saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Saturday. I really enjoyed it, it was very well written and it kept my attention throughout the whole thing. :)

Oh Hell yes, the Tuskegee Airmen. I am going to watch the fuck out of that movie.

But since it's by Lucasfilms, I fear they'll add Jar Jar Binks / anachronistic racial stereotypes.

Look on the bright side because it could be a hell of a lot worse, if it were done by Michael Bay there would be watermelons or grape juice painted on the planes ;)

It actually looks like it has a lot of the positive aspects from Star Wars IV but with computer graphics that don't detract from the aesthetic charms of the original (since this is the original).

Also, you probably haven't heard of them because you are a racist and the history of African Americans does not interest you. :D

I agree, Chewy, Rise was pretty great. The only issue I had with it was the fact that it had two major time skips within the first half hour of the film. That's just poor movie etiquette!

So after seeing the trailer for Sucker Punch, the girlfriend wanted to it because of the whole "in an asylum" setting because she's into those kinda of flicks. I begrudgingly rented from Zune on a 360 and we watched it. Never saw it before and I did not care for it. I found it be to be really "meh" throughout the whole thing.

Sucker Punch is nothing more than Snyder's wet dream in viewable form. There plot is all over the place and so is the editing. There is no real reason to care about any of the characters, who are nothing more than strippers with guns. The only saving grace of the movie was the special effects and composition of each frame, which is pretty much the only thing Snyder really knows how to do when it comes to directing. As a writer, Snyder falls way short and his concept is a tired one which has been done much better by several other directors before him. Those who defend the film usually liken it to a female-driven version of Inception meant to empower the gender. Those people are idiots.

Horses were an essential part of combat in WW1 for the fast movement of men, guns and information. A horse can make it through very difficult terrain faster then a man ever could and keep going through it for longer.

Just saw the new Muppets Movie. I quite enjoyed it and the movie had a nice flow to it (at 2 hours, it felt short because time just flew by. gotta love a movie that doesn't have any lulls or dead spots). The humour was good without being overly corny. There were also a lot of celebrity cameos, either as themselves or as actual characters, halfway through the movie I found myself playing "spot the celebrity".

I loved the Muppets. My sister was too young to have grown up with them outside of Seasame Street, but she fell in love with these "new muppets". I agree that the humor was good without being overly corny. And it was great seeing more obscure Muppets in bigger roles, such as Uncle Deadly as the bad guy's sidekick, or Lew Zealand actually having speaking lines and being incredibly important to the finding of a "celebrity host"

I went with a couple of my friends on Christmas to watch Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. I thought it was pretty interesting. Too many explosions for my liking, but it was still a neat story with likable characters. I want to check out the first film now.

My sister got me Super for Christmas, though I didn't know it had already come out in 2010. I quite enjoyed it, but my feelings are a little mixed about it.

My friends invited me to see The Adventures of Tintin on the 23rd, but I just couldn't bring myself to go see it, I just had a really bad feeling about it... I mean, from what I'd seen they seemed to have gotten Tintin and the Thompsons right, but Captain Haddock was what I was worried about; he was the shit in the cartoon show. Fucking up his character would have ruined the whole thing for me, so I pussed out. Anyone seen it? Is it good? Bad? Is it true enough to the source material? Did they fuck up Captain Haddock!? I don't see David Fox reprising his role as him!

Anything new in the movie world? There's gotta be something that caught your interest recently.

I recently came across one that was kinda hard for me to describe. Called the FP, it's an odd B-movie-ish satire that has an old 80s vibe. "Gangs" duke out out in the form of DDR matches to gain dominance over the local area. What I liked is that the movie treats a lot of silly subjects so seriously, and...well, if it comes out on DVD, it's best to see it with a group of friends who have nothing else to watch on a Friday night.

Transformers 3 was meh. :/
Haven't seen Cars 2 yet.
I have seen the Original "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and loved it.
I have also watched that Rubber movie Kaxbe...it was so confusing and stupid it made a part of my brain die.
I've also seen "In Time" and "Immortal" both were pretty decent. I can't remember what other movies I've seen recently. :O
