Eh I heard that happens in the first 10 minutes of the movie, not really a spoiler.

Tasteless jokes ahoy!

One of the victims had his first kid while he was in the ICU.

If his dad dies, someone has to shoot his mom and name him "Bruce."

And don't forget Wayne as a middle name!

Ain't much fan of Batman though, too much talking.

Then again, i don't real dig Nolan movies.

Audience dying? From what? Awesomeness

I finally saw The Dark Knight Rises, and while it was awesome as with all movies it has it flaws, its pacing being the worse. Still, it was really really really good.

Anybody taking care of him at that point should know what to do instinctively.

And ask him "Why do we fall?" until his ears bleed.

saw The Dark Knight. it was okay. definitely the weakest movie in the series. it's an okay Nolan movie, it's just not really a Batman movie.
  • #309

Saw TDKR as well.

Saw a few movies in the last couple months, thought I'd come by to give my two cents.

Ted: A nice enough comedy, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I think that if you're not really into Seth MacFarlane's brand of humour then you wouldn't get much out of it.

Dark Knight Rises: SEAN CONNERY WEARING A MASK AND ON STEROIDS :D Seriously though, it was a pretty cool movie, lots of action and I thought it had good pacing. People complained about having trouble understanding Bane, but I was able to understand him well enough. I mean come on, context! If he sounds like he's mumbling while standing next to a bomb, chances are he's not talking about a great muffin recipe he found on the internet.

The Expendables 2: A fun brainless action movie, I had a stupid grin on my face the whole way through. It doesn't overstay it's welcome either, in fact it felt short. My only gripe is the audio (that, and the endless stream of inept henchmen started to get tiring) was awful, mostly to do with the actor's mumbling failing to compete with the background music/noise in a lot of scenes. The draw for me to see it was for Chuck Norris, my girlfriend (she wanted to see it more than I did :O) went for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham. There was not as much Chuck as I had hoped :/

Total Recall: I haven't seen the original, so I went in blind. It was pretty cool, the visuals were awesome and the story was cool. The main actor was a bit of a blank slate, but hey, I went to see it for Brian Cranston as a main antagonist  It was pretty suspenseful throughout, too.
Spoiler

The Watch: A big ol' "meh" fest. It was kinda funny sometimes, it had it's moments, but it wasn't all that great. You've pretty much seen all the good parts in the previews and trailers.

The Campaign: Ricky Bobby runs for congress or senate or whatever for the X year in a row and is challenged by an adorably likable fat man. That's pretty much the movie, but that's not to say it isn't enjoyable. I liked it, it was funny (though sometimes just annoyingly obnoxious), but not memorable, if that makes sense?

Ted sucked because MacFarlane is a hack, The Expendables 2 is stupid and if you want a real action movie released this year, watch The Raid: Redemption, there was no reason for Total Recall to be remade it doesn't work

I saw The Raid a little while ago, it was pretty badass.

Went to Wreck-It Ralph last night and I got to say I was pretty pleased with it. It was a cute love letter to retro gaming and really arcades in general. The writer and director really do know gaming so all the references are spot on and are really nice and funny. John C Riley, McBrayer, and Lynch are great and all really play their characters well, though Sarah Silverman was kinda hit and miss. She was just doing this really raspy voice the whole time that you got use to but at first it's just grating.

Over all the story was solid, I got some laughs out of it but it's not overly funny, so if you are looking for a straight up comedy this probably won't satisfy you, but just the gaming references are great enough to make up for not being the funniest movie of the year. I think the humor takes the biggest hit in the fact that it is humor for little kids, like 5 year old will love it but for a 20 year old it was a little meh, but hey it's a kids movie so I'm not really gonna complain too much.

The opening short was great though! It was really cute and sweet though it got kinda...weird in the end. But it was just charming and sweet and had a very cool art style.

Over all if you think it looks interesting, I would say go for it, the trailers kinda make you think there is more game jumping than there really is in the movie but I still found it enjoyable and was overly satisfied with it. I would give it about 3 stars and I do encourage people who love gaming to go see it, even though it's a kids movie so geared more towards their sense of humor.

eh, you kinda sold it as "video game reference: the movie" when in truth, it really isn't? sure, it's kinda an ode to arcade gaming, but it's really not the entire focus? the characters are what i liked. also, they kinda had five storylines running simultaneously without making the movie feel completely cluttered. they converged. it was p nice.

aaaaaand i really liked the short before the movie. it was beautiful. really liked Paperman.
  • #318

I wasn't really trying to sell it as that more that the humor comes from trying to see all references to video games and getting chuckles from that. It's not an overly funny movie but it's still a good movie.
  • #319

references don't make me laugh unless if they're good. video game reference humor just wasn't really there? the extent of that humor was "haha he lost a life" or "lol game physics", which was interesting when carried out but not really outright funny or anything. i laughed at the Wizard of Oz reference, though.a
