I voted Derpy w/e mainly because it has the word derp in it
  • #16

XDXDXDXDXD Oh my god I have no idea why but I loved looking at the votes and seeing Joobles on all of them. Why is that so funny to me?

I voted Dr. Whooves for the sake of reference. I kinda wanna watch the show now out of amazement at that reference.

DO IT. But Dr. Whooves is a fan creation come to life after people saw a background pony with a hourglass cutie mark and David Tennant's hair cut.

If your judging the show by it's other incarnations you will be surprised.
  • #24

It is feminine, it's clearly aimed at little girls. It is a children's show with child-quality plots and characters. Its only redeeming features are good writing and excellent art direction. It is not something you should be watching at age 10+ since there are better things out there more appropriate for your age group that aren't limited to plots 2 year olds can understand.
  • #25

Sweetie Belle and Starsong are my favorites.

Wait they aren't on the show? Then that's why I don't watch it.

Lauren Faust the creator of the show said herself on her DA that she didn't make it just for little girls.

nah, I watched some of it, if it doesn't feel like a girly show, then it feels like a cartoon for 10 year olds... not my cup of tea

It is quite girly. No need to deny that. ^_^

However, it is also fun. In my humble opinion, that is.

no one's saying it's bad, it's just not something some of us would care to watch. If I did, I would call it an innocent guilty pleasure (like Power Puff Girls!)

Man, she is fighting a losing battle. No-one above 12 would really want to watch this, among the majority. Just 'cause it ain't aimed at little girls, doesn't mean that the subject matter isn't perfect for them. And do I detect a hint of Feminism? Oh I did..."The belief that boys shouldn't like girl things is the main reason there's hardly anything good for girls in animation..." Sorry, but is she high on crack or something?

Boys, they should not like girl things. Hence gender difference, retard. Not to mention that she's a dumbass crackwhore if she's gonna b'aaaaw about typical human behaviour being the cause of no decent girly programs. No, it's because it doesn't sell as much as it used to, fuckhead.

People today are blurring the lines between the genders and I fell no desire to contribute to these arbitrary lines drawn in the sand that say that something is for boys and something else is for girls.

Women doing jobs that were once dominated by men and vice versa and a wider acceptance of transgender people and more people becoming cross-dressers or metrosexuals.

let me rephrase, "like what, in relation to the cartoon in question?". you like the show, whatever, but you're not really going to convince us nay-sayers.

Sigh.

I need to persuade people huh? Too bad this is the forum and I'm too lazy, but just give it a chance is all I'm asking, and you'll find something you like about the show.

How much/ what did you watch?

I will be the first to admit that the show DOES NOT HAVE THE BEST PLOTS, but the animation is beautiful, the characters have interesting personalities, and the humor is generally well done. You may be morally opposed to ponies, but remember, it's a silly show designed to be watched, enjoyed, and not to be over-analyzed. Find something magical about it and just go with it.

(Fluttershy, weeee)
  • #43

SuitCase, is your only grief with the show the simple/predictable plots and flat character personalities? From my perception, those are the only things that make it any different from say, BCB for example.
Granted, BCB has more male characters which is a dynamic that MLP lacks that might make it suffer, but that doesn't mean it can't be worked with.

@peopletryingtojustifyshow Remember things that don't bother you could bother others so don't bother them about it because you won't win. My opinion of the said show is I haven't watched it so I can't say. I never will because outside of the Internet I would be shunned and thus won't even try to watch it.

Ok I did it I watched the entire thing. In short it bored me though I did laugh at how damn simple it was and how pony was almost every other word. I will not continue to watch it. One question though is spike literally the only male character? No the two ponies that flew them there don't count they were more animals then actual characters.

This is theme song for followers of Nightmaremoon

Nah, there's other male ponies however they are all background characters and only like 4 are named.

That would be Big Macintosh, Hoity Toity, and two retards I don't care to remember.

That's a shame Rawr but at least you watched it. I feel I could have played episode 9 or something which everyone likes, but well it's unfortunate is all.
  • #48

One more question why did they decided to make the main villain represent the moon generally the moon is considered very feminine and loving in comparison to the harsh but providing sun.
  • #49

  • Ace
  • BCI Member
Uh, because the moon is darkness as opposed to the brightness of the sun and all that prances in the light.

Wait, seriously? Who the fuck cares? You are analyzing this, perhaps that is the problem here.
Also, the show isn't sequential so you don't see her again past episode 2.
