Finally, a page where both Sue and Paulo are blushing. Let the shippers rejoice.
Also, Sue you can’t really judge him for not liking the art. It is his opinion after all.
I wonder how long before Paulo gets caught… he was obviously nervous about something in the first few panels… might have been bumping into Sue, but I have a feeling it has something to do with him being up here at all.

Heh I gotta admit that like Paulo, iam not fascinated with such art. If anything, school usualy wants you to know things like, the name of the painting and its artist, what it was made in and in what era was it made. In fact that he did bother to get up there after being mocked that he migh cause David get lower grade with him, I say he does try. You go Paulo

Now, what needs to be done is for someone to take the candybooru of sue and abby and put paulo in there

Doesn’t even try? He just decided to go against his own thoughts on the matter, even after you all ridiculed him behind his back, simply to go up and be there with his friends. It certainly seems to me that he’s “trying”, if only to assure he’s not excluded from the group. Besides, Sue doesn’t seem to think much of the art anyway, she simply believes that she should be able to criticize the art work in the museum because of how smart she is; but theres a difference between being naturally intelligent and being able to perceive what a piece of art means to you, mainly because of disinterest in art whatsoever. I think Sue really doesn’t care much for art but wants to be one of the more intellectual persons in the group, so as to avoid seeming like Paulo. But hey, ‘least she’s “trying”.

Aaaand… That’s why I love this comic so much!
As I said before, its pretty enjoyable to see the weakness and strength of each character. My respect for Paulo fell already, because I won’t forget what he did on the other pages of this chapter, yet… If he bought the ticket for trying to be a better person, it will show us that he is a character that wants to be a better person. I really got this feeling that Paulo was going to buy a ticket, and hope that he did it for his own personal growth than just “answering an indirect defy”.
I find it interesting that Paulo made the same critic that Sue did on last page, its also a signal for Sue to remember her that she still is a young girl and not an “I know everything about my friends and the world!”.
… Really, I love so much this comic! <3

Ack, sue is really starting to annoy me. I’m not saying she’s a bad person, but dang, she just keeps yelling and shouting, especially at Paulo. The moment he came she got this dark look on her face and she already started harassing him. I think she just likes to yell and antagonize people, jeez…. There must be something more to this, like she likes him or she thinks its his fault about something.
Dogman October 7, 2013, 1:34 PM EST.

“So what does it mean then?,” It’s a paradox! The BCB equivalent to furry art. Sue’s initial reaction makes so much sense now.

How come no one’s thought of this before?

@Haws, http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c55/p16.html I think people have noticed how there are human characters in movies and pieces of art, but not that many people care or want to make a big deal about it. Personally I think it is a pretty cool aspect of BCB so far, but I bet somebody somewhere will disagree. To each their own.
Now I see where all the PauloXSue shippers came from.

Also, Sue’s face in panel 5 is perfect.
@MaronaPossessed(below) : If you are talking about that Taeshi Diary with the dog, then I guess she’s more used to sad things than I thought. I cried when I read that so I have no idea how she must have felt.

@Turanis: I don’t think it is that Sue is disinterested in the art, simply that she has other things on her mind at the moment and isn’t actually fully focused on the task. I can imagine in the last page that she was thinking about how this would normally be when Lucy would comment to her or argue with Mike.
Regardless of how high her interest is though, it can be quite hard to describe what art pieces mean to you and it doesn’t help when you aren’t actually focused on the task.
Also, it seems more likely that due to the different speech bubble shape and the fact that the characters weren’t coloured that the ‘ridicule’ was merely what Paulo THOUGHT they said which could be quite different from what they said. You can mishear things quite easily when you already have an expectation of what someone will say.
And I’m assuming she says he doesn’t try because he barely put any thought into what he said about the painting. He’s not trying that hard to understand the art after all. He is trying very hard to not be left out of the group but that is completely different from what Sue is referring to.

That’s not sad, sad is that a child died of lead poising on china within the past day (about 1 a day) and wasn’t even acknowledged as human after their death and as such was left to rot and decompose unburied (children die so often the law doesn’t acknowledge them as human until thy turn two)

Sue may be the intellectual one but Paulo could see the picture and do what Sue could not “criticize” the art, he could express his own opinion with just looking that picture one time: “the color are plain and boring, she is just standing there”. Sue could no do that and she is the “intelectual”

I finally think I understand what Taeshi meant when she told us that this chapter would broaden our minds.
Each page with art had details that made us really question what it was or what it meant, I think most of us couldn’t figure out what it was. Once we learned what it was, mind broadened. Also, Daisy was hiding in that first panel on the previous page.

@Taeshi: “Behind the Yellow line,” reminds me of a sad story about a famous dog in Japan, the dog always went to a subway station to wait for his owner. One day, his owner died of a heart attack. The dog stayed at the station and wouldn’t leave. he died waiting for him. I believe that there was a statue made of the owner and the dog. I don’t remember who I heard this story from, I was about four when I heard it.

It’s all leading up to something bigger, because otherwise this comic will get boring real fast, no offense Taeshi. Lucy has to come back, or a lot of people will be disappointed and lead that to reason that they won’t read this comic anymore.
Summed up:
1. Something big will happen
2. Lucy will return
@Fangs
It’s called critical hit because Sue and Paulo smacked their heads together.
Who knows, maybe Lucy will appear at the end of the chapter.

Why are people still sceptical about the fact that Paulo actually went and bought a ticket? The reason he looks so nervous is because that he actually swallowed his pride to rejoin his friends, not that he snuck in (though I’m not completely ruling that out). If that doesn’t say a lot about Paulo then I don’t know what does. Deep down, he really cares about his friends.

@Lucy fans: Lucy will be away for quite some time so enjoy these chapters with other characters. It is their time to shine and last time I checked, Lucy was not the only main character… there are 4 of them and hey look we have one of them on this page.
Lucy is gone for now, get over it and enjoy watching the other characters interact and go on with their lives while she recovers. Physically she’s doing better now, but that doesn’t change the fact that mentally she was a wreck last time we saw her. If you think all of that will be fixed up after a few weeks, then you are sadly mistaken.
We will probably see Lucy again much later after she’s more stable and maybe we will even see her surrounded by new friends in a new location as she enjoys her new life. If that knowledge isn’t good enough, then keep quiet and whine to yourself about Lucy not being around.
Tl;Dr: We will see Lucy again, but not anytime soon. Just keep your complaints to yourself and if you are really desperate, then go back to the many previous chapters that have Lucy to get your fix. Hopefully you care enough to be back in the future when we see her again.
