Amaris, you look like two completely different people in your photos! Just how long was the time between each one? Also don't go shooting yourself down like that, you have more going for you than you give yourself credit for. :)

Migrant, that whole experiment I was just sitting there thinking to myself "They are testing to see if a rock...will float...", thought it was just an absolute joke until you explained it at the end. Either way, it was a laugh.

Alright, I'll ask, what is Girl Post? I assume Space, Credence and ILB played a part in it?

Actually I'm not sure if even Spacey or Cred was around yet for Girl Post, but basically it was this joke were people paid more attention if they were a girl, so Suitcase made a special format for all the known girls on the old forum which was pink and had hearts and shit and said "Girl Post" all around the edges.
  • #1271

That sounds pretty cool actually
  • #1272

Thats because your a girl Esa

Both. I came to BCB and met her, then christmas last year we started gaming together. Stuff evolved from there.

In relevancy to this, a lot of forums seem to spawn relationships. Well, this one and my home forum sure did. I can testify to this, as can you, as can Casey. It's... I don't know the word for it. I just used to think relationships couldn't exist on the internet so it's funny to see how often it happens these days. xD

Relationships have always been happening on the internet! Been seeing it since my early IRC days. They do take work and communication to keep going, though. It's especially difficult when you haven't met the other person, and don't know what they're truly like in real life. People often adopt a different persona online than in real life, whether consciously or not.

Totally worth it in my opinion! But that's me being a biased party. xD;;

Well, here's the thing. I think that if someone doesn't actively try to hide who they are, their online persona is closer to who they are. Because they have time to think about how they respond (I don't personally believe a person's snap response to something is how they really are, only when they're given time to think about it and fully express themselves). So it's a weird-ish thing that makes it better--you know the real them first and foremost, so when you meet the in real life, you'll know what's about how they act there and what isn't.

And I, personally, love all aspects that make her who she is. Even if it was something of a persona, that persona would still be a part of her. Gotta accept and appreciate all parts of the one you love, I think~

So yeah, all opinion, not fact, but... Eh, just thought I'd toss my beliefs out there. :x

The one internet relationship I decided to pursue, I had no regrets with. Even though it didn't work out, I'm not sorry I made the effort. ^_^

(And yes, I did meet her in real life. Flew out to see her.)

Is that so? How different was she in real life?

Also you lucky bastard! ;a; I guess you're above 18, then... I won't get to see my girlfriend for roughly 1 1/2 years (at best). Which isn't really an immediately needed thing anyway, I suppose. I'm just happy to spend time with her.

Let's see... The first one was taken in I think March of this year? Before I dyed and cut my hair. The second one I took like 3 minutes before i posted it :P In the first one, my cousin had tried to make me look pretty for my then boyfriend. Not my particular style... Like right now I'm wearing a tanktop, jeans, and a beanie =P I'm a pretty big tomboy.

And awww, thanks ^_^

More different than I'd expected! Still, it was cool to meet her and I had fun, even if we ultimately decided it wouldn't work.

There was also the fact I had no clue how to be a boyfriend, and was still suffering from undiagnosed chronic dehydration at that time, but oh well. I learned a lot from that experience, and I've definitely grown from it.
  • #1291

It's okay Fighter, if you stick around long enough you'll find yourself a nice girl. :-*

But seriously, I know at least 5 other people who have a relationship cause of BCB.

Wait, did you decide it wouldn't work once you met her..?

And what do ya mean "no clue how to be a boyfriend"?

Man I feel as though I'm probing like mad but stories like these make me curious, sorry. ;__; You don't have to answer though! D:

Well actually I didn't meet her through BCB, but my home forum, and she convinced me to come to BCB.

I know neither you nor anyone else cares but I just felt like sharing.

Lux Aeterna said:

The actual story is a bit more complicated than that. I had an online crush on her for several years, which I never revealed. It was her intelligence that attracted me to her (I'm a sucker for intelligence). There was also the fact that she liked some of the same things as I did (comics and Lord of the Rings especially). One thing I never gave much thought to, though, was physical attraction, especially since neither of us was inclined to share pictures of ourselves on the internet.

Anyway, one day I finally nutted up and admitted my crush on her. It turned out she was also interested in me! So we decided that I should fly out and meet up with her. At that point I'd only seen a few pictures of her, and I was somewhat unsure if I found her attractive, but I put those thoughts aside because I didn't want to be prejudiced.

So yeah, I finally got to meet her. First time I'd actually met someone from the internet. It was a bit awkward at first, especially since I'm a reticent person by nature. She turned out to be a larger person than I'd thought, bigger than me, so not that physically appealing to me. Also we didn't seem to click together as well in real life as we did online. Part of that was because I simply didn't know her that well, because she was a rather secretive person online (as was I).

Even then, I still wanted to take the chance and get into a relationship with her, but I think she saw that it wouldn't work out, simply because we weren't clicking as well as we'd hoped. She made the excuse of distance being a factor, but I knew that wasn't the real reason. I soon realized, though, that she was probably right, that it was better to break it off right away if it wasn't going to work.

And I got over it soon enough. At least I could leave with no regrets. I'd admitted the crush, I'd met the girl, and if the relationship didn't work out, well, that's just part of dating. You don't always meet the right person the first time around. And it was definitely an experience that helped me to grow. It was something I needed to do, to learn from.

So yeah, there it is. If I don't have that physical attraction to the person as well as the mental attraction, it probably won't work. It really does have to be the right person for me. I'm kind of picky that way. Judge me as you will, I suppose.

The happy ending (for my crush) is that she did eventually meet someone much more suited to her. She's engaged to him now, and I'm glad it worked out for her. :)

Lux Aeterna said:

Well, I'm not really a people person. Social interaction has never been my strong suit. I'm always uber-quiet and cautious around people until I get to know them a lot better. I never have any clue what to say to people. Carrying on a conversation with someone always seems awkward and forced to me. It was my crush who had to initiate things with me, because I was so shy and reserved in person. For example, I never would've thought of holding hands with her, since I'm usually one to respect people's personal space. Making out with her was nice though. #^_^#

So yeah, I had lots to learn, but I can carry that experience into next time. And meanwhile, I can try to improve myself. I've already joined a co-ed soccer team, and met another (platonic) friend from the internet.
