I just picked up the first issue of the MLP micro series by IDW. It seems to have a younger target audience then there regular MLP series and less impressive art so not even all Bronies are going to want it but the alt cover of Twilight cosplaying as Sailor Moon with Spike reading from Twilight's secret box of fnfiction is worth the cost of the comic.

I don't rely care what the title is.
  • #6461

i wasn't referring to the title of the thread, you dunderhead. the title of the thread accurately describes about 90% of the people socially inept enough to voice their praise of the show in loud, obnoxious ways.
  • #6462

Well then I'm not sure what your talking about frankly.

Voice actress for Fluttershy in Japan and her other voice rolls.

So, I haven't been on this thread in ages, let alone this forum, and I probably won't be on again after this post, but I wanted to make a thank you post to all of you. A lot of you don't know me, and there's probably only a handful that do, so my name's Draixen and I use to read the comic a long time ago and was pretty much addicted to the BCB Forum. So, if I left, don't read the comic, and don't associate with anyone here, then why am I making this post?

I wanted to say thank you, because this forum, and the pony thread in particular has made me successful. I now run my own business and my own miniature convention for bronies. None of that would be possible if I hadn't stumbled in here wondering what the hell was the huge obsession taking over the forum's avatars. In particular, I'd like to thank Susan and Kaxbe, who were the two main people I remember that made me want to check out the show.

You guys are all awesome and I wouldn't be doing what I love if it wasn't for this forum.

okay, so this senior dude at my school made this episode-long fan-film for MLP:FiM and he got the rights and everything so he could use the characters from the show and now my school is making a pretty big deal about it because he's the first animation student to attempt something this long for a senior project and he's the first animation student to actually get the a-ok from the creators to go ahead and make something like this... it's actually pretty well-made animation-wise, but it's definitely........ a thing....

Do they still not have accreditation? My friend went to the Atlanta campus and got fucked out of a lot of money when he found out he hated the people there and left.
  • #6472

uh, they're accredited, dude. just not with NASAD, but rather SACSCOC, which covers the southern half of the US. accreditation for art schools varies from school to school, and SCAD doesn't fall under NASAD because of how important collaboration is on campus and because the programs are more career-oriented than several other art schools in my region. compare CalArts, which doesn't stress collaboration at all. besides, accreditation is more important if the school is incredibly small time.

regarding the MLP thing, though, the dude is already getting offers even though he still has about two more quarters left... he needs to finish another film before he can graduate... and his next one is Star Wars... I'd like this MLP shit if it was less meme-y and they edited it down more... a lot of the animation could've been sped up or outright deleted.
  • #6473

Yeah, he needs to work on pacing.
  • #6474

I guess the bar isn't very high at all at SCAD if they're commotion and supporting something the guy has three seasons worth of animation reference for. Compare that if someone was to make something completely original. I suppose SCAD cares more about promotion of itself through social buzz rather than showcasing actual artistic integrity and creativity.

What a shame.
  • #6475

the thing is, the only reason SCAD made a bigger deal about it and have it it's own on-campus screening is only because t
1)the dude who made it was technically a junior (other students refer to him as Really Creepy Okder Student for a reason) who pursued a project like this on top of other coursework
2) this is the first time any student at SCAD presented something as long as this in the animation department. previous student work would be between 3-15 minutes. in fact, the only reason he was able to pull this off is because practically every terrible brony on campus was signed on to help on this project
3) he's the first student to do a "fan work" as part of an independent study who actually got permission from all companies involved in the creation of the source material.

otherwise, they wouldn't give a shit and it would've been put in a pile with all the other "senior work" for the animation staff to vote on for when it came around for SCAD's annual student animation show. the work that is shown there is usually shorter and a much longer time is poured into concepts before being taken into production as opposed to this dude's whim (he literally thought one day "I'LL DO PONIES" and then spent the next year making... this). other student work that i've seen is much more ambitious and well-made. even the short that won last year's showcase, East and West, (which I personally hated the concept) was much smoother and well-edited.
the most publicity SCAD gave Double Rainboom was nothing more than a single tweet and then a last-minute change to their "events" calendar.

I wound have assumed the Michael bay Transformers movies were the definition of exploiting.

Also, how's that apple stock working out?

Equestria Girls is horrid and I'm doing my best to block it from my reality bubble.
