I didn't come in expecting super excellent writing from a show whose main character's goal is to study the different aspects of friendship. I mostly wanted to enjoy the animation style; there's just something about it...

Now, maybe some people do want some kind of universal plot, which is fine. Perhaps I wasn't looking for that at the time. My expectations for the show are probably different though, since I almost never watch tv these days in comparison to a typical viewer. I doubt the show is working to achieve that, though, if Lauren Faust gave it a theme that mainly appeals to kids and parents. It has the whole lesson-learned-at-the-end-of-an-episode goin' on.

I watched a few episodes to see what all the fuss was about... I guess I wasn't that surprised that it didn't hold my interest. The animation is just amazing, and I really like the art style and voices, but the storylines are a bit simple for my tastes.

It has really, really sweet characters though, I can see why some people enjoy it.

Actually, that was an animation mistake. The episodes between 2-14 have her normal-eyed. It was only since episode 15 wherein the creators decided to have fun with the community and give her the derp face everyone knew her by.

None of these apply to me, with much forcing I was made to watch an episode, but my opinion is still "WTF?! Why are you watching this show for little girls?"

The problem with people who only try out the first 2 episodes is that those episodes are for the most part, nothing like the rest of the series and is just used to set up the story and setting. I'd definitely recommend to people that stopped because of those episodes to continue watching.

first impressions go a long way. I did not watch the first episodes, some that came later on.
