Communist Manifesto (Chapter 1)
But in all seriousness: It still kinda bothers me but, perhaps I am taking this too seriously. As long as no one takes them self as being superior to anyone else, I'm sure it won't be too bad.

To be honest, I think I've put myself into risk. Because people will be getting content they can spread.. so it's a case of trusting people and really hoping that they don't send future content around oh god
also souppy has given me work THANKS A LOT SOUPPY
so to be kind of honest i'm not really gonna be sitting around eating all the money :-[

I will not be getting any membership. Leave no trace, even if the information on the receipts is bogus.

If anything, to me this would be like what they have over at Rooster Teeth productions with the whole sponsorship thing where sponsors have access to new content a day or 2 sooner than regular folk, and it's sure as hell not a big deal over there, with a community a couple hundred or thousand times larger than the BCB community.

I don't see that people would somehow be segregated by this. Having a name in gold (as BCI members soon will!) is just a neat thing to have, not some kind of immunity from moderation or license to be a cock. There's no reason I couldn't ban a person who is a paying member, and I'd consider it if someone started pretending the fact they donated some money means they're a better person!
As far as upcoming stuff goes, it'll stay within the whole BCI thing. Snooths has a valid point, I think. I'll set up a special comment thread inside the members section so members can chat about it privately, but will ask people to not mention future stuff on the forum or IRC. I think that's the best way to go about it.
The point of this is to provide a benefit to people who donate, not to take anything away from those who don't.
ALSO this has so far been a wild success, thanks so much for being so supportive! As noted on the front page, the top 25 people can now get the commission and low number for $59. VERO WILL BE WORKED TO THE BONE

i told you this a while ago but i dont think i like the idea of a members board
on one hand it would be great to keep the discussion of secret member things contained inside but i can also see the board being very popular and while it may not DIVIDE THE COMMUNITY OH JESUS GUYS THIS IS TEARING US APPPAAART it does seem like it would exclude some people and be basically "social studies 2.0" and lots of people would post less on other public forums
im not making a radical assumption here am i? ive just seen this happen everytime something like this starts

It's just a comments section. Which I don't even use in the first place, so.

The reason this is a worry is because I'm being made to reveal future content. And I kind of enjoy the concept of the story being a surprise.. as much of a surprise as a romance drama comic can be. So it would probably make things awkward if people went around talking about it.
So what better way than to have members discuss with other members the content? I think that's reasonable. It's not a case of THIS IS OUR NEW COMMUNITY. It's a case of "oh let's talk about this stuff here"

Will an international member get a warning in a case where a regular member would be banned?
Extrapolating from Jorje's concern, will the administrators be more inclined to engage with international members? Likely the answer is no, but since it seems many of the long time fans who are actually friends of the administrators will become international members, wouldn't it be easy for new members to have this misconception?
Would an administrator or moderator be inclined to take the side of an international member in a dispute where it is clear both parties are at fault?
And etc., etc.
I'm also wondering if that line is actually just a joke, since it seems like it could've been ripped from a snooty ad for a bank, travel, or hotel membership. That seems pretty likely, actually, but I'll ask anyway.

Uhh, no? Just because you gave us money doesn't really give you the right to break rules. Besides, why is this even a concern? We like never ban people. Already we give plenty of warnings. This paranoia is stupid.

I doubt I'll go out of my way to know the first fifty people and I doubt I ever will, other than to ask them what their commission request will be. If you're interesting, we will engage with you. That's how it's always been. There's been people who are complete oldbies who I can't stand. They probably contributed a lot, doesn't mean I have to be forced to like them. It sounds bitchy, but I don't really feel comfortable doing special favours for people just because they wave money at me. It's dishonest and kind of jerkish.

why do you people worry about this, seriously
it's so stupid

I'm in shock. I never buy online things EVER! When I saw this thread and the membership thing, I just sorta went crazy!
I mean, I did look and read all the perks of membership,
let's see
* A member-only gift, included with their welcome letter*
* Two additional exclusive Club gifts delivered during the membership year*
* Early access to comic pages and other Bittersweet Candy Bowl content
* Recognition as a Club member in comments and forums
* Complimentary postage opportunities from the Bittersweet Candy Bowl store*
* Premium ad-free access to the Bittersweet Candy Bowl website
* The prestige and preferential treatment exclusively afforded to Bittersweet Club International members the world over.
These are all cool and all, but what really made my choice was this
"Patronage of the Arts"
I mean, I found BCB in October, enjoying what was literally YEARS of Taeshi-san's hard work, and never gave anything back for it. I planned on buying the book as thanks and all (and still plan on buying), but this came in the right time.
I wanted to support, this is the best I can do, I guess =D
If you are hesitating about if you should get a membership, clear your doubts, remember about the whole archive of comics, think about really helping, giving something back.
And yeah, it the problem is monetary/rewards, it's 39 dollars for a membership, but divide that by 12 months. It's like 3 dollars a month. And you get unique gifts.
It's worth it. They're worth it.
Ah, about the commission drawing, I requested it, but the 300 character limit didn't let me describe much ^_^
Can I do it through e-mail?
I guess... I'm number 18.
Damn, I should be studying >_<
=P

Oh, I'm sorry, Taeshi. I was under the impression that SuitCase had asked for feedback. But you're right. Instead of worrying about an unexplained and potentially misleading aspect of the international membership and giving either of you an opportunity to allay any resultant concerns in a genial manner, I'll take a lesson from the other posters in this thread and adopt an unquestioningly supportive, fanatical attitude so that I can regard such inquiry with the proper degree of contempt.
