Welcome Questionable Content readers (who came via my guest strip while this was on the front page!)
You’ve caught us in the middle of a story summary chapter, so why not jump back 24 pages and read it from the start?
Actually I think she’s just trying to convince herself she’s not hurt by it all. From when they were really little he was to only one that was nice to her, everyone else was mean. By the time she’d met him, she was expecting everyone to just push her away and he didn’t so she tagged along after him because he was nice but she was confused because she kept expecting to be told to go away. But then when Sandy came along, Sandy was nice and invited her along, but Mike mainly ignored her when they were all together (well he was in love so yeah, can’t blame the guy for being so focused on Sandy. Lucy never actually blamed Sandy, she was just hurt by how Mike acted) and Lucy felt shoved away again. She found her pets/companions and they’re the only ones who’ve always loved her and been nice to her the whole time and the only ones that see the real sweet side to her. For an actual friend, she always thought Mike was her only friend and they did have great times playing games together and that and now that’s gone too.

She wasn’t that bad of a friend , if you read some of the storys here she seems to have put her life on the line for him a lot, I mean try reading the chapters confrontation and troubled waters,

I know all you might be sneering at her comment: “I sure as hell didn’t need you!” That comment is the step in the right direction, it’s just that she needs to go all the way in the right direction in order for it to work. She’s doing self-therapy without realizing it, but it’s half-baked so it’s not going to work effectively. What a pity it is that this character has to learn these lessons in the hardest way possible.
