No age requirements, but we'll be annoyed at people that have to have their parents with them.
Kou, do you also have the thousands of dollars?
Also, I looked up specific prices using some of the discount offers we can get with various chains. Assuming 5 per room (one person on the floor) I can find a Holiday Inn in the heart of the city for $130 pp for the whole three days. This would become $105 in a room where two sleep on the floor.
I also found a Holiday Inn express that would be $90, though it is a moderate subway ride out of town, and Spacemouse said it'd be $2 there and back, which we'd do multiple times. So basically 100 vs 130 including transport costs, and the more expensive one would save us time and be a fair bit nicer (Proper Holiday Inn instead of crappier Holiday Inn Express)
Of course, going further downmarket, $90 and lower might be possible. What do people think of these prices? I'd prefer the better place, personally

If we are going to have people not sleeping directly on a bed, go for the better place. Better standards of cleaning, and better chance the last person before you had some sort of decent standard of hygiene

While I'm on that particular subject, I WOULD rather a bed if at all possible. But I don't care if I've gotta share a twin or something. It's all good.
Incidentally, if anybody is planning to stay longer than the intended "con", I'll be around for a 2 week period somewhere interlacing with the con dates, so you're unlikely to be alone!

tripadvisor actually is in the middle of a lawsuit right now, involving hotels artifically inflating their own rankings and deflating competitors. make sure to actually look at some of the reviews. if they seem suspicious, they probably are.

For the more downtrodden places, the reviews make for some horrific yet strangely enthralling reading. "Stay here if you love blood on your comforter and want to be close to strip clubs!"

Also, what are you guys doing about the legal issues surrounding minors staying in a hotel room that you or someone else above 18 got without parental supervision? I mean, it could be as simple as a paper the parents could sign and fax you excusing you of all responsibility if their child got hurt or broke something, but I ask because I hadn't noticed anything before about it.

Giving any paper notice means that they should have some legal responsibility to begin with. It's not a baby sit sort of event
If you come, you take the responsibility of taking care of yourself and so forth. Nothing with this con is formal or otherwise, it's just a pile of random people who are walking around boston together and sharing hotel rooms.

On the topic of hotels, I don't really have a true preference but if I had to pick one I would personally go with the cheaper.

I am right now thinking it should be around $80, Carmen. As I don't think we'll find anything cheaper than that, and it's a large enough sum that people will be upset to forfeit.
I think I'll PM-spam everyone on the list first, though, and make them decide whether they can come or not.

But really, I would not be able to come. I have exams in that period of time, so it would be a remarkably bad time for me to go out of the country.
I applaud the idea and the effort, though, if said things come to fruition.

@ Suit: Out of curiosity, which part of that was gay? Was it the webcam thing? Because I kind of think the same thing about that too. Still, there's a lot of European fans so it'd make sense to give them the opportunity to meet up.
Oh well. I'll play this by ear and see what kind of momentum this gets.

Something as simple as "I let my snot nosed brat stay with all of these people in Boston and in this hotel. I also promise not to be a burden on all things good and sue if they act like an idiot or get themselves hurt" and you'd be good. Hell, ask wacko for one of those slips he was talking about, and change a few words here and there. Worst case scenario you have anyone under 18 bring it to the hotel and give it to you, and if they don't, so? Then, if they don't, nothing bad has happened, and if they do, then you have a legal out just in case.

Also, I think even if you don't think permission slips are necessary it'd be a good idea to have your ass covered just in case. Just my two cents.

Also LemoCon had 15-16 year olds and we survived just fine without paranoid parents having tantrums. It's just a meetup, it's not a real con.
