Unless you're talking about transportation into or out of the city, cars shouldn't really be a consideration.

Boston traffic sucks and looking for parking at the sort of venues the group would likely be visiting will be tedious, expensive, or impossible. As long as people are willing to pony up the $2.00 per trip for public transportation, that's your best bet by far.

i know driving in boston sucks, i live here

i was more asking because i believe people wanted to go to Salem

I'd figure it out my own, maybe with others if need be. It would give me a day to relax, and i can spend part of thursday morning hitting up the one or two places I want to see in boston. Plus if i get delayed I have extra time. I'm not expecting anyone to accommodate for me otherwise unless it's mutually beneficial.

Oh, sorry. I guess I should've paid better attention; I thought I was the only Boston resident.

Salem could be fun. I'd certainly be willing to offer my car (five seats) for the trip, provided I wind up going.

I was being serious actually, well I guess my pass at humor was just not on par. It's actually a great idea. Besides I don't want to stay at a cheap roach motel. I'd be more than happy to share a room with others.

I was thinking about arriving wednesday too? I kinda thought that thursday would be the first full day of awesomeness, so maybe we can all coordinate some randomness?

Or maybe I could lay in spacey's cat's room and make sure he's healthy (cough cough also could play that one game that starts with a W cough cough)

Depending on where you live, you may be able to catch a ride with someone else. I, for one, would be willing to nab people as long as I'm given fair warning AND they're not terrible far off course (wouldn't want to stray more than 50 miles away from a major freeway unless there's an easy way to do so "nonstop"). This can apply to anyone, so send me an E-mail if you're interested! We'll try and work something out! I have room for 3 others...

A question. If I go to the con, I will go like 2 weeks to visit america (well, its too expensive for going only 3 days).

So my question is, what trip you recommend me? I though on landing in new york, visiting it, then connecticut, and then go to boston.

But, how many days do you recommend me to stay in each city? Are really cool things to visit in connecticut and boston? IF not, what other cities do you recommend me?

Since it's in Boston, and in the summer, I can more than likely make it out to this.
If money is an issue, I'll just sleep in my car, or stay awake for 3 days straight on adderall. :3

kickash, I dunno! Did I even say it'd definitely be in a Holiday Inn? It'd be interesting to know from those familiar whether any of those are in a great spot, though.

Volgrand, I personally think you can spend tons of time in New York City and have a lot of fun there. I would also recommend Washington DC. Connecticut is perhaps less touristy and as such I'm not as sure about it.

Anyway, the next step here is getting a mostly-final list of people. I'll start a new topic soon, unless someoene else has the wherewithal to adjust the list I made based on the 6 pages of information in the topic.

It would be rather awesome if I had the guts to go.
Issues:
1) My parents would definitely be iffy on the idea of me going to Boston to meet a bunch of Internet people, plus also paying for it because I never get money
2) I would feel SUPER out-of-place if all you guys were like college-aged and I was the little 14-year-old fangirl following you everywhere
3) Nobody knows me because all I ever do is lurk

boston's a big town! there are three options i see for hotels:

hotel downtown:
pros: minimal commute in
cons: expensive

hotel outside of subway ring:
pros: cost-effective for commute vs cost
cons: kind of few options

hotel on the train lines:
pros: cheap cheap cheap
cons: long commute in, may need cars.

i am boarding a few people at my place, but i'm already full up

i live at the northern end of orange line, so i'm in the middle area. during peak hours it can take about an hour to get in to downtown.
