I was like Jasmine as a freshman. I love love LOVED Twilight because I’m a hopeless romantic. However, rereading the books the year afterward, and reading all the essays about why the storyline is so poor and Edward and Bella’s relationship is so unhealthy and stuff, I realized that this wasn’t the kind of romance that I should be fandoming over. Edward has nine of the main traits of an abusive boyfriend, which is… hilarious, because he sparkles xDD So ironic.

Still, seeing Paulo and Jasmine pulls a tiny ache in my heart for what could have been, as far as Lucy x Paulo.

It’s nice to see a web comic author that’s willing to way-lay into their readers. The authors of Eerie cuties recently changed a panel to bend to the will of a bunch of whiny @$$wholes, instead of telling the readers to just deal with it. This isn’t quite the same thing, it’s the author telling the audience to get over a twilight reference, but refreshing all the same.

Whats the big deal with mentioning Twilight….unfortunetly…for all of us, it is somewhat iconic and is a reference that we all at least understand (everyones whining proves it lol). I love the way as soon as Twilight gets mentioned ANYWHERE there is this massive flame war. Just referencing Twilight doesn’t make something automatically suck. I’m none-too-fond of the books myself, but I can appreciate that some people enjoy them.

As for the people declaring that this comic has jumped the shark or that they won’t be reading it anymore- please grow up. One mention of one less-than-wonderful series does not automatically make the comic suck. As a matter of fact I commend Taeshi for risking the backlash by including the reference, which is actually quite funny and well executed.

I’m not a fan of Twilight myself, but I do recognize the cultural impact it is having (for better of for worse) so I made it a point to be aware of it (check out the books and movies).

But there is a silver lining to the Twilight saga. It has given us what must be one of the most hysterical MST3K riffs ever! The first Twilight movie with the rifftrax is an absolute blast. For those of you who really can’t stand the series, I highly recommend you check it out. It’s full of so much sarcasm it eases the pain.

Also, I can totally see Paulo reading just enough of the books to get the gist and then dressing up as Edward to impress his girlfriend. Glitter poof FTW!

Twilight… Well I read them, and even enjoyed them for a while… And it is now a source of embarrassment for me. I don’t resent this reference at all, it totally fits, my frustration is not with this comic but with The twilight series for unleashing his whole vampire plague upon the literary world. I mean, seriously, you can hardly go into the teen section of a bookstore anymore and find a book not involving something occult, be it vampires, zombies, fallen angels or, well, vampires. Is anyone else over the vampire craze??

As much as I hate twilight, I appreciate the jokes and that you are making jokes at it. I honestly laughed at the glitter, and is thus one of my favourite pages of the whole comic. (I do mean all 60 chapters, 63 at the time of posting, but I haven’t read those yet ;P)

I love jasmine x paulo. I really hope it last. They’re interactions are just fantastic. Paulo and most anyone else is just semi annoying “lust”. not bad in small doses but repeating. Paulo x Lucy is sweet at times but i dunno, I feel there needs to be more then just sweetness, ya know. I haven’t really seen that yet between the pair.
