're awesome. And I like the "Insomnia's dagger"
  • #2

I guessing you have a lot of musical experience! I've never heard of this software before, but it sounds really cool!
  • #3

Dance of the Stardust was pretty good, though it kept sounding like it was about to break into Chopsticks.

The other two weren't great though sorry. Still. Interesting site :)

Wow, that's really fun!
I didn't compose this, it's a song from camp that I haven't found anywhere else.

@01-10010-1011: Thank you kindly.

@akacatgirl: Oh, well, I suppose I've had a decent deal of musical experience, thank you.

@Maverik: I'm honestly a tad ashamed of myself that you like that one best. But that's really only because it's my simplest one and I therefore spent the least time on it and thus love it less. But oh well, ya can't make everybody happy. Thanks for lookin' at them anyways though.

@Quaddy and Sammy: Those are some pretty awesome pieces, guys.

@TheBellBoy: I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Yeah, I know, I just prefer to write with accidentals, it helps me concentrate, and I don't get lost.

How is that in a major key? It is obviously A Minor. ^_^
  • #17

Quaddy, you didn't compose it. You have posted it before and claimed it as someone else's.
  • #18

Sorry, wrong link! I'll go back and fix the post.

  • #21

Certainly has a familiar ring to it...

Bump.

No, I'm kidding! I actually have something to contribute to the topic at hand.

Reborn Asleep

What began as a "Because my teacher told me to" sort of thing, turned into that, over a couple sleepless nights.

Oh, yeah, also, did you guys know, you can export your scores as wav files? I can convert them into mp3s and put them on my mp3 player. 8-D

Thought I would revive the topic. Despite its imperfections (whoever invented dynamic sheets has no idea how to write proper music :smirk:), the site really is quite useful.

Besides, I decided to give the thing a try. So here is one choral composition for a melody I wrote:
Vakn opp, du som søv

And also, this tune I have tried to make an arrangement for (it is still incomplete, mind you; the abrupt end is not going to be there in the final product):
Fyll heile jorda

If I figure out how to do the dynamics, this could almost be fun. ^_^

I might give this a try tomorrow, I like to write music so this might be fun.

I use MuseScore, but I still write some really interesting stuff. Working now on this one really hard piece. It sort of came to me, but the program I used to use was for little kids and needed something more professional so I got MuseScore. It was only after I had finished the first section that I printed it out and tried to play it on the piano only to realise it was SO FRIGGIN DIFFICULT! I was only interested in the notes, and I threw in some pretty difficult passages in there, including an 11th. Luckily, there wasn't anything going on in the left hand for the 11th so I can probably cover it there.
