No one here really gets how being suicidal feels. If they did, they wouldn't say such things as "she's smiling, that means she's not suicidal!"

To give a parallel from another story, another webcomic I read had a character Kazuo go through feeling belittled and worthless because of his father (two examples of his conflict: http://www.redstring...ndex.php?id=382
    http://www.redstring...ndex.php?id=581 )

At one point in the story he came home, all smiles, giving his sisters gifts: http://www.redstring...ndex.php?id=194

By the end of that chapter, this happened: http://www.redstring...dex.php?id=1414

So no, having a smile on their face doesn't mean that someone won't commit suicide. In fact, a sudden shift in attitude after being stuck in a mental swamp of moroseness is a huge warning sign.

Yes, there's a lot of regret, both for what I did and what he did. All I can say is that it was a learning experience for me and it helped inspire certain stories to write. But the experience is still so fresh and makes me feel so much bitterness, I still would do it differently if I had the chance.

Well there's the fact that Abbey puts Daisy on a pedestal (and to an extent other women since he rarely if ever calls out women the way he does men, which could be another thing for Abbey to overcome), and for a relationship to work you need to treat your partner like an equal. I know Daisy has been shown to like attention, but if she were to gain more confidence in herself and eventually see that Abbey sees her more as a princess than a partner, then that could cause conflict in the relationship. I dunno, just a thought.
