Calming down

When I get REALLY ANGRY, like this ----> >:O
to calm myself down I usually listen to VERY LOUD MUSIC AND DRAW THINGS, (or depending on the situation, punch something)
And then I become calm, like this ----> :)

So, what do you forum people do to calm yourself down?

I don't. I just don't usually get that angry at all. If I get passionate or excited about something, I just keep building up and up until I'm either finished, or I continue to spiral out of sanity until everyone around me who is surely confused gives up and walks away. Then I stay somewhat riled up for a while, slowly cooling down. Sorta like Tigger on Acid, except I maintain a level of randomness without the corrupted aid of drugs.

DON'T DO DRUGS, KIDS!

Depends how I feel about it. Usually when I get really angry about something, it's because I care about what it is, so I'll usually write a big paper or something. Or ride my bike until I'm too tired to think about it anymore.

I do not tend to need to calm down. ^_^

Smile and be happy, and take things as they come, and you have the bare necessities, yes, all the bare necessities, forget about your worries and your strifes~
  • #4

Hmm... when I'm worked up about something I like to clean everything, get things on my desk organized, and take a shower. If it's really bad, sometimes I will also take a nap!

When everything is clean and organized I tend to feel happier! :D

Going to sleep and waking up usually gets me out of any mood.

Unless I have to wake up early, in which case I unsurprisingly get put into a fouler mood.

Careful about taking naps in the middle of the day though -- waking up dazed and confused about the time/day doesn't get less distressing.
  • #6

Normally I never get angry.
If a little angry, I go out with friends and I have fun.

If I am angry, I call a friend and I go to have a beer with him.

If I am really angry, I write something down, or I simply play something.

If I am angry as hell, I put rammstein really loud and play some relaxing videogames, such as Karmaggedon, Mortal kombat, Doom, etc.

i post really stupid shit and blame it on boredom here on these fourms.

I don't get angry, but I do sometimes get a bit freaked by small things. I find Sandy Toksvig to be a wondeful cure.

Light to moderate-level anger: Draw and listen to music, or read a thick-ass fantasy novel while listening to music, or play some music.

I like music <.<

When I'm seriously angry, I kill people.

In games, that is. <.<

one of the following:
1. Play video games.
2. Watch a movie.
3. Masturbate.
4. Get laid.
5. Read.
6. Screw around on a forum.
7. Screw around on internet.

I could go on, but I won't.

Ah yes, furious and angry masturbation, that sounds like a great way to calm down, you are a fountain of wisdom :P

Myself, it is normally a case of "don't get mad, get even", if I am mad about something which I can't insult back or fix then I will normally just sit down and quitely rage for a while (unless I am alone then it really isn't so quiet). Video games really help though, after a few minutes you forget that you were mad and all the anger has turned into a neatly packed grudge for you to carry around.

I either Nap, take a shower, play video games, or when i'm REALLY pissed off i punch a hole in the wall... sometimes 2!

Calm down ritual for me:

Hot bath.
If still angry, get on the PC and kill dead things.
If still angry, try and amuse myself with a joke.
If still angry but lucky, person I'm pissed at makes a really good joke that makes the situation, no matter what it is, seem trivial and pointless. Actually a common solution in my household.

I would think tripping on small objects would make anger more likely. :x

Also, so far Sandy Toksvig is my favourite suggestion. ^_^

I usually just head into the IRC and rage for a bit. Failing that, video games and programming tend to calm me down quite a bit. Though most of the time I store it up. It's especially fun when I get into an arguing match i the Vent.

When I'm upset I just ignore it and continue with my life.

When I'm annoyed I just ignore it and continue with my life.

When I'm angry I acknowledge it and continue with my life.

When I'm furious I sit on my bed and sulk.

When I'm hotheaded I just ignore it and continue with my life.

I'm pretty much a large container of rage. Might be the reason why I've been a bit depressed these last couple of weeks.

Bite the thing which has incurred my wrath. The things that usually anger me are technologies and I do have a very powerful jaw, so this is sometimes a problem, but it's rarely bad enough that I break something for good. Except for my laptop and my TV and very nearly my PSP. But I'm rarely angry at people so it's okay.

That is the most hardcore thing I've read in a long time.

God forbid you become a carpenter or a mechanical engineer.

I must agree with Uber, I rant to the IRC a bit, get Chocolate or milk and honey, and then maybe punch a small child or animal. That always unwinds me.

hm, its been a while since I got raged, so I cant remember what I do, guess just do anything that distracts you like sports or something.
  • #32

Last Friday I was super pissed, had to unload more trucks than usual because the company decided to send us 3 times as much Royale toilet paper (approx 1700 48 packs of 2-ply) than we ordered for a sale. I was working past the end of my shift and I still had other shit to do, and then it hit me; "Royale with cheese". My mood immediately went from >:( to :D
So, thinking of quotes from movies and other things I like seem to help me relax.

Apparently eating skittes calms me down too! And unfortunately, shopping trips for underwear. #^_^#

lol I'm the kind of guy who finds that attractive in women. Hell, my GF hates it when I take her to Le Senza for bras and panties because she's so damn shy!

Working on my Warhammer 40k miniatures is very very soothing for me, even exciting (especially after I picked up a Baneblade yesterday!)

Putting a shit ton of sugar in your mouth stimulates the pleasure center in your brain, thus calming you down. It's why sports drinks work, not all them fancy shmancy electrolytes.

Sports drinks calm people down?

Meh, lying down for a bit helps calm my nerves.. I find it to be a great time to put everything together.
  • #41

I listen to relaxing music, drink a hot cup of chamomile tea and completely space out.
  • #42

More and more often, I tell myself "zero-to-sixty, zero-to-sixty." It's something my shrink told me about how when I get angry, I usually go from not angry at all to super-angry, like I'm going from zero-to-sixty miles an hour in a car. I picked that up from my mom, so telling myself that helps.
