All of a sudden, I'm really wondering something. Basically everybody would enjoy the ability to fly, yes? Same for the ability to do magic, right? And surely there are some people who would like a deep connection to the ground or whatever it is that Earth Ponies have to make them special. Or maybe just want to know what is special about Earth ponies.

So, my question, and it's directed more towards those who come here to troll, is this: you are given the opportunity to visit Equestria for whatever duration of time you choose, anywhere between one zeptosecond (I have no idea why you'd visit for one zeptosecond) and the rest of your life. You will be your choice of type of pony for the duration of your visit, and you will arrive with all necessary muscle memory and knowledge to be fully able to fly/do magic/do Earth pony stuff. How many people can honestly say that their hatred of ponies is more powerful than the coolness of flying/doing magic/something else which may or may not be cool at all?

Oh, and I guess you'd know how to do that thing where they pick things up like their hooves are magnetic, so probably you'd barely even notice you didn't have opposable thumbs? I don't know, I'm no expert on cartoon pony biology. But really it kind of seems like the main downsides are just lesser technology and possible mental anguish if you are insecure in your masculinity. Maybe you'd miss meat, but probably grass and daisies and stuff would taste delicious or something. A bit like visiting some third-world country where there's no meat or anything invented in the last century because those are too expensive, and the local customs are different and awkward for Americans, I suppose. Except it's a third-world country in space so you could fly and beat metaphors to death.
  • #5652

It's more like a steampunk/magic fusion, since they have trains and assembly lines and stuff.

Considering alicorns are out of the question, I'd have to go with...eh...IDK. I'd love to fly, then I'd get to interact with ponies of all races. But magic seems really appealing. For some reason, unicorns are apparently not allowed to cast flight spells?

hahaha, well McCain I personally would choose magic. Sure it'd be cool to fly, but most pegasi are used to it thus sapping away the amount of joy, and surprise you'd have. Whereas magic is an unstable thing, that is only limited by your will-power and knowledge. along with that, magic would be more useful in everyday life. Sure you'd be able to fly around everywhere, but magic would enable you to not only TELEPORT to where you want to be, but also help you in most chores/activities in the day.

Have you guys seen this comic? Did the animators consciously make that a feature of Twilight's cutie mark? If they didn't, that and the air date of the pilot are exactly the sort of thing that makes you want to give in to your inclination towards excessive pattern recognition and conclude Douglas Adams was in fact God.

Surely you must admit it gets boring listening to four minutes of an argument that proceeds: "Axiom 1: I won. Conclusion a: by axiom 1, I won. Conclusion b: by conclusion a, I won. Conclusion c: . . ."? At least I assume that if he had a better-supported argument to make, he would have at least hinted at it before I gave up on anything interesting being said and stopped the video.

Seriously, I doubt there's any fandom that can only be criticized with a single very small set of overextended generalizations, so is it really that hard to come up with some anti-brony argument that hasn't already been used by every single non-brony on the internet? I can't actually condone making up facts out of whole cloth, but that's the only thing stopping me from preferring what Fox News had to say since at least they did something other than parrot the same old arguments.

There. Now I'm happy. Go on with your argument if you like, I'm going to pretend I got what I was asking for.

And today my question is: I know I've heard the term "gluefic" used to describe such stories as Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory. Is that a commonly used term? Is it just something that somebody made up and then I happened to hear it? Am I imagining the whole thing and I coined the term myself?

And for those in later time zones, tomorrow's question: who expects Discord on Saturday? I have to say I'm feeling very conflicted on what to guess.

MLP does really great two-part episodes, don't they? The queen of the changelings got pretty creepy once she stopped hiding her identity from Twi. And isn't "Equestria has the most love of any place ever; we're going to eat it all" a great evil plan? I can't wait to see what they've got in store for season three.

Also, Luna. And since when could Dash do a Sonic Rainboom while flying upwards at a thirty degree or so angle, practically on a dime?

Am I a horrible person because part of me automatically heard that Shining Armor is needed to cast a magic condom over Canterlot?

Morality of using magic love spells to resolve the arguments of random strangers: discuss. Seems kind of fishy to me.

Oh, and that "this day is going to be perfect" song. That was a good song. The Changeling Queen really sells her villainy.

Did you notice? Cadence's wingtips are a different color from the rest of her coat. That's unique, right? There's no other pony (unless you count Zecora) with a coat that isn't a single constant color, right?

honestly that was by far the greatest episode ever! at the end of part 1 i had to do a slow clap, to say "That was a good one, you got me there.", the songs in here were also amazing, (though i still cringe when she says "best brother best friend forever" it's just so corny). I was also picking out the parts of it that i'm sure would be featured on memebase.

also, am I the only one who shouted "NO DR. WHOOVES!!" when it cut to him getting cornered, and chased?

What I'd like to know is whether Cadence's telekinesis is too weak to move some rocks, or she was just rendered stupid by worry. We may have been wrong when we assumed alicorns are inherently very powerful.

Oh, and did it occur to you that the changelings aren't really properly defeated, they're just somebody else's problem now? They've presumably learned not to mess with Equestria, but whatever country Chrysalis landed in is probably not as well-protected, and her subjects aren't any less hungry than they were before. I wouldn't want to live there.

Woah.
