Transcript

*David, smiling to himself, leads a disgruntled Justin down the street. They pass by an electronics store’s display of televisions.*

*The image on the TV screens change.*
Announcer: We interrupt “Football Scene Placeholders Caught On Tape” for an extremely dramatic announcement!

Announcer: Police are responding to reports of an extraordinary mass kidnapping! And by mass, we mean one kid.
*Justin notices the broadcast and looks to the TVs.*
Justin: ..!

Justin: Sir Pop! Didya hear that?!
*David looks back at Justin, a tear in his eye.*
David: Yeah, my dearest darling’s in trouble..

*David cries out, pained.*
David: But not to worry! I’m gonna save her!!
*Justin looks a little worried.*

*Justin continues listening in on the news report.*
Announcer: Police say the victim has brown eyes…
*The frown on David’s face turns into a grin as he loses himself in thought.*
David: And her lovely brown eyes..

Announcer: .. and is wearing blue goggles.
David: And her gorgeous blue goggles.
*Justin freaks out.*

*David strides forward.*
David: Well! Let’s get climbing!
*Justin yells after him, exasperated.*
Justin: WAIT!!

*Justin waves his arms wildly at David, trying to get his attention. David is preoccupied, looking up at the building.*
David: Hmm!
Justin: THIS IS A BAD IDEA!! DID YOU HEAR WHA--

*David squints at the building, with one hand on his hip and the other at his chin.*
David: There has to be an easier way to climb this thing.
*Justin hesitates.*
Justin: Huh?

*David smacks his hands together.*
David: Ahh, I know!
Justin: You do?!

*David, grinning madly, charges up a ball of energy.*
David: SUPERRR PANELLL TELEPORT!!

*David and Justin suddenly appear on the roof of the building with a “pop”.*

David: WHOOOO, I did it!!
*David waves his arms happily. Justin’s eyes go wide as he realizes they are on the roof of the building.*

*David peeks out from over the edge of the roof, grinning.*
David: Hello, newspaper stand and your news of the day!!

*David reaches out to wave.*
David: Hello camera crew and your TV van!

*He turns to the side and waves again.*
David: Hello police squadron and your guns pointing up at me!

*David’s smile fades and his arm drops.*
David: Errrr.. oh

Author commentary

Veronica: I remember getting super fed up by the end of this page and started drawing incredibly sloppily, probably taking less than a minute to draw the last three panes. I got a chance at redemption in the redraw, even though the scenes are very simplistic to begin with.

It doesn’t look sloppily out of place anymore, at least!
