Transcript

*Mike, having heard something, glances back over his shoulder.*
Mike: Eh?

*Mike shouts as he sees Daisy slip under the surface of the water.*
Mike: DAISY!!

*Stunned, Daisy slowly sinks towards the bottom of the pool, her nose bleeding heavily.*

*Mike dives and catches her around the waist.*

*Mike swims for the surface, carrying her up.*

*They break the surface, gasping for air.*

*Daisy holds her nose, wincing.*
Daisy: (cough) (cough)
*Mike looks worried.*
Mike: Daisy!! Are you okay?!

*Mike tenderly touches her bleeding nose while Daisy looks at him with wide, bright eyes.*
Mike: Oh no.. Your nose. We have to get the nurse..

*Daisy blushes and takes his hand, staring at him lovingly.*
Daisy: Thank you, Mikie..
Mike: ..?

Daisy: You’re my hero..
*Daisy snuggles close to the astonished-looking Mike and nuzzles his hand, hearts hovering around her head.*
Mike: Guh!! Daisy?!

Daisy: What’s wrong, Mikie? I just wanna thank you..
*Daisy hugs Mike closely while looking worriedly up at him. Mike blushes and looks away.*
Mike: That’s all..?
Daisy: Of course..

*Mike, still blushing and looking away, stands awkwardly, not reciprocating the hug. Daisy lays her head on his chest, looking content.*
Mike: Okay..

*Daisy glances up at him, a sultry look in her eyes.*
Daisy: Unless, of course, you’re looking for more..
*Mike, trembling, breaks out in a very awkward grin.*
Mike: I.. err.. hate to break it to you.. but.. uhh..

*Paulo looks angry as he appears behind the two.*
Paulo: MIKE!!
*Mike quickly pushes away from Daisy.*
Mike: Eep!!

*Paulo glares at him.*
Paulo: What the hell do you THINK YOU’RE DOING?! GET AWAY FROM HER!!

*Paulo and Mike squabble, leaving Daisy to float alone in the pool looking slightly surprised.*
Mike: WHAT?! I wasn’t doing anything!!
Paulo: SHE’S NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL!

*Daisy listens to the argument, wide-eyed and blushing, with a small smile.*
Mike: I told you, I didn’t do anything!!
Paulo: You were messing with her like the goddamn cheater you are!!

Mike: What?! You’re jumping to conclusions! I would never even..
*Daisy grins.*

Author commentary

Veronica: OH GEEZ IT LOOKS LIKE MIKE IS MISSING HIS TRUNKS IN PANEL FOUR HAHAHAHA, HE’S WEARING THEM I SWEAR!!!! They must, uhh, be hanging a bit too low, LOOK HE’S SAVING A LIFE RIGHT NOW OKAY????? He just needs to readjust himself afterwards!

Goodness, even in the redraw I completely overlooked that.. was I drawing too loyally to the original..

Oliver: It’s the sort of error that comes up when there’s tens of thousands of character drawings across many tens of hundreds of panels. We spent SO MUCH TIME rereading and fixing things like that, but eventually you gotta draw a line!

And that line is drawn at… not drawing a line on Mike’s waist here.

The beginning of Daisy the yandere… with already Lucy the tsundere along with Paulo the jerk and Mike the unbelievably happy yet oblivious guy! Wonder how it’ll turn out !
