This is more of a childhood favorite but... Sound of Music. It has it's flaws but I used to have so much fun singing to the soundtrack with my dad back in the day. -

The forum is just a little slow. There's not much to talk about all the time, minus random chatter! Shutting it down would be far worse then having it move a bit slow... I imagine it'd be very difficult to have a long spanning conversation about the updates on IRC. People just aren't all on there at once, and it isn't archived like the forum is.
I'd say things are still running smoothly here, slowly and a bit quiet, but nice and smooth. Not at all a failure.

I agree with the others, that the IRC is kind of intimidating, and in general new readers to the comic may not like the concept or the layout of it. I feel like a solid forum with organized discussions is good, even in this one moves slowly.
