Okay, so, summer break has started for me, and I need stuff to draw. I'm having a bit of a "artist's block", so, to force me out of that, if you have a suggestion for me to draw something, I'll see what I can do. Just comment on here what you want, or on my journal topic on Deviant Art: deviantART: akacatgirl's Journal

One note: we all learn eventually that "so" is our enemy. It is unwritten yet forbidden to use "so" in any context when blogging or the like, except when used in comparisons (like "It was so big).
  • #208

It's great seeing your gradual progression in terms of talent and style. You go, girl.

You should draw that nuke scene from Terminator 2 some backgrounds, get in some practise on those. Maybe take a look out your window and draw the panorama, or maybe practise doodling a wall of your room or your house.

I was bored today, and I decided to do something similar to that "music meme", except not related to BCB. It was fun. ^_^ Here:

PS Some of the songs on my ipod I don't really like anymore, but I'm too lazy to take them off. =P
PS And of course, if you want to, you can look at it on my Deviant Art page: akacatgirl on deviantART

It seems you listen to much of the colloquial regurgitation that is music from this century, yet you also have an interest in musicals.

Looks like we need to break you into retro.

Actually, I take theater, and not only is it easy to carry someone, they both were doing it wrong. Not only is it key to support the carried person at the knees and back, but it is equally important that the carried person support themselves by wrapping their arms around their carrier's neck. I myself was carried, and from personal experience I can verify that the main expending of strength is on part of the person carried. My parter dropped both arms and I was using my upper body strength to keep myself up. That's how it's supposed to be done.

Yeah...I have absolutly no experience being carried. XD So, this explanation is very helpful.

Just looking thru the whole tread and I think it's good for someone that young :) The only thing that bothers me a little, is how round the human heads are - there's no jaw. But I really like your attitude about taking advise - instead of just being an arse who won't listen.
I'm what, almost two years older than you, but you do shading better than me - Thumps up for that ;)

Wow thanks!~ I'm still so used to doing animals that I guess my humans still have animal-ish heads. :P I've been practicing humans a lot more now than compared to a while ago, so stick around!

A bookmark I made for a local library's bookmark contest. I drew this about a month ago, yet I turned it just yesterday to the library. XD

If they took Sliviathewolf's sketches, then yeah, they should do.

D: The hand...looks so BLEH. Can someone please give me some more tips on how to draw hands? Also, yay I think I got the head portion of the kiss right. #^_^#
As usual, critiques are greatly appreciated.
Also, if you're wondering what the dark spot on his head is, it's whiteout. Covered with Prismacolor colored pencils.

It's an astonishing improvement on your last romantic scene. If you took this kind of time and effort over your whole comic thing, it would be amazing. As for hands, I think you're missing the knuckles; at the moment, the girl's hands are like a bunch of bent pieces of rubber. Each finger has three joints, and they should all be drawn, or risk making them look totally inanimate. Also, thumbs aren't sharp. One final thing is about your bodies; from the looks of this, you've drawn clothes straight down onto the figures, and so they bulge in all the wrong places. You should draw a figure sketch first, to get the body shape, and then put the clothes on over the top; that way, they sit naturally on the frame. I'd just like to say that looking over this thread gives me hope for your generation; seeing someone so open to criticism is very welcome and indeed commendable.

Well, I'm honestly impressed. I'll give you the same advicve I gave Car, clothes only ever have a finite amount of material to them. Try to get a feel for how baggy or tight different clothes are and draw more/less creases. They also are stretched or relaxed by the joints and movements or a person, and are always pulled down by gravity. You'll do fine if you just keep that in mind and practise.

EDIT: Also, Daisy and Abbey look a lot like dogs. You could try looking a bit more closely at the facial structure of cats and dogs, and making note of the differences in them. Might help a bit.

Haha...sneaky human Daisy....
I really hate MikexDaisy...but Daisy just seems to cheer everybody up when they're down! 8-D
Also, I drew Daisy in her cheerleader uniform because she always seems happiest in it. I couldn't find a picture of the actual colors of Daisy's uniform...but red and white seemed nice on her. :)
  • #244

I think that you've got her left hand mirrored. The thumb should be on the side facing her shoulder, but instead it's facing outwards. Great drawing otherwise.

Do you mean facing his shoulder? I don't really understand how you could twist her thumb backwards to herself like that... XD

OK, so her thumb should be on the right-hand side as we look at it, while the main body of her fingers should be on the left, facing Mike. Drawn like you have, the finger next to the one she has on her lips would be her pinkie. Unless, of course, her palm is facing outwards, in which case I am entirely wrong and I apologise.
