Also Civilization 4 (awesome) and 5 (newer, haven't played it yet, but looks brilliant).

The Civs are nice if you are into those turn-based city builders (there is more to it than that, but that's what the game was originally built around). The Elder Scrolls series has been nice if you want the epic-scale, mute-protagonist, western RPG.
The few games I've really liked recently is FEAR (FPS), Amnesia (Horror), or Dead Space (FPS).

A good game is a game that you find enjoyable.

I think it'd be easier if you gave us a genre of game you're looking for.

Computer:
Minecraft and Spore.
I recommend watching "Xs Minecraft Adventure".

PS2:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, InuYasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask, Ape Escape 2, and Ape Escape 3.
I own these games. I recommend watching the anime InuYasha before you get the game, though you don't have to.

Trivia: Ape Escape 1 was the first game to need an analog controller.

PS3:
Little Big Planet, Infamous, and Prototype.
I've seen and read good things about them.

Wii:
Epic Mickey and Harvest Moon: Animal Parade.
I have these games and they're fun.

Nintendo DS:
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Scribblenauts.
I also have these games.

Gamecube:
Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Chibi-robo: Plug into Adventure, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
I also have these games. The graphics in Wind Waker is a big change from the norm but it's still good.

Trivia: There used to be a Legend of Zelda cartoon!

Parcheesi.

Why is that not a name recognised by dictionaries? I have yet to find it in any I have searched. ^_^

Also Calvinball.
  • #7

Deus Ex, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age Origins, Cortex Command, Mount and Blade, Iter Vehemens ad Necem, Team Fortress 2, KotOR, Half Life 2.

Though Calvinball does beat them all by a longshot.

Racism? :nope:

And I agree with Westy.

Also, buy a Gamecube and get Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's so much better than this shit that you kids nowadays play.

Also, play Bioshock. And Bioshock 2. And Dead Space. And Battlefield Bad Company 2. These are amazing games. That is all.

I don't have a pet tiger named Hobbes though!
  • #14

Pet tigers named after philosophers are in high demand these days, it seems!

And to answer the original question, Steam, grab the Valve Complete pack; that'll set you up with enough good games for a while.

And I would recommend Brawl over Melee, but given how much cheaper Melee is when it comes to consoles, you're probably better off. Also Super Mario Sunshine is underrated.

Ok I'm gonna argue this I like sunshine, but its not underrated its like Psychonauts the people who like it think its a gift from God and the people who don't like it think the first group is crazy.
  • #17

Not really. I know a few people, like myself, that find it to be a very good game with a few flaws that mar the experience somewhat. I don't know of anyone that would think of it as a "gift from god", but I feel that it is a game that does not get the credit it deserves; underrated.

That being said, I never played Psychonauts for more than an hour. It was fun, but I never went and bought it. I may pick it up on OnLive one of these days.

Professor Layton and the Mystery of why everyone in that goddamn town has a math question for you.

Limp Biscuit is a good game. :D

I guess chocolate starfish and hotdog flavored water was bad enough to be considered a game.

Tag is a good game, depending on your age.

What kind of game are you talking about?
  • #23

SMEAR THE QUEER
  • #24

Free the Dust Bunny. All you need is some balls of lint and a fan with a grate on the front. Great for hot summer days.
  • #25

Dwarf Fortress.

Well, arguably Dwarf Fortress. Depends on what you like in a game.
  • #26

chutes and ladders is the most boss game in the world. Followed closely by candy land (Its a game about what its like in a diabetic coma)

One and the same.

Another good game is to buy a box of donuts for your friends and put a photo at the bottom of the box of you rubbing your dick on all the donuts. Or get some pictures of a friend's mom and start a collection of amateur pornography that looks as similar to her as possible and then send him that porn for his birthday.

The donut one is the best idea ever. HOLY SHIT.

I need to actually buy two boxes of donuts and do that to my friends.
  • #29

Nobody Mentioned Dragon Age? It's the best RPG Game I've ever played.
As for FPS's, I'd say, for now, Black Ops is The Best. Go play it.
Honorable mentions : Spider-Man : Shattered Dimensions, COD : Modern Warfare (Both games), Medal Of Honor (2010), The Sims 3, Borderlands.

all on PC.

I would like to propose that it is good no matter how old and crinkled one may be. ^_^

Hangman is fun, too. Try "onomatopoeia" and see how many who get it.
  • #32

ILB, you just reminded me of that episode of The Twilight Zone where the old man plays kick the can and turns into a kid again. Just thought I'd say that. Good episode.

I remember another Crossfire entirely.

Oh, and if the definition of a game is "something you can play" then that is a game, too. ^_^
  • #45

oh and Red Dead Redemption 8-D

this would be a game then
