Author commentary

Veronica: This chapter is admittedly very personal to me because similar to Abbey, I often get hit with flashbacks and past memories. My brain is always screaming, and sometimes one little thing I see, feel or hear will send me off to recall a much more unpleasant memory.

So Abbey having Janet brushing the back of his head lead him to think back to his mother brushing the back of his head during a very unfortunate conversation, is just a MOOD, you know? A lot of these sequences where he’s flashing back are, for me. This is what Abbey’s head is like a lot of the time!

.. Fortunately unlike Abbey, I haven’t had what happened to him happen to me!! So, uhh!! Well!!! But the brain processes I totally relate to, and used that to write these scenes.

As an optimist, I say that she is alive, not only that but also that she has found someone that cares for her and as she knows that abbey and molly have a great life with their step-dads she left them to enjoy.
