Stop insulting your skills so much!! The only way to get better is to keep on trying, and comics are notoriously hard to make! This is a very cute comic with a very fun idea, thank you for the really thoughtful gift ;__; It’s sad that Lucy is a little justified to get on Mike’s case because I haaaate mango lmao, though I also wouldn’t say a tres leches cake is my favourite….. I’m probably the most boring person you could shop a cake for, vanilla frosted cake-lover and all….. though I’ve noticed more and more it seems to be really hard finding really basic cakes. They are always adding STUFF in it

The expressions are so good! The furrowed brows and the bend in their jaws as they show their teeth is a very cool effect! You get better with each new drawing, keep it up!

One of my favourite things has been seeing how much your overall style has evolved with each BCB drawing over the years ;__; It’s so cool to see them in this colour style you’ve been tinkering with!! I love how creative you always are when it comes to designing outfits, you pick interesting ones that still feel so on-brand with the characters! Mike with his baggy sweater and shorts, Lucy with her elegant oversized shirt but tomboyish shorts. I love the matching colour-bandaids that follow the colour scheme of their outfits ;__; Blue bandaid on Lucy with pink bandaid on Mike….. it’s so cute!!!

I love seeing Yashy as well!!!! Their interaction is so nostalgic, with Yashy being a troublemaker and Lucy just.. allowing her to do that because she enjoys seeing Mike get worked up. I love this so much Lily thank youuuuu!!!! ;___;

My thought process during making this:
Been really enjoying seeing michaelfurd getting uno reversed by the narrative. I wanted to show how he's finally got what he wished for, and how that has evolved into a curse. The love he once wanted is now a burden, her full support now a weight on his shoulders. Constantly reminding him of the actions he has done to get to this point. Sandy is reaching for his scarf and trying to pull it off, an attempt to make him let go of the girl's whos eyes were an inspiration. Mike is also gripping onto the scarf, being unwilling to let it go, and might be retightening it around his neck as a result too. I made sure to make the scarf color have an intense contrast to everything else, symbolizing how everything in his life has dulled and darkened now that hes made his choice.

Ima be honest and say i dont remember exactly why i included the bit of red/pink thats seen around his hand. I think it had something to do with Lucy and his emotions seeping through, but I also really like everyones interpretation of it being blood. Both from how tight he is holding on and coincidentally the hand that scratched his knee when Sandy dropped the bomb on him.

Finally, I made sure to have one of Mike's arm pinned by Sandy, to show how he feels trapped in this relationship. Feeling unable to get out of this situation. Sandy's other hand is seen grabbing onto his hand that holds his scarf, another attempt to make him let go and accept the relationship he's in now. But I made sure to have this arm/hand be loose around Mike, its not pinning him like the other one. He is totally free to pull away here. He could in fact push Sandy away if he wanted to because as much as she's wrapped around him, he still has enough freedom to get out of this situation. And thats the biggest symbolism I tried depicting, that as much as this reads like Sandy having total control of this scene, Mike still has this freedom available to him. He could if he wanted to, but he's not. He'd rather keep pushing and pulling. Mike got what he asked for, and Sandy has what she wants! Everyone wins!!!! The end.

I said a lot but EVERYONE IS FREE TO INTERPRET IT AS THEY WANT TOO, that's always fun.

I'm absolutely in love with this theme Splotchi, I adore this. That Mike is so broken and emotionally burnt out that even Sandy's love and appreciation for him feels like that, even though she means well. Keep it up.
