Slowly inching closer to the truth he keeps denying..!

This is a really weird page, if only because of Mike's feelings. It is CLEAR he realizes what he did, and worse, he expected Lucy to still be fawning over him and worrying about him... Ever after the things he did to her. That's kinda straight up emotionally abusive behavior. :/ Lucy is be no means an angel, but she's making strides to be better and live healthy, and most importantly, treat the people around her with more respect. The rest of the cast also seems to be growing emotionally. Mike, however, is being left behind.

I think he didn't want her to be fawning and worrying about him, but moreso I think he just hoped to still be able to make amends with her. It's clear to himself that he screwed up, and he'd been reflecting on that screw-up ever since she left. Hell, the last conversation they had was him apologizing and wanting to start over. Though it's very naive to think that there'd be no repercussions for his actions, I think it can be a bit understandable in this case.

And Lucy's remarks do make Mike realize how wrong what he said and did was

no one makes it through life loving a single person forever, it's what they do with those feelings that determine their moral character, and part of why mike is in pain is because he can't admit that he loves Lucy or what those feelings mean.

And frankly, nothing does have to come of those feelings even acknowledging them, and honestly embracing them may strengthen their platonic friendship without jeopardizing his relationship. But what has undeniably been the most harmful for Mike is this treating the feelings he has for Lucy and that she has for him as a threat, probably because he thinks similarly, that to even care about Lucy deeply constitutes cheating.

It's so interesting to see how Lucy 'fighting for' people is such a strong running theme toward the people she cares for.

I really hope this chapter doesn't end in Lucy and Mike making amends. Lucy has been doing so much better without him and I hope they still spend some time apart after this chapter ends

Well Mike, you screwed up bad with Lucy so bad she legitimately believed every awful thing you said to her, did you expect her to think you care? All you've done is yell at her or stalk her since she got back, so you're an asshole live with the consequences of your actions and grow up.

I hope this chapter ends with Sandy telling Mike its over. I want mike to end up alone. It may sound mean but he deserves it.
