Kou's Arts Art and Comics, more comics than arts or whatevs.

I don't believe i forgot to draw the popcorn in that bowl, i'm such a terrible artist...
Also, new page.

I wanted to add a Rush Hour quote on the first panel, but unfortunely couldn't remember ones, well, hope it's good anyway.

that looked like a fish skeleton right there o.O I know they're cats and all but wtf
  • #204

Hmm, I believe the easiest way to draw a pile of something (popcorn in this case), is to draw them bottom to top.

Draw the bottom layer of popcorn first, and then add layers on top of them, but behind. Did I explain myself clearly? Also, dont worry about making a perfect array. This is one of those cases where imperfection is better.

Did this ugly pic to illustrate the method better. The arrows indicate where you should start drawing them. The colors sort of indicate the layers.

Keep up the good work Kou! ^^

Thanks for the tips Zoe, will use it the next time i try to draw popcorn again.
  • #206

No problem, dood.

Man, I should make something like...

"Zoe Stellan's ugly tutorials. Short, useful but ugly tips!"
  • #207

Yes you should, it may help other artist.

There's something weird about this style. It's clean. Maybe that's what bothers me.
Looks like this was drawn with curves with some vector graphics program.

Additionally
Panel...
1: "again again" → "again"
4: "If it makes you insist" → "if you insist"
6: Maybe "older" would work better here?
13: "didn't tried" → "didn't try"
14: "Who were you again?" sounds better to me

Actually now that I think of it this sorta reminds me of early QC pages, sans the colouring obviously

It's Paint.Net, kinda I scan the page I drew and later I scan it so later use Paint.Net to digitalize the page, since I don't have a tablet yet.
And thanks for the corrections, english is not my main language.

Also what sounds right? "Who are you again?" or "Who were you again?" ?
  • #211

"English is not my main language" stopped being an issue for me at around fourteen years of age. It pretty much annoys me now when someone says that because it's not mine, either, and I find it extremely simple to write and understand.

(In fact, I find it so simple my typing speed in WPS doubles when I switch from Finnish to English! Normally the increase would be only a dozen words per second due to the length of Finnish words.)

Just because it was simple for you doesn't make it an excuse for other people. English is not my main language as well, but I had the advantage to learn it when I was in primary school - the age where people can learn multiple languages easily. Kou wasn't so fortunate, but he does try.
  • #213

I know. It's just one of the things that bothers me.

why is it that all your characters shoulders are so square? let them relax man. shoulders at the beginning of the neck should be drawn more downward, and then straight to show that the character has deltiod muscles.

Been drawing that for long time now, they are not sooo square.

I actually quite enjoy the bat guy.

As long as the corners aren't sharp, they aren't squares to me.
  • #221

no ones shoulders are straight. unless they are tense.

oh wait i see what you thought i meant. actually i didn't mean literally square. your characters look like their shoulders are constantly tense. they should slope down from the neck

More or less defending Kou, it's the extent of his current abilities.
But don't let me discourage you from giving him critique, the more detailed you get the better he can improve.
Kou, your works are great so far and I hope you do try different tricks to become even greater.

Whatever floats your boat.
  • #226

Kou has a similar inking style to mine. And since I've seen Kou's latest sketches I can say that he's really clean when using pencils. The strokes aren't broken too. So he should improve really fast once he tries getting decent with anatomy.
  • #227

Well, hope I drew well Sandy in this pic.

Well, back to my drawing things, since I've been without internet for almost a week and some days I drew a bit.

Not easy to draw him this way.

Kinda easy this one.

Hehe, That would be a nice image to draw. Abbey's fists raining down from the heavens
  • #241

Well, many things happened, first my computer broke, and needed to buy a new motherboard and instal back some stuff. At least I finished the last page.
Posted Image

Well, I may take a small break from comic making and start with some drawings, I want to draw a bit better, if someone want to make request, be free to ask.

Also, I entered a small contest. I got second place at least.

And I didn't won anything 8-D
  • #242

perhaps you can shade the eyes a little too? Lucario looks too derpy XD
  • #243

It been a wile since I posted anything here, but well, enjoy this mini comic 8-D

I have to thanks Vins and Ved for helping me on pic.
  • #244

Very nice troll face in panel 4.

I wonder if it's just me, but I like your traditional pencil work better than your digital work. That Lucario is nice.
  • #245

It's not just you, Carch.

I quite enjoy your traditional work, myself. Right now your digital is stiff and there's no line weight, but it'll get better over time. c:
  • #246

Well, a rare update. I drew for my friend Mousecat one of his RGBY characacters Felix.

Also it's a first try using Sai.
