Hello everyone!

My name is Tom and I'm an American living in Japan. I've been working here as an English teacher for 6 years now and enjoy it quite a bit, although I am considering a return home in the near future.

I enjoy writing, tabletop/forum roleplaying, studying Japanese and exercising. I also enjoy art and art museums and would one day like to be an artist despite not possessing any drawing or painting skills whatsoever.

I'm 30, which probably places me at the 'crusty' side of things on the age scale, but hey, we're all in the same boat in that regard. After all, time doesn't stop for any of us, unless you're a wizard or something.

I've always had a passion for a good, emotional story, and that's what brought me to BCB. I could go on about it, but this is probably not the best place for it.

Pleased to meet you all. I'm happy to answer any questions, if you have them. Take care!

Japanese humor and American humor are starkly different, so most attempts to joke cross-culturally miss the mark. If you mean making fun of Americans, then, yes, occasionally I hear some of that. A lot of it is stereotypes, but that's with any culture. You'd be surprised though, with how many Japanese actually believe these stereotypes to be true (ie: ALL Americans own guns).
