So much improvement 8-D

Seconded. Shading, a bit more detail in the eyes (Or alternatively smaller irises) and this'd be awesome

Thanks Splee and Raxki! #^_^#

Thank you for the advice esalaka! I need to practice shading more :x
  • #52

No matter how I can't see Sandy and Mike to happen, its a very good drawing !

And, like esalaka mentioned, the shades...Its always good to use them, even if they are just minor to add the more 3D effect to the drawing. For depth of drawing itself and to create atmosphere with toying around with shadings.
  • #53

Something like only a few different shades; maybe one bright, one middle shade (for most parts) and one darker shade, think cel-shading, could work with this style. I don't think smooth shading would.
  • #54

I took my time drawing the picture below. I tried shading it like esalaka said, but I didn't do too much D:. I wasn't sure where to put the bright shades. Guess which BCB character she is! Her left arm looks a bit funny though...

That's very obvious to be honest but either way I'm not gonna spread the answer yet *snigger*
She looks really cute though!! :D
Great job on this!!

The shading is looking good too! :)

The first thing to consider when shading is the light source. Here it's quite obviously top left, so shadows should generally be on the lower right side of objects and will always be projected in that direction.

If it helps, you can think of shadows as volumes. Wobbliness courtesy of directly drawing w/ tablet, freehand.
Posted Image
(Actually, now that I look at it, the part projected by the right face is too wide. Daamn.)

Kinda hard to understand, but the point is that you draw a line between the light source and a corner, then continue it until it hits something. That's the furthest the shadow from that point extends.

Of course, you'd have to measure the distance and angle of objects in your drawing somehow, and most likely you'll have to use points on lines to replace corners because of all the smooth shapes.

For example, most of the right hand's visible parts would be in the shadow, which would extend over the whole of the character. (I don't think the phone's shadow would even be visible because of how the hand is positioned)

---

That was a confusing explanation, wasn't it?
Sorry, I can't really think of another explanation. I like using math to get things look proper, actually, but that might be overdoing it already :D

Thanks BonBonToro!! #^_^#

And Esalaka, I'll try to practice some shading like you said, and try it in any future drawings. Thank you for explaining it for me!

More practice on shading here! :D Sandy is fun to draw because she has hair

just had to dig through 4 pages of Creative Arts to get here :x I've neglected this for more than two months...

I guess it's Bitterstuck, or something along the lines of that...?

I was told to upload my lastest contribution to Candybooru to here. I used gimp, and I tried drawing in a new method to my past drawings :O I don't like it how it looks like it's been coloured using crayola markers that are drying out, especially on Mike's head. Allthough this did take far less time than what it usually takes me to draw a picture digitally. :)

I might draw Lucy too. I'm not sure yet.

That's a pretty drawing
  • #62

Your art is simple, but not underdone. The drawings look complete, but not lavish. I really don't think I'm saying this right though. Whatever, consider me a fan.
  • #63

I think that works Esalaka :) , maybe Daisy as Jade, and maybe Paulo as Dave? If I ever get round to doing that many.

Thank you Carcharocles and jackkuro!

Lucy Lalonde this time. I decided not to do black lipstick, it looked really funny on her.

Fun fact: I had to draw this twice, my computer died on me after I drew it the first time and I hadn't saved it :O

Daisy as Jade?

But... Jade is a dog

But Paulo totally is Dave
  • #66

Okay, maybe Rachel as Jade?
  • #67

I don't think anyone has suitable ears
Lemme see

Indeed, nobody does.
Also, I just realized everyone in Homestuck is younger than the main characters of BCB
  • #68

Am I allowed to post non-BCB fanart here?

(basically within these spoilers are characters from My Little Pony as Homestuck Trolls. Don't look if you're not interested.)

Pretty good :D
  • #70

Those eyes are rather large. And the chin is maybe somewhat too sharp on both. Could you round it a bit?
  • #71

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I drew this for BasketCase for BCB's Secret Santa. To be really honest, I wish I could have drawn something brilliant. :nope:

  • #74

If you don't mind, I guess I'll post a drawing here? This is one of too many super messy drawings that I dump onto my tumblr account.

you realize you must remove the
?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJ6IHWSU3BX3X7X3Q&Expires=1326665891&Signature=0U2tjxpaX4IUasRzSW7D1zjvyHs%3D

otherwise, the image is time sensitive and expires. Which is a reason why I cannot view that as it is
