There's something about both pictures that make amaya's body look like literal cardboard, like flat on the bed rather than feeling a body lying on the bed, I cannot understand why it does that though.

I guess she forgot to draw creeves between the body and the bed to show force being laid on it.
Or maybe it's the fact that sue is supporting half of her weight on Amaya's belly with no reaction from the latter.
But it's great, nevertheless.
Just realized that sue's shoulder should be a little rised as well.
Sorry about triple post.
There's also the possibility of Sue's hand not leaving marks on Amaya's torso as it presses on her flattening the image. The value (shades and highlights rounding the figures) is also nonexistant.. In this sketch, it's bound to look flat because it's a rather early stage.
It's Amaya's arm under the pillow that is giving off the feeling of flatness.
I don't get the idea that she's supporting herself on Amaya's belly, Hero, but rather stroking it or lightly touching it. Sue could still be supporting herself entirely with her lower body / abs.
Amaya's arm does looks strange, Anialator, you're right. But as doublet said this is an early sketch and these changes could very well be made to the final work (which I very much hope will be drawn!!)

ah, the arm is fixed, and the hair looks better, as well as amaya's smile.
This is a very satisfying picture.
