Look, I am willing to look the other way when it comes to your Consequences comic - since it’s a comic that started out without using AI, but your recent posts are verrrry AI to me and I don’t really want to see Candybooru filled with such things. Just nipping this potential discourse in the bud before it becomes something normalised!
I think you should be allowed to finish your comic with the tools you have, but any further AI-centered art outside of your comic will be deleted.
I don't think this person is using AI, but they are clearly heavily referencing something, which becomes evident when you look at their rapid improvement. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, though! Copying is how human beings learn! It's how we all learned how to draw! The lines in this image are shaky at points, they overlap and they don't fully connect and their thickness constantly fluctuates. AI does not do that. There could be an argument to be made that this is a drawing referencing an AI generated image, but it could also just as well be them referencing artwork made by another artist, as (and I mean no offense to the artist, it's a lovely piece by a beginner!) it's an incredibly generic anime stock pose/face you could find on basically any piece of promotional artwork, on any anime, ever. Additionally, the other pieces in this artist's gallery all seem to be heavily referencing panels in the comic you yourself drew, or, to be honest, it feels like they just referenced Undertale fanart or something, lol. Children improve their art rapidly if they are actively referencing a lot of art, their brains are like sponges, so I don't think them getting this much better over the 9 months they've been posting is totally out of the question.
Now, I want to state that me disagreeing with you doesn't mean I dislike you or anything Taeshi, your comic has been an important part of my life for 13 years! I just think we should offer budding young artists a chance to prove themselves before we write them off as using AI
No, it's AI. This image isn't being judged in isolation. We're aware of the LoRAs trained on Vero's work (they're really impressive!) but they have their own signature appearance as their base image model has its own tells. In addition, there are some very obviously faked "working sketches" Conspirator shared in Discord (which goes a step beyond not disclosing what you're doing with AI, I think!) and graduating to this would only make sense given the obvious tracing in previous panels of Conspirator's comic.
I'd like to see Conspirator continue to improve her art! Even occasionally tracing or copying to get something to look right is cool by me. Every artist does it. But it needs to come primarily from the artist's hand to be eligible for upload here. We don't really want to archive traced AI-generated art on Candybooru.
