@Yewsea This is the last page from a Tom and Jerry comic from 1948 (#45 - Tom Cat), where in leu of money for a gift to give his interest on her birthday Tom gets the brilliant idea to make himself the gift to try and impress her, but instead finds himself enslaved and worked to the bone by her and his rival. He snaps towards the end, spanks her (a tradition from the 40's) and gives her a kiss which causes her to fall for him.
It's out of place with todays standards but more at home with that period's idea of romance -- don't simply try to impress women, just assert masculine dominance.
In BCB's case though I think it's being jokingly used in that Mike could always do some pretty messed up stuff and Lucy will end up just running back to him.
