KAS Bat's Art & Sketches

So here's a whole bunch of different drawings, quick sketches and requested sketches from yours truly. Depending on how often I have a chance to draw, I should be adding to this every now and again.

But to start off with, some old stuff and somethings I did earlier.

Was watching John Carpenter's "The Thing" and playing Dead Space earlier and I thought it would be amusing to try and make a Thing/Necromorph version of the middle panel of this

It's nice to see someone drawing various objects and peoples as opposed to sticking to one primary source of inspiration. Honestly, I think they were done fantastically.

Fucking Death loves his cupcakes.

"Kasbat"

"Dead Space 2"

"BCB"

"The Cake Is A Lie"

"Random chat"

"Kasbat" again.

There I read them all, but I honly had to read like the first words/letter to know what the whole thing is. So I did it faster than others probally.

Thanks for the comments guys :D

I managed to do some more drawing today so I thought I might add two of the better things I did to day.

Dead Space inspired. Just an average engineer doing his job.

Well, despite having a pretty hectic week, I managed to get some drawing done and finally had some time to upload some of the better stuff managed to do this week. Also I put all the stuff in my first post in spoilers as it was taking up to much page space.

A quick sketch I drew at the beginning of the week as the last days of Summer here were nice, warm, sunny days and then the first few days of Autumn were cold, wet, windy and miserable.

Inspired by the Dead Space tripods. I never actually realized you could see the people joined together to make its body until I was curb stomping one trying to find a drop.
Posted Image

Started out as a drawing of the sword. Then I added the arm. Then a body. And then just for the sake of it I decided to turn him into some sort of inquisition knight/crusader type character.

You like dead space, don't you?

It's an awesome game but it's more to do with the fact that my muse is fickle and I tend to draw whatever interests me for the moment. I generally rotate in-between Scifi, medieval/fantasy, War and Horror type things.

I draw a lot of my inspiration from video games, movies, books and various mythologies.

Wow. This stuff is really good. While the bodies themselves are a touch disproportional, and the joints are a touch fluid, the attention to detail is quite impressive, and you're objects are being drawn very well.
  • #13

Thanks :D

Proportion and shading have never been my strong points but I've been slowly trying to incorporate shading in more of my drawings and sketches in an effort to get better at it. My bin is just filled with dozens of quick sketches of body types and parts where I've been experimenting with shading and different veiw points.

I've been sick for the past couple of days and haven't had as much time to draw as I usually do so I thought I might post some of the stuff I've been drawing in order to compare the stuff I spend a lot of time on (usually about an hour) against the stuff I do quickly without as much detail.

A bunch of different weapons, a couple of which actually are based on real weapons. I wonder if anybody can name the weapons some of these are based on. :smirk:
Time spent on this: Around 15 minutes

I hadn't inked anything of mine in a while and I decided to add in the red instead of shading the blood to leave the drawing more contrasting and clean looking
Time spent on this: Around 20-25 minutes
Posted Image

Same idea as the last one except I went all out with the red.
Time spent on this: Around 35 minutes

Edit:Hahaha whoops, just noticed I forgot to erase my pencil lines after inking the last one. oh well :smirk:

I must bow down to your armor and sword drawing which is truly good, I also point you that in some of your sketches & drawings the body proportions are just bad. And what I also noticed that you cannot draw a "movement" very good. A good body movement can be seen in 3 of the pictures that you posted, but on all others it seems like characters are stiff like statues.

Personally, sword on the Inquisitor / Knight was just badass

@Blazer Yeah, I tend to suck at proportions and I'm not that good at capturing movement that well in my more detailed drawings.
It doesn't help that for my more detailed drawings I have a bad habit of instead of creating a basic body structure first in order to get a basic outline for proportions and movement first, I'll draw a smaller part of something first and if I like it I then build on top of/out from it. The Dead Space engineer was originally just the helmet and the left gauntlet which I drew separately and then connected to create a larger drawing and the Inquisitor/Knight was originally just the sword, on to which I slowly added the rest of his arm and then body.

Some stuff I did yesterday.

Random sketches

And I copied the outline of the scythe wielder onto a different sheet of paper and finished the drawing.
Posted Image

I made a sort of time-lapse of the scythe wielder drawing as I went along.

For those of you who are sharp enough to notice, yeah the first panel is on a separate page.
I just redrew it to show how the first stage would have looked.

Work on making the limbs less stiff. Everything else is a-okay.
  • #18

Well it doesn't matter really much, I'm sure it will get better by itself over time by drawing, worked for me

Keep up the good work !

Yeah I've found that really the only way to get better at drawing to to keep drawing and try to get a little better at it with each drawing.

Was struck down with another horrible cold this week and haven't really done a lot of drawing so I thought I'd just post some pages of my sketch book I drew in this week which have the kinds of random miscellaneous doodles I do when I can't think of or be bothered drawings something larger or detailed.
