So, I was talking with my friend the other day, who is a fan of MLP:FiM. He however, insists that he is not a brony on the basis that he does not "obsess" over the show; he merely enjoys it. Now, I had been under the impression a brony was simply someone who watched the show and enjoyed it. So guys, what do you think a brony is? A fan? an obsessive fan? A 30 year old who lives in his mom's basement and brushes his Rainbow Dash's doll's hair 3602 times a day?

For starters, if this gets deleted, whoever does it must be eating marijuana, because the other pony thread is a cluster of fuck and should not exists, while this thread actually has a purpose... 
ANYWAY. Brony, obviously, can mean a lot of things. Really depends on the situation and who you're asking. But personally, I don't bother considering fans alone bronies. After all, I don't have anything against "fans." I will joke about it, but there is really nothing wrong with watching it; it isn't any worse than Adventure Time or Regular Show or any of that jazz. Most people who are completely opposed to the watching of the show just because it is bad or immature are usually pretty self-righteous (at least in my experience).
I do consider people who obsess over, jack off too, or frequently discuss ponies to be bronies. I suppose it could be decided on an individual basis, as well. If you obsess over it... well, you're fucked. If you jack off to it, well, you may think the show is gay, the premise is retarded, and most of the fans of homosexuals, so I guess that wouldn't make you a brony -- just a furry. And of course if you discuss it a lot, you may just be like me, where you are contemplating ways to anally fuck the fans with other, faster spinning fans.
But yeah, the general way I come to a serious conclusion as to whether or not someone is a brony is decided by those three things -- with exception.

If I see someone walking down the street sporting a goatee while wearing a shirt with any sort of pony on it, and I go up and ask them what they think of the show, they probably won't respond with an "eh, it's okay." If they do, then I'd label them as just being a metrosexual fan.

i believe the definition of a Brony varies, like that of any other fanbase whether it be Trekkies, Furries...catholics, but the word Brony like that of Trekkies, is wide spread. It is what you make of it, whether you're a man who watches it when they can, to someone who keeps their dolls in a vacuum sealed box to be kept in mint condition.
Honestly, I believe a Brony is a person who enjoys the show and fanbase, and also enjoys the memes, and inside-jokes that come along with it. Now your friend seems pretty cool. It'd be fine if a person were to like the series but not associate themselves with the fanbase. There's different levels of bronies, whether you wish to acknowledge them, or separate them is your own thing.
